Trump's Iran War Claim: Unprecedented, Unconstitutional?

On May 1st, President Trump dropped a letter to Congress on May 1st claiming the hostilities

with Iran are over.

This comes exactly 60 days after U.S. and Israeli strikes hit Iran on February 28, 2026.

He says the ceasefire kicked in on April 7th.

God extended, and there's been zero fire exchange since, so the War Powers Act deadline

for approval.

Just vanish.

Under that 1973 law, presidents get 60 days to handle imminent

threats with troops.

Then Congress has to sign off.

Trump notified leaders back on launch day for Operation Epic Fury, calling it pure

national security.

But as he left the White House Friday, he flat out said he won't seek permission claims

it's never happened before, and the whole acts, unconstitutional.
