Tuskegee Coach Sues Morehouse Over Basketball Incident

Tuskegee men's basketball coach, Benji Taylor, has filed a lawsuit against Morehouse College

and two campus police officers.

The suit stems from an incident on January 31st, when Taylor says he was handcuffed and

removed from the court during a game.

He's seeking more than $1 million in damages for emotional, physical, financial, and reputational

harm.

During the match-up, which Morehouse won 77 to 69, members of the Morehouse football team

were taunting Tuskegee players near the baseline.

Taylor asked the officers to clear the amount to prevent trouble, but instead, he claims they

ignored his request and detained him for pushing security.

Rules.

Taylor's lawyer points to lasting effects like stress, high blood pressure, hair loss,

and a damaged reputation that could follow him through his career.

The detainment also heard his ability to support his family financially.

No charges were filed against Taylor at the time.

The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference reviewed the event and fined Morehouse for failing

security standards, especially around crowd.

Control and safe access for visiting teams.

They also ordered steps to fix the issues moving forward.

Even with the conference's response, Taylor's team believes the harm runs too deep for

just a fine and they're pressing ahead for full compensation in court.
