22:39Only when I went to college, when I went to school, and they call on me, me and Neville, I said, well, I guess that's me. Right? Because, prior to that, I knew myself as Andy. 23:40Right? So. Right? And what happened was, you know, you know, uh, here in here in the islands, we like to tease people. Right? Uh, if somebody come from Antigua, the first place they're going to ask them, we'll come from point. Right? Right? Yes. Right? For this, the, the place that they don't say is we come from bands, got right? Right? So she said, no, they come from bands. Good. They come from cat. They come from, um, Gingerland and kind of grown. Right? Right? Right? But Roosevelt, why, why, why, why I brought that up is when you first came to the Virgin Islands, your stop was in Xinjiang. Not Xin Thomas. Xin, Xinjiang. Take a, take a little bit about that please. Listen, listen, when I came to the Virgin Islands, my mother died suddenly. And I had a brother, John. Doc knows him, John. Yeah. And he, John saw that I really couldn't find myself. And he was a manager for Miss Armstrong, had several drug stores in the Virgin Islands.

24:44One in Xinjiang. And so he sent my brother, John, to send John to Manek. Could you imagine John in Xinjiang to manage the drugs over there? Yeah. And so when John saw that I couldn't really find myself, he said, hey, why don't you come over here for a little while. If you like it, you would say, and if you don't like it, you'll just go back. Well, after that, except for short occasions, I've been living here since the beginning. I've been living here since 1967. One year short of 60 years. When did you get a 60 year anniversary coming up in a little while, man? Absolutely. Absolutely. Wow. And that's 6-0. 6-0, yeah. Yeah. When I talked to friends in Nevis and what have you, and they started them, you going to Xinjiang? Xinjiang dead. Dead. He was going to Xinjiang. Well, I started to get discouraged, you know. And so my childhood friend, living from Sergeant, a great cricketer.

25:47Greatest cricketer. When did you find the curry in the Isliwada island? Yes. Yes, yes. Hold on a second. Reservant. Reservant. I'm going to bring up something that will force me to ban the school from being at my show. Great. Greatest cricketer in the Isliwada island. You order your mind. That's cool. I don't want to hear what you're going to say. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Malik, Malik, Malik. You know that there is a sports junkie, right? And the first sport I ever played in my life is a memory. They used to pack me and carry beer and send me on Tiga. We play cricket when I was small in Tiga. Right? I read a compliment, which is, I've never heard this compliment in any sport. Right? A man named Imran Khan. Yeah. He was a cricket type. He believed he was from Pakistan. Right? Yeah. And he was actually the leader of Pakistan at one time. But he had like English woman. He married her English woman in England.

26:47Right? Imran Khan. When they asked Imran Khan, what do you think about Vivian Richards? You know what Imran Khan said? He said, even said that Vivian Richards was a genius. He said Vivian Richards was a complete genius. I've never heard it like that before in my life. Because genius is all in compass and you say, a complete genius. So no one knows that a genius and they got complete genius. So doc, go ahead and talk with me. Listen, I'm actually wrong because in those days, Saj was a little older than Vivian. And Vivian was just coming up and Saj was ahead of him. But they caught up with each other. And for some reason or the other, Viv just went his own way. Just went his own way. By any way, we'll come back to that. Tell me about Vivian. Yes. Yes. Yes. Anyway, it's a living sunset. Because we were so tight. Still tight. Went to school five years old. And we never had an argument.

27:48Up to now, we're still close. And both of us became bankers. He stayed away from the politics. He said to me, you saw me. Roozy, you ain't going away. Not you, you ain't even gotten gone. So when I really left, they were all shocked. But when I reached the end of us, I had the old, true money report. My brother picked me up in this little blue Volkswagen. Driving, driving. That's about it. Well, John, what do you want me to say? It's a red hook. It's a red hook. So I tried. I tried. I'm wearing out. I'm looking out. I can't reach this red hook. Finally, red hooks. Got on to a boat. Call it Jolly Roger. I'd belong to. Yeah. So, so my league's family there. Victor saw. Victor saw. Victor saw. He was taking the school children back to St. John. And I had this friend, St. Clair Wilkinson. He's from Banskot and I'm from Kaja.

28:51We went to elementary school together. And I had not seen that guy for years. So when I got on the boat, I looked. I saw this guy. Got on the school uniform. He was watching me and watching him. I said, boy, this look great St. Clair. And I heard him say, Roosevelt. And I said, St. Clair. And from that, we just became great friends again, you know? So I got to St. John. Got to St. John. And I started looking around. It felt very awkward. But I started to feel good because. But this place looked like Nameless. Look at the hill. Look at the mountain. And I never, this looked like Nameless. Next thing I know. I started seeing guys. Who, um, I hadn't seen. These guys were walking in Canterbury. I didn't know where they went. I know I didn't see them in Nameless. I didn't know where they were. I started seeing them one by one. My brother John put me to walk in the truck store. And then they come in into shop. So I'm making friends. So I feel like I'm back in Nameless now.

29:51I felt good. I felt good. I felt good. And what put the icing on the cake there? I'm hanging back nowhere. And I stayed right here. The next thing I hear them guys playing cricket. Right in the area of Julesy's pro school. I said, wow. I can't wait to finish to go walk. I got up. And that time I fresh from Nives with my cricket. And then boy, give me a chance to bat. Man, I started in the ball all over the place. You're on the team. You're on the team. You're on the team. You're on the team. You know? So that really, really brought me into home. I can't send John home. No question about it. So sports. Sports once again bring people to get out of it. I mean, you're locally. And listen. I always tell people outside of the place where I was born. Send John is everything to me. Because send John. Every good thing that happened to me started right in send John. Did you meet your wife in send John?

30:51I met my wife in send John in Carl Day. A pen. It was Labor Day. Labor Day used to be a big in send John in those days. Everybody going to Carl Day. Carl Day. Everybody. Man, I learned. So I learned in something this morning. Malik here. Coral, be with the place to be. Labor Day. There was a place to be. And then we will organize teams. Pick it. Hold on, hold on. But cruiser only became important in the past 70 years. And it didn't call the center of everything. And it shifted from Carl Day to cruise. So it's not surprising. Carl Day was like a center of gravity for the same junior in the community. So it's all that I'm telling you. We use to bring teams. Pick it. It's from. Stay from. Or taller. From saying. Croix. And we used to have some big games. And the crowds would come out and look at us. And then we brought in in the place called Sputnik. Belong to the mass. He is a mass brother.

31:51That's Malik again. That's Malik again, don't know. That's Malik family again. Yes, yes. And then Austin Smith's brother. Fred Smith had a bad day. And so that's where all the action used to take place. So I go there. And I see this big family there all together. Together, the Penn family. And I saw this lady in this spot. And something about her. That's something attracted me. I just come from Davis. I press. I press. I gone up to her. I was the lady. May I dance with you, please? Uh-huh. Uh-huh. The older brother boys. They say, oh, I believe in no. When I look there, I'll get in some vehicle and they're gone. So this is the end. So. So listen. I'm not the drugs who are working one day. And I saw the lady walking up the street. And I have customers in front of me. I'm serving at the cash register. And I said, you ready for me? I need to cook that. I said, wait, wait, wait, wait.

32:52Excuse me, please. I got to go. I went outside. And I talked to the lady. And I said, this is where I've worked. And what a Roosevelt day. But it's my name. I remember that when I tried to dance with Uncle Arbe. And I said, you know, when I was shopping, come. What? And I did. She was in the joke. So shopping. Well, that was my moment. Hey, well, check this out. Check this out. Check this out. Check this out. Check this out. Um, um, Labour Day weekend is the Eastern Caribbean festivities weekend. Yes. Yes. Because because I'm St. Croix. They used to have a big parade with all of the, all of the Eastern Caribbean islands. And Labour Day. Yes. Of course, you know, Labour Day big and, big and Brooklyn. Yeah. Yeah. A lot of, a lot of Caribbean people. Yeah. A lot of Caribbean people. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So I'm saying that every good thing that happened to me, started all really happened in Xinjiang.

33:52But check this out. But check this out. And Roosevelt. A, a, a, a, a, docs and, and, and Malik. You realize that Roosevelt just gave a, a, a living example of why the place is called Love City. Yeah. Yeah. That's right. I'll show you. But listen. And that's where I got married right in Xinjiang. Oh, man. January 22nd, 1971. Here it is. Yes. Never forget that. You have 55 year anniversary this year. Absolutely. Absolutely. Wow. Absolutely. Listen. And then, but in addition to that, my banking career started right in Xinjiang. My political career started right in Xinjiang. Am I saying, John? My business career started right in Xinjiang. And how my political career started on Xinjiang. I had been the president of an organization called the Pioneer Benevolence Society.

34:52And we were honoring people in the community who we know outstanding people like Roy. So people like Neptune, Richard, big farm on Xinjiang, a big name on Xinjiang, kids with just family. We used to honor them. And Canadian Bay would allow us to use the place because this thing was big in Xinjiang. And everybody was one. And then, and thanksgiving, that organization would go to the community and get the nations of food and drinks and whatever thing. And at Hawk's Nest, we would have a big party for the whole of Xinjiang. Black, white, blue, whatever color you wore, everybody was at Hawk's Nest. For years. So all this, when we, they're calling me and the president of the organization, I have to introduce these people who are being honored and think of this nature. And trust me, that is where the politics started. We used to bring it over to the imagination. That's where I got to know Cecil Farms.

35:53It was the manager of the imagination then. And the band was really, really big. So these were big festivities for us. But I believe this year's carnival is dedicated to imagination as well, sir. Yes, after all, everyone staged that. I got a, I got a, I got a two-minute clip. Will that John sent me a two-minute clip last night? I saw him. Yeah. He said, people in there by now, let me see you wave your hand. I just want people jumping up. I just want big, big, big children. And I said, well, this is classic imagination as well. Yes, I did. I could be applause. No, okay, I'm gonna laugh for. Don't laugh. No,房s are hollering. No, don't laugh. No, don't laugh. I don't want to laugh. No, don't laugh. No, okay, man, no. I should have hate. You should have hated her. No. Oh, god, don't hate. No, no,�,�,� because I missed it. I beggin you, please, and go. Yeah. So I tell you now, so what happened? The very same drugstore that I had my first job in in 1967. My wife, Tonorone, and I owned it for 20 years,

36:53so that's a lot of history that happened in San John. one day, then this man came in a man by the name of Valentina MacBean. And he said to me, is your name Roosevelt David? I said yes sir. He said, well do you know a man by the name of Pharaoh Moher? I said, oh yes, he's a good friend of mine. We always talk in politics. He said, well he recommended that I come and talk to you because we're looking for someone to work for the national bank at the time that was in Tenshan in Moist building. So he told me that you're well spoken and you're well dressed. I start laughing. Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, if it's one thing where Roosevelt then she was got the shine white. And you have to have a pleat in Japan. Yes sir. Yes sir. If we got the crucicown here. You got your own

37:53belief in this. The other day, I went to a meeting and had only shoes. And when I came out, I stopped by Stacey Plaskett office. And he said to me, Roosevelt, what happened? You get up in the night to shine your shoes. I bought all of them. Hey, hold up right there. Hold up right there. I'm going to come back. Continue with everything. I'm about to talk. Sometimes I have to qualify things that people don't understand because some people who are from here may have left hair so long, but don't realize how things have developed. So I just want to say that I was making a comment about Irene. I want to tie that comment in first back. She was a steadfast supporter of Lorraine Berry. Well, she's very close to her, or I got

42:23leave. So when he passed, she very said at the very end, Irene, who can replace him? She said, well, nobody can replace her. I got leave, but she knows someone who, uh, she have seen grown in her midst, who is a very strong person who has the skills that just recommended me. So when Berry spoke to me, she said, uh, Malik, Irene, you are a child, I think, yes, because her husband was Leslie Heddington, who was the younger brother to Florence Heddington, who was the father of the church and grew up in Caldbury, when he bought this church. And so she saw me as a child growing up in a cinchie household. That's a family hands in Thomas. Uh, and so she knew me since I was five years old. And that means she said, she made a good position at, you know, that I could handle myself. I have strong, you know, strongly held views, but I don't show this respect to people in public. If I go on fight, would you be in private? We don't fight in private, but the public will, you know, hold the same head and be,

43:25you know, be very productive. So I got the job, uh, working with Berry as a advisor and had like a probation period. And after she saw us, I could do, I could do the work in the rest of history. And then working with Berry, uh, you saw the old times, the politics, the politics of the six and seventies was tough in order. Yeah, but what, what, what, what, uh, hold on a one second. I won't allow you to just refer to her as Berry. You have some manners, Malik, what is wrong? Which set it up very for you, man.
