Tua Joins Falcons, Competing for Starting QB Role

The Atlanta Falcons waste the no-time grabbing quarterback, Tua Otago-Viloa, after the Miami

Dolphins released him earlier this week.

He's joining the team to compete directly for the starting job alongside Michael Pennex

Jr., rather than just sitting as a backup.

Phoenix is still recovering from a partial tear to his left ACL at the end of last season,

which forced him out and led to Kirk Cousin stepping in.

That injury has raised questions about his readiness, right away.

ESPN analyst Dan Arlovsky predicts Tua will be under center by week one, citing concerns

over Pennex's health.

Falcons' general manager Ian Cunningham echoed that by stressing competition at the position

for everyone involved.

Tua once led the league in passing yards during his Dolphins tenure, though he's battled

multiple concussions.

Pennex managed just over 1,900 yards and 9 touchdowns before his injury last year, with

training camp on the horizon.

This quarterback duel could shake up the Falcons lineup in a big way.
