this particular episode is brought to you by five hour energy, have your cake and drink

Birthday cake flavor is back.
No fork needed vanilla E cakey flavor, caffeinated kick with no sugar.
It's party time order now at five hour energy dot com.
That's five hour energy dot com or on Amazon dot com and of course, Lockdown podcast network
now the number one podcast sports network out there Keith King's tonight is the road trip
continues possible possible expansion in the NBA, Cade Cunningham collapse lung, expected
to miss quote, an extended period of time and Joel and bead.
Let the parade start now goes from out to doubtful.
The baby of baby steps forward, but still a step forward nonetheless, Keith.
What does this tell you about where Joel and bead is back or is at in terms of coming
back from a oblique injury.
Absolutely nothing if you're going to be honest, I mean, and the reason I'm saying that
is because you know, you would feel a little bit more optimistic that he would play if
it was listed as questionable.
I mean doubtful could be one of those things where look, the Lee could have gotten vibrancy
Hey, look, what's wrong with him?
You got to put something up there.
Now the one thing that it will do is it will make sure that people are going to pay attention
to the injury report throughout the day because if he was listed as questionable, you would
have to believe that he will remain listed as questionable all day.
And then right before the game, it'll be one of those things where they'll say Nick Nertz
will say we'll see how Joel does during his pregame workout, right?
But what the doubtful thing is what's going to happen is they'll probably be most likely
an update after shoot around.
And people are going to look to see if he's questionable and then go on from there.
But to me, you know, I looked at it and it's like, Oh, okay, that's nice, but it's not
really tonic.
It's doubtful.
Makes it seem like he's really not going to play without a field plate today at all.
You know, it's like, Oh, we're not going to just basically say out because here's the
problem.
The last time they went from out to where all of a sudden, he skipped and went to questionable
and then he played and the team got fined for that.
So right now, this is giving them a little bit more wiggle room.
But at the same time, is it really telling us if he's going to play or not?
Yeah, I'd even go for a available, he'll be available, you know, that kind of thing.
Not that he's going to be a starter or anything like that, but maybe we'll get him 15 minutes,
20 minutes, something like that.
Like I've been saying, though, I would be fine if the Sixers held him out until that March
25 game, which game is the again, is the same game that Paul George comes back.
But just the up and what you've told me in the past about how the league likes to get involved
in things like this every once in a while, especially with a guy like Joelle and B, especially
like a team like the Sixers, for instance, that are repeat offenders and just botching injury
reports.
All right, he won't be out, but he'll be questionable.
That kind of thing.
I would love that.
But the doubtful is the again, baby step of baby steps forward.
Like we examined in the previous game against the Denver Nuggets, Joelle and B did go out
there during pregame warmups, Nick Nurse before the game and during the broadcast, you heard
it as well, but Nick Nurse saying before the game that Joelle and B, you know, you got
some good work in, you know, moving the ball forward, progressing well, those things
get, you know, get said, well, if you're progressing well and that gets set enough, then that
means at some point in time, you're going to progress to the point of either being available,
either being questionable or being doubtful like Joelle and B is going into tonight's game.
Just gut feeling going into that, going into this, I don't think he plays.
And the doubtful idea or even the questionable idea, when you're talking about the end of
a season, when you're talking about still not having any other pieces back, whether it's
Paul George, Maxi or even Kelly Ubrei, why would I even have him go out there and play?
If you're pretty much, you're in the play internament, I know there are a couple of games
out of actually getting to the fifth seed or the sixth seed, but that seems like it's miles
away right now.
Why even roll the dice with someone as important as valuable as Joelle and B at this point
in the season?
So for me, my gut feeling Keith, he does not play tonight.
I mean, I have a feeling that he probably won't either, but let's think about this.
When they say you get loyered up, right?
So what's the best way that we can put him on the injury report?
And if he does play, we're not going to get fined, right?
For anything.
Well, have him listen to this doubtful.
Right?
No, he got better and better.
But in my think, I do think that they need to hurry up and bring him back.
I mean, the thing about it is, Joelle and B then Street Clothes is starting to get old,
right?
Is getting tiring for the, just to get tiring for the sixers because it's getting tiring
for the fans.
And the crazy thing is the last time he did play against the Kings, he did have 37 points.
He flat out dominated him.
Now he's going out there and he hasn't played in a while.
So if you do expect there to be some rust, but it comes a point where you got to take
the bandaid off after a while, the guy has to get out there and play, you know, it just
does.
And this is just one of those things that keep being prolonged and prolonged and prolonged.
And I do see your point, wait until they come home, right?
You know, play, you know, you play these two games and then you have to go home game
against Oklahoma City.
He can miss that game, but then play the next one against what the Chicago Bulls, right?
That's right.
That's right.
I understand that whole heartedly, but from a standpoint of like, you know, from competitiveness,
from wanting to be out there for competing, you know, from saying like, this is supposed
to be one of the most dominant big men around when he plays, bro, you got to get out there
and show it sometimes.
Like do it.
Like just get out there.
Now again, I get it from this game you played and you got to go back to altitude and
play in Utah, which could be a little tough.
And then you got to face OKC, which is one of the best teams out there.
But now you got to go out there and just play.
You got to play and and and and I get it like resting them and all that.
But come on, Joel, you missed a lot of games.
It's time to get out there and make that money.
I agree.
And I'm seeing Jack in here saying, you know, you want to play it because it takes him
two weeks to get in the shape.
I couldn't agree with that more, which is why I'm glad there's three weeks left in this
season.
So you got you got six days before that 25th game, before the game on the 25th, I should
say, same game as PG comes back.
I just think that's a perfect time.
And I know rushing it.
You can't rush it at this point, which you'll be when originally he was going to be
reevaluated after three games, and that was what seven or eight games ago now.
So I think you're right on the money when you talk about the league saying, all right,
you got to put something other than out.
What do we deal with here?
It's not serious.
You got to at least remove the ball along.
I think again, just going off gut feeling, like you said, we're going to hear from Nick
Nurse before the game tonight.
And around then is when we're going to hear, well, you know, we'll we'll look at what
he does.
It's shoot around.
And if things progress even further, you know, he might be available at the absolute
best.
I think that's the way you can look at it for the 76ers.
I want to stress this before we move on to our next point, the next segment.
In no way, shape or form is this celebrating an injury.
This is talking about the number one team in the East pretty much wire to wire this year,
losing their best player.
We'll talk about that when we return.

News came out earlier this morning.
Sham Sarani had dropped in the news that Kate Cunningham has a collapsed lung and is expected
to misquote an extended period of time.
The best team in the Eastern Conference just got worse.
Now I know some people might look at that and say, Hey, the doors open.
Maybe the doors open a little bit there for the sixers.
I mean, when you balance that out with Jason Taden coming back for the Boston Celtics,
I think the door is cracked if anything Keith, what's your read on that situation with
Kate cutting it?
I mean, as I say, a situation with Kate, but for the sixers, I think the sixers got
like a whole lot more to worry about than Kate Cunningham.
Like, I mean, we're talking about a team in the playing right now, like trying to get
out of the playing tournament.
I mean, but the cage situation, when you look at it, you know, he is, you know, this is
a guy who's a candidate for MVP, you know, he's definitely going to be a first or second
team all NBA selection.
It's sad, man, because he is the engine that keeps this team going.
Now me personally, I kind of felt like that the team that come out of the East was going
to be the Boston Celtics after they got Jason Taden back and we look and we see how they
play, right?
You know, Detroit is a, is a greedy team, they bring it, they do all that other stuff,
but I felt like Boston was going to be the best team when it was all said and done.
It may not end up that way in the, in the standings, but I felt that way once the playoffs
of becomes that Boston is what's going to be the team coming out of the East.
Now if you're the 76ers though, if you could get that AC, then maybe, and if everything
goes well, then it could be an interesting series for you.
It could be kind of sort of like when the 76ers face the Chicago Bulls years ago, when
they, when, when, when their roads went down, right?
So it could be one of those things, but I need to know a little bit more about this K thing
because it said a mild collapse and when you think of a lung collapse, you think, wow,
this guy's going to be out for a long time, but it said it could be several, a couple
weeks, several weeks.
So we'll see how long he's going to be out.
And then how can he play when he comes back because I'm really with the lungs, you know,
that's going to impact the breathing, a lot of other things.
So there's a lot going on and I would like to learn more about it.
But to me, as far as the 76ers, they got to get healthy themselves and we just have to
see what they're going to look back when they get all their players, what they're going
to look like when they get all their players back.
Yeah.
Right now I feel like any news surrounding the Celtics or surrounding the pistons, it
feels like these are the guys in the penthouse suite and we're just happy to be in the
building.
That's just kind of how it feels right now.
So yeah, hey, speedy recovery, this is a serious thing, whether mild or not, this is
a lung we're talking about here with K cutting him, obviously something bigger than basketball,
but in terms of just basketball, the sixers are looking way far up the elevator shaft
before they can worry about anything that goes on with either the Celtics or the pistons
is my ultimate take on it.
Also not the sixers, but related to another incredible night for Jared McCain last night
with the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Do you think they'll ever be a point Keith, where we're just over this?
I know some people might think, oh, deadline was month, you know, it was a month and a half
and go, why are we even worried about it?
Well, because he should still be here.
That's why I think a lot of people are worried about it.
And he's also exactly what the 76ers would need right now, somebody to come off the bench,
somebody to be a spark, somebody to hit threes last night.
He goes out there and he has himself an incredible game for Oklahoma City Thunder.
And he plays 26 minutes last night, I believe it was drops in.
Maybe I have that reversed 29 minutes, 26 points, five of nine from three and also comes
up with two rebounds, it also comes up with two assists or should be three rebounds
and two assists.
Do you think sixers fans will ever get over the Jared McCain deal?
You know, if he goes into playoffs and he struggles mightily when, you know, the game,
you know, if he's getting torched in the playoffs on the defensive end of being a liability,
if he has a tough time getting shots and down the road next season or something, he can't
produce like he is right now, they're never going to be certain people say, see, I told
you, I told you, I told you, right, I think that's what it is.
But right now, like, you know, it just looks bad, I mean, it looks bad because, I mean,
I told you, Mark, is one of those things when a guy comes off of a knee injury, it typically
takes some a year or so to get back.
But then it takes five months after they play for them to get back to being who they were.
And right now, he looks like the guy that he was last year and it just seems like this
is a perfect situation for him.
The 76ers look like a squad that got a little impatient with him and not knowing that with
doctors say about how people are when they recover, they just got rid of.
And right now, no, people are looking at this like, this might, it looks like one of
the worst trades ever, right, because you didn't get anything at all.
But again, there are going to be some sixers front off his executives, hoping and praying
that this dude gets torched in the playoffs, so they can say, I told you, I told you he wasn't
the right one, he wasn't the one.
But nah, he looks really good, man, really good, I mean, you're looking at his highlights
and everything and you're saying, hey, man, the sixers could use that right about now.
I mean, hey, they can use Eric Gordon making threes, right?
Did you see that the Oklahoma City Thunder even, I mean, they're mimicking, they're not mocking,
they're mimicking Jared McCain's three point celebration with that, you know, thumb out
in the two other fingers, you know, what do you know, when he knocks out there, it's like,
they love him, man.
I mean, look, when a guy comes out the bench and drops 26 points, knocks down, what is
it now with the Oklahoma City Thunder, 20 to 26% from beyond the arc?
That's pretty good.
That's pretty damn, or 43%, excuse me, from beyond the arc.
That's pretty damn good.
But I just remember, I just want to sixers fans to remember, according to your fearless
leader, Darryl Mori, you sold high, you sold high.
And they could have got a lot for him this summer if they had a held on to him.
I mean, you know, and Jared's a nice guy, I mean, a nice guy, I mean, it's weird though,
because he's like a national story now because of that tree.
Yeah.
That's all everyone's talking about, you know, the sort of talking about, yeah.
It ain't fun.
It ain't fun.
When we come back, we'll talk about this King's game tonight, also on another national
perspective, expansion is being toyed with right now in the NBA.
We'll talk about that more when we return.

Before we get to the King's Keith, what I hear expansion in the NBA.
The first thing I think of is of course they want to put a team in Vegas, which they do.
I also think of it's a crime that Seattle does not have a basketball team.
I grew up in the era of debt left shrimp and Sean Campano and all those guys.
They need a squad or Gary Peyton.
Let's not leave him out obviously.
I can't believe I said debt left shrimp before Gary Peyton, but anyway, they were the
better NBA Jam duo.
The better NBA Jam duo was debt left shrimp and Sean Camp.
But anyway, Seattle and Vegas, where's the talent come from?
What's your thought on expansion?
You know what it's funny because those two cities are the two teams that everyone's been
talking about for a while, right?
Yeah, absolutely.
I mean, you even heard like a couple years ago, LeBron talks about he wants to own the
team in Vegas, right?
So, you know, it will be, I mean, I guess it will be great to see that, to see him become
an NBA owner and having the team there.
And you know, you look at Vegas, they built that new arena, it's set up for them to have
a team there.
Like we know the A's are going to go there.
You already have the Raiders there, the A's are there and believe me, I've been, I took
my daughter to an A's game, dude, in Vegas one summer.
That was a great atmosphere, yeah, because I've been to a WNBA game before and it was
okay, but I went to the A's game, it was unbelievable, I really enjoyed it.
So my thing is it makes a lot of sense.
And then Seattle is one of those places that everybody wants the team to go back there.
You know, the question mark is, well, who comes out East, then you hear maybe, you know,
the Pelicans will become an Eastern Conference team.
But yeah, I mean, I think that it's going to be good for the NBA to have that.
You talk about where it's the talent going to come from.
You know, it's going to be probably, you know, one of those, you know, those supplement
drafts where teams, if they don't protect players, they're going to go out there and probably
struggle for a little bit.
But at the same time, you know, I do think that it will be good to have a team in Vegas
and then we great to have a team back in Seattle, you know, back in the back there.
So I think it's going to be great for basketball.
I really do.
I do.
Yeah, I agree.
I will say this about LeBrog because I heard the same thing you heard about him one of
the get involved with the team in Vegas.
So apparently he was asked last night after the sick, after the Lakers, 124, 116 win over
Houston about potentially having a piece in the Vegas franchise and he said, no, I'm
not.
So look, that could just be posturing right now.
The only reason I even mentioned is not to disagree.
It's just that that's the latest that's out there right now.
He did say on the shop, his digital shop show some years ago, I want a team in Vegas.
I want the team in Vegas.
Yeah.
That's that's where the tie-in comes, but look, that could all just be posturing at
this point because he's a member of the Lakers as of right now.
So we'll see where that ends up developing.
My thing though is, yes, you tell me there's a team in Seattle, hell yeah.
You tell me there's a team in Vegas, okay, you know, but if you tell me you're going
to add two more teams to accommodate that, where's the talent coming from?
And I'll take it a step further because earlier today I heard Seth Greenberg on ESPN talk
about, no, there's there is talent.
There's other opinions that are out there.
I think Tracy McGrady came out and said, you know, where's the talent coming from?
I agree with him, but Seth Greenberg's argument was the talent exists.
You just have to cultivate the talent.
And my argument to that is, that seems hard enough for the cultivators right now.
So now you mean to tell me they're going to stretch that even more thin?
Like there are talented people developing talented players, but there's not too, there's
not too much talent to develop talent.
It seems like we're thin already watching the NBA.
How does two more teams make sense other than, all right, Vegas seems interesting after
a big gambling scare in the off season with the NBA.
You're now talking about putting a team in Vegas, but you know, it is what it is.
And then you all talk about the nostalgia of this possible Seattle Super Sonics coming
back.
Like all that sounds great, but I would be more for relocation before I'd be for necessarily
expansion.
You know, here's the thing though, I didn't think there is enough talent.
And I understand what crazy McGregor is saying, I understand what you're saying.
But I also think that this is a global game nowadays, right?
You got people from all over the world.
Now what's going to have to happen is, see, I think the problem what we had is, I think
there's too many guys on the team now, right?
Like, you know, you got the three two way players and then you got the 15 roster spots.
And this and that.
If you got rid of the two way guys, right?
And I know the two way guy, the two way thing has enabled Dom Barlow and enabled
Jabari Walker to be able to get NBA standard deals the same thing for just the networks.
But I do think that when you have 18 guys, essentially, you have the equivalent of three
G league dudes at the end of the bench.
But if you just broke it down to 15, right?
And then you have two more teams and there are certain guys playing overseas to like foreigners
who are legitimate players, right?
You can get them from those deals.
I think it will work out.
I do.
I just think that right now, the league just has too many cats playing, right?
Too many cats.
And like back in the day, no one said where was the talent coming from when they had 12 players on the roster.
It was hard to make the NBA back then, right?
So to me, I think that it could work out, but you just have to,
you just got to like rework some of these rosters, man.
Like you just have to like, and I know, and I know it sounds bad.
But at the end of the bench,
it's just maybe too many guys like I just think 18 guys on the basketball team,
you got 20 coaches, 18 guys, you know, you know, it's just a lot.
The only thing I'll say to that is you also have like how many guys in your starting five playing 82 games?
How many guys in your starting five were playing 70 games?
You know, that's the only thing that's changed.
Like literally in the NBA nowadays, you have to literally the rule, 65 games you're not an MVP.
That's why we're looking at Tyrese Maxx.
We're even looking at Cade Cunningham, these guys that have had, as you mentioned,
you know, all NBA type seasons, but they had bad injuries at the end of the year,
obviously at the wrong time.
And now all of a sudden they might not be able to qualify for those words.
So for me, I kind of get why the rosters expanded.
But if you are going to expand the league with two other teams, I agree.
Cut down those rosters again and maybe spread the love out to those other two squads as well.
I mean, you are, I mean, but you are, you could cut down a league and you are saying something that's right.
Like if we look at, look at two teams that people really, they have a tough time getting free agents, right?
Like I guess one team, let's say Memphis Grizzlies, like people don't want to go to Memphis, right?
They don't want to go to Memphis.
So you look at the Memphis Grizzlies and you say to yourself, like,
okay, well, they were the Vancouver Grizzlies.
And then they left, right?
So you go to Memphis.
Then we look at, you know, you look at New Orleans, like, you know, New Orleans used to be, you know,
at one point, weren't they, they were like the New Orleans Hornets.
They were the team in Charlotte, right?
So then you get this job, then the Charlotte, they come out with their own team called the Charlotte Bobcats.
And then that don't work.
So then New Orleans changed their name.
So then next, you know, Charlotte was able to go back there.
So these are three, these are three franchises that we're talking about that basically, you know,
one became an expansion team because the team left, right?
So yeah, you're right.
Like you could basically say, it's not really working in New Orleans.
That's a college town.
People love, or they love football and they love LSU football.
So yeah, let's say go to Vegas.
Then maybe people will go and come see you play.
So I could see both sides.
But again, I do think that when you have 18 guys on a roster,
it's just diluted talent at that point.
It really is.
Because you can look at some of these two-way guys.
There are guys paying for Barcelona in Spain,
or a plan at over in Czechoslovakia somewhere that may be better than them,
but they're over there because they're making more money if that makes sense.
Oh, absolutely makes sense.
Yeah.
Makes a lot of sense.
Yeah.
Sixers win tonight, Keith.
What do you think?
You know, probably not, probably not because the last time they beat them,
but they actually had to have 40 and Joel and Beat had to have 37.
And that was that on.
Now, the 76ers did win 11 of the last 13 games.
So that is something, right?
But I think they lose tonight.
I'm with you.
Unfortunately, I'm with you.
