1921-1932年陆续出版的捷克长篇小说「好兵帅克历险记」The Good Soldier Švejk 讲述了一个性格温顺，头脑简单的中年男人“帅克”在第一次世界大战中假装积极参军的历险故事。这本书的的插图是由艺术家 Josef Lada 完成，全书一共三卷半，作者哈谢克 Jaroslav Hašek 在小说完成前心脏病去世，当时不到40岁。
