Welcome to your daily dose of hope, and Phyllis Nichols, and I'm glad you're here.
Today, I want to talk about choosing hope, right?
It's not a feeling, although we can feel hopeful, it is a decision.
And once you choose hope, anything is possible.
That's a quote by Christopher Reeve.
It just reminds us that anything is possible.
For a lot of us that can sound like really abstract.
It sounds like a nice idea, but it can be hard to really embrace,
because some days it doesn't seem like anything is possible.
Some days, it can be easier to think about what feels impossible.
And that's when it's the perfect time to remember that we get to choose.
We get to make the quiet choice, even when circumstances aren't ideal.
Choosing hope doesn't mean ignoring reality.
It means deciding that the possibilities are still available.
They still exist, even if things aren't perfect today.
So when you want to choose hope, ask yourself a better question.
Instead of asking, why is this happening?
Maybe ask, you know, what's still possible here?
Or where's the opportunity?
Or my friend Jonathan would say, where's the lesson in this?
You can also focus on the next step, and not like the entire journey.
I feel like there's something, you know, I need to happen, or I want to happen,
and it's big and complicated.
And I get paralyzed sometimes, because I can't do all the things all at once.
And that's just not what we need to do.
Hope usually just lives in the very next little action that you need to take.
And lastly, this is just your reminder to also surround yourself with other hopeful voices.
People in your life that want to see you succeed, that care about you,
you know, choosing hope isn't a pretending things are perfect.
It means you're willing to be proactive, you're willing to lean on your own resilience,
and remind yourself every day that you do get to choose.
Choosing hope means believing in the future, and that it can hold something good for you.
And that belief actually changes how we move forward.
And when we change our actions and beliefs, we change our life.
