Trey Yesavage Out for Blue Jays Opener with Shoulder Issue

young pitcher Trey Yessevage. The 22-year-old right-hander won't start the 2026 season on the

active roster. Instead, he'll begin on the injured list with a right shoulder impingement.

Manager John Schneider shared the update on March 19 in Dunedin, Florida. Yessevage is in

fully shut down from throwing, but he won't be ready when official games kick off. He was a

favor for American League rookie of the year after bursting onto the scene last year. In 2025,

he made three regular season starts and impressed enough for postseason duty. That included

starting World Series games, one in four against the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Jays won both,

but fell short in the series. The team is taking a cautious approach with his workload.
