UK Wine Production Soars in 2025

On March 24, English and Welsh winemakers celebrated a major production boost in 2025, hitting

the third highest harvest on record.

Favorable hot dry weather combined with expanded vineyards led to 16,500,000 bottles worth

of wine, or 100, 24,377 hectal litres total.

This marked a 55% jump from 2024, when heavy rains slashed output to just 10,700,000

even so, volumes fell short of the bumper 21,600,000 from 2023.

White wines saw the biggest gains, surging over 131% from the prior year.

Growers in northwest England and Wales reported strong yields, while Southeast producers

dealt with uneven results due to lingering effects from past, wet seasons, and ever however held to

the industry keeps expanding, with registered vineyards up 4% to 1158 and planted area growing

nearly 3% to 4,357 hectares. It now supports over 10,000 jobs and generates 14 billion pounds in

value. Warmer UK climates are drawing investors as traditional wine region struggle,

setting the stage for even steadier growth ahead.
