Hey Bay Area, good morning. Coffee, please. Wake up with Sarah and Vinnie.
This is amazing.
Every morning on Alice, 97-3, this next story is very important to me.
Okay, I'm ready.
And we've talked about this. There is a reality for some of us who are germophones.
No, no, no, no. Thank you, though.
Yeah, well, I mean, just good looking surface.
Well, that's great and courageous.
Well, now we're going to get some male models.
No, I personally do not want to eat just any dessert.
Oh, right.
It needs to meet a standard or I'm not taking those empty calories.
I'll wait, I'll skip, but I'm not eating that thing.
It's not good enough.
It's not good enough.
I mean, I'll put a fork in.
I mean, come on.
Hershey just announced, by the way, Reese's peanut butter cups are the bar.
If it's not at least as good as a peanut butter cup, I don't really want it.
So a brownie would meet the bar, some ice cream would meet the bar, milkshake, whatever.
Okay.
But anything like, I don't know, less than a peanut butter cup.
I'm yellow cake with bonk ice cream, ice cream, no, no, no, no, they say here, if you're
boycotting Reese's peanut butter cups because they changed the recipe, did you hear this
story?
I think you talked about some certain oil out of them or something.
They changed their recipe and people noticed and somehow they thought no one would.
And they're now saying that they're going back to the classic recipe for all Reese's products,
starting next year, which means anyone like myself who does enjoy a Reese's will wait
till next year.
It's going to be a long year.
Did you notice?
I haven't had one yet.
What did they do?
What did they change?
They changed some, let's see here a couple months ago, Brad Reese, the grandson of Reese's
peanut butter cup inventor H.B. Reese, complained that they'd changed the classic recipe, replacing
milk chocolate with compound coatings and peanut butter with peanut butter style.
Oh, yeah, we talked about this when Cam was here, remember Vinnie when Cam and Mason were
with us.
Oh.
Well, that's what I heard you talking about it.
You were listening.
I did.
I listened to a lot of of you guys's show.
At the time, Hershey said they're made the same way as they always have, but they didn't
specifically deny Brad's claims and other reports have said that they changed the formulas
to contain less chocolate because it's cheaper.
We make more money, the thing that's wrong in the world, the business world in general
in my opinion, and I'm not a great businessman in any way, shape, or form.
But the idea that you have a successful product that people love and everyone who buys it
is happy with this product.
I will spend my hard-earned money on your product, maybe till the day I die.
It's my favorite.
It's my favorite.
It's my favorite.
For you, that's not enough.
For you, you've got to come up with new and exciting ways to bastardize the product
I already love because business has to grow or business dies.
How is it that you can't farm this giant audience of people who love what you make?
I don't know because everyone always wants more or something.
Isn't there, I assume that I don't know who the parent company is of Reese's.
Hershey's.
Hershey's.
Hershey's is publicly loved and they are literally lawfully obliged to find new ways.
They are a board and only growth is acceptable.
Hershey is committed to making products consumers love and that means continually reviewing
our recipes to meet evolving tastes and preferences except that you'd been selling out.
Everybody loved what you were already doing.
This review process was a way of pinching pennies.
It had nothing to do with making a better product for the audience that loves them.
It's why things just get smaller so you pay the same price but you get less of whatever
it is.
Shrinkflation.
Shrinkflation.
Hershey says they're going back to the original flavor but it won't be until next year.
So I will not waste my dessert option.
Just grab a couple Oreos then.
I'll find something else.
Yeah.
No problem.
Glass of milk.
But the good news is that Reese's is going back to the original.
Sure they are.
Well that happened to Coke.
We famously lived through Coke trying to introduce a new product and everyone went nope.
I've heard that that was just a marketing ploy.
Well that's what you say if you've you know absolutely bombed out with the new price.
When they put it on the market and had the old Coke as well.
First of all everyone went oh god I got to have my old Coke and actually even Pepsi sales
went up.
Like everything went up then everybody tried the new Coke then everybody hated the new
Coke and then they're like hey Coke classic and they wanted to make it a classic.
Well it's a likely story.
Sure.
800, 400, 3697 is our number and Maddie's on the show with your texts.
Good morning.
Love listening to you all.
You make my day.
Vinnie do you travel with disposable sheets?
I learned about their existence on the gram.
You should check it out.
Have a great day.
Tiffany and Napa.
No I never heard of this.
They let a lot of germs through Vinnie.
They're disposable.
I want your own sheets.
I want your own bed condom.
I have just a little wool.
You'd call it a sleeping bag because it's shaped like that but it's a little wool sleeping
bag type thing.
I think it's considered to be a sleeping bag liner.
Ah okay.
So you can warm up, you know, or thicken up the.
But I just I'll pull myself into that up to here.
Put your head on your own pillow and then put my head on my own and then lay there
like a corpse in the bed without moving.
I can't.
Pencil stick Vinnie.
What do you do?
What if somebody breaks into your room?
You're stuck in that little bag.
Yeah.
Now you're in a cocoon.
Holmes, I always flick that thing over.
Oh, we can break that.
No, they can't.
Big strong guy.
707.
I thought you were crazy bringing your own bed, Vinnie.
And so last month when I came back from spring training staying at a casino resort with bedbugs.
Do you travel?
Oh no.
Yeah.
I don't think I don't think your own stuff is going to help you with that.
Your own stuff.
I don't think so either.
It's actually a bedbug collector.
And then you bring them home.
Yep.
You guys stop it.
You stop it.
You stop it.
We're not doing anything.
You're the one doing stuff.
Yeah.
You're being ridiculous.
Yeah.
Have a Reese's cup and be quiet, Vinnie.
Yeah.
And enjoy it.
Even though it's totally different than he used to be.
Oh.
Start your day off the right way.
Oh.
Oh.
It's Sarah and Vinnie.
Wake up.
Wake up with Alice.
97-3.
