Tonight in 98 was a totally mad year for pro wrestling mostly because we did have the Monday night war. It's been a degeneration exit bill goal bug or Steve Austin. Kids would have remote controls in their hands and they would skip from one channel to the next but they just wanted to know what's going to go down. I mean you could argue the sports entertainment was all popular than ever but then you have to compare that to the 80s but either way it had exploded and it felt awesome. We then got a massive surprise though because in that same year the ultimate warrior returned. And when you do do some research it's not the biggest surprise because of course in late 1997 Vincent Mann as he was wanting to do reached out to the real life gym hell because I hate gym why don't you come back and you can see the contract we're trying to make sure it gets on screen right now but make sure you're really with your own eyes and every time this gets brought up I always think about Brett Hart. He had just left because Vincent told him sorry Paul we don't have enough money and then he offered millions of dollars to the ultimate warrior. I mean no wonder Brett I so pissed these days has every single right. Now I guess that is what opened up the door for Eric Bischoff, he of head honcho fame act. We just pick up the phone and say oh hi ultimate warrior

do you want to come in here instead? I guess because he was off in a lot of money the warrior who had till he was retired decided to reneglin that and yet he popped up on WCW Nitro. But also maybe another legacy star had made the jump and really you could already smell this from a mile away it almost felt like well wait a minute back at WrestleMania 6 Holt Kogan in the ultimate warrior had contests with each other and Holt Kogan had lost and if you can believe it the hunkster never got his win back so maybe we should do it now. But all went down on the August 17th Nitro and even the location is something that we should talk about because yes it was in Connecticut which was essentially the WWS backyard I don't think that was by accident because of the time period too. You also had Holt Kogan in the ring with the NWO going there is no warrior who can beat me I always think it's so ridiculous when somebody does that if nothing else you're telling the fans and once the fans do work out where you just stepped on somebody's puff. It worked out because the ultimate warrior known as warrior did arrive that is entered just so over the top of the lights and smoke and this is one of the best stories from the Monday Night Wars because he had been in a lot of 10 minutes to cut his big promo and tell out

of his stuff and tell Holt Kogan I'm coming for you brother and again you go watch this for yourself it goes over 20 it may be close to 25 and while I would love to tell you what the warrior was going on about I do not know even that was 30 years ago and I've watched this probably about 12 or so times I have no idea what he's saying he talks about spaceships and coats and who knows well the warrior just had his own language in his head and while there was something captivating about it as during his peak in the mid 90s it still didn't make any sense. Bishop was spoken about the fact that he was in the ring so he was freaking out because he was the producer of the show and they were still alive on TNT so they had to cut to the advert but they weren't able to do it because the warrior just wouldn't stop talking now at first Eric's like I get it he just came back to pro wrestling maybe he was just overly excited the warrior would continue to do this for weeks but there are two things to this I'm sure if it was anybody else Eric Bishop would have come off but you can't do that when someone just debuted because you're brewing the momentum but also too if you cut a promo for two hours and it's the greatest interview of all time and ratings go through the roof no one is going to complain but dare I

said and there are some statistics in the back this up a lot of people enjoyed the first five minutes because the ultimate warrior was back then they went click and change the channel. For this point on as we did lead into the full brawl pay-per-view the ultimate warrior would turn up sporadically and yes every single time he had a microphone in his hand it was all like on the curve it's from the planet z on I'm going to come down and they're going to tie the latest on my boots my boots are going to be on my head because I'm actually wearing pants that's why well that's very interesting mr warrior but I don't really know what I meant to do with that information but I do hope you're well Jim Hellwick as well also sat down and came up what I think he thought was quite rare concept because he did start telling us about the one warrior nation or the OWN I don't have to tell you this but I will just in case it hasn't hit your brain I was like 30 years old before I realized poor bearer was a pun he was taken on the NWO and when you reverse that you get the OWN or brawl one warrior nation now this fell off the rails right away because he would attack the disciple who essentially brewed the barba beef cake and apparently he did have magical powers because after he had worked his ass the disciple joined the one warrior

nation so now we had the one warrior nation with two people it's like what am I meant to do with any of this you're just hurting my brain full ball actually ties into modern day criticisms too because they took a traditional match known as the war games I'm sure you've heard of it and for some reason in this year they totally changed the rules like you remember what it's meant to be you have two teams and they both try and keep the crap out of each other but here you had three teams going against each other and the person that literally got the pin or the pin fall or the end of the match was responsible for it was going to get a title shot so it was like why would anybody be a team because it would mean if your team member tried to make the cover you'd stop them because you don't want them to have the world championship on 2 to Z I mean it was dumb you also had team NWO there was Hulk Hogan Stevie Ray and Bret Hart even though the time Bret Hart wasn't an official member of the new world order team wolf pack that was Kevin Nash-Ding and Lex Luger and you had team WCW that was DDP Roddy Piper and the ultimate warrior even though he didn't really care about WCW now we don't have to go back to this over the top entrance of the ultimate warrior hand

because of course he would appear from nowhere and the way they did that is a WCW built a trap door into the rings when they did plow a smoke nobody would notice him pop out of there but it meant other people in matches had to land on that dance thing which happened to the British Bulldog and I'm sure you've heard this story before he smashed his back so badly he had to go away for ages and this is when his pain killer medication addiction started or talk about it on a different video but let's just say it was super duper bad. During the war games itself as well we got this mad entrance when it turned out that it was the renegade there was the fake version of the warrior when the real warrior came out and did a normal entrance from the R way and it was like but if this entrance is meant to be all like spooky wookie because you have powers why wouldn't you just do it and look at my face don't make me say it again I will it made no sense against so funny as well because Hulk Hogan just leaves the cage which was against the rules to try and lock the ultimate and even though it been established he had transportation powers instead he rips off the door and those two started to fight in the R way I guess to give them an out which is where DDP actually got the one two three the interesting part about that is it do go on to Halloween have it

when it was Diamond Dallas Page taking on Bill Goldberg for the Dungeons & W World title and to this day lots of people would say that is Bill Goldberg's best match yep it's really flipping good now let's find some niceness to this run as well because just before we got to that paper view and we learned it was going to be Hulk Hogan vs Warrior Part 2 we did get a reuniting of the Blade runners for Casting and the warrior back again to take on Bret Hart and Hulk Hogan I mean even from a star power point of view that's ridiculous and then yes there's always a caveat the warrior in his coat stood on the ring apron basically for the entirety of the thing and Sting had to do all the work and that kind of does tie it to the past let's just say it was disappointing you cannot remain on this happy train though because now we do have to talk about one of the most infamous segments in Nitro history when Hulk Hogan was looking at the mirror and Eggbeard Bishop was behind him and yes in that glass Hogan saw the ultimate warrior to hear it Bishop did you see that Bishop is all like no hoax that you absolutely knew there's nobody there the issue being we the fan the viewer the watcher could also see the ultimate warrior so actually Hulk Hogan was telling the truth because we saw it too meaning Eric Bishop was the idiot

just going to leave it there I mean it is funny and it does make me laugh out loud it's also stupid it just proves that nobody had thought about this beforehand which must be the same with a Halloween having 1998 match because this is infamously what the worst bout of all time and even the props in the match still want to play ball and you should go watch it today because it's hilarious Hulk Hogan goes to use fire paper and instead it goes up in flames in his face so he has to sell it even though he was the one doing the move make sure you watch it twice as well look at the warrior even his face just goes oh he knows it's not going well somehow it only goes 14 minutes as well in that it feels like 30 plus and yes in the wrestling verven newsletter Dave Meltzer gave this minus five stars and let's just say that's probably fair I know I don't like to be horrible but they just move so damn slow and even when you do get into a high spot like fire well it quite literally bluds up in their face the finish is absolutely painful as well because it's Horace Hogan's interference that allows Hulk Hogan to get the win and you can just sit on Hulk's face he is so happy that now it is tied one to one

because he's got this amateur off his back also after this y'all to warrior nitro comes out to cut another massive promo and do you know what the ending of this was nothing I think Eric Bush have decided to cut his losses and you never saw the warrior again he did pop up in some Spanish promotion in 2008 to win their world title from Orlando Jordan but then once again he went back into retirement so he came back in dumpster w he was there for a few months he sent a lot of nonsense he lost the Hulk Hogan and then he went again I mean that's pretty flippin' weird warrior in later years as well of course we do interviews and even he said yes I figured out Hulk Hogan did just want to get his win back and I really don't think you can dispute that if you do have the patience to watch this from minute one till minute end they talk about it all the damn time especially when Hogan wins at Halloween have it the comment is like oh can you believe in these finally that I would also say that the warrior himself didn't connect it as intended and you have to imagine there was some behind the scenes issues here every single time the warrior did leave the WWF it was because he fell out with instant man and once again it's all there on that their internet felt like the same thing happened with Eric Bush off too he just had such

specific way he wants to portray his character and that it's not what the promotion wanted now there's no let him be shoved off of the hook carry either because of course he did sound on the bottom line and this not pretending him and Hulk Hogan had a had a conversation to begin with so just to double down on the third time this was just done so we could move on for what happened at WrestleMania because for some reason even the wrestling is sports entertainment Hulk couldn't handle the fact that he lost the warrior and he never got it back and it's just so bad as a max though but actually it is one that you should watch even though there are a few minutes where it's so damn dull when you do get to the funny bits that aren't meant to be funny well you will laugh I mean what are you going to do brother this was also eight years on from their WrestleMania match so of course it was going to be no good and actually it was even worse than that so it is all time bad and for me apart from that played rights for you there was nothing in this but make sure on your journey you do stop by and watch that war games too and then try and aim the same criticism for the ones we get today it's night and day brother we don't need to do it now of course you may have seen this you may not have seen this do please drop me a combo low and let me know what you think especially if you could remember your reaction the first time you saw it because don't

forget in 1998 people were pumped about this like Hulk Hogan vs Alta Warrior Part 2 that's going to hit me right in the nostalgia gland when you are grading things on a curve that's just going to make you a sad panda when you are down there you are crying please do like the video share that you haven't subscribed and click the video on the screen to get even more nonsense from pro wrestling and as always there's a lot of it but I appreciate you my friends this ball we'll see you soon
