Victor Davis Hanson: In His Own Words - Victor Davis Hanson: Democrats Have a Socialist Problem They Can’t Run Away From

About this episode

WGKM is made possible by:

Public sympathy for Lindsay Clancy reflects a broader culture that searches for explanations when women commit horrific acts while increasingly treating men as presumptively guilty or disposable. He contends that these attitudes—combined with years of attacks on masculinity and unequal expectations in relationships and institutions—are helping convince a generation of young men to withdraw from dating, marriage, and family life, argues Victor Davis Hanson on tomorrow’s edition of “Victor Davis Hanson: In His Own Words”Victor Davis Hanson also argues that Democrats increasingly embraced policies once associated with the socialist left, only to watch candidates distance themselves from the socialist label when competing beyond safely Democratic constituencies. He contrasts that political repositioning with Donald Trump’s unapologetic style, arguing that voters may dislike what Trump says but rarely have to wonder whether he actually means it.

Hello and welcome. This is Victor Davis-Hanson in his own words. And this is our Saturday edition where we do something a little bit different in the middle segment. We're going to be looking at, we are looking at the presidencies and this week we'll look at both James Polk and Lyndon Baines Johnson's presidency. So stay with us for that. We'll go to a few messages first. Hello, this is Victor Davis-Hanson for the Daily Signal. I have a new book out on September 8th of this year. I think you're going to enjoy it. It's called Counter Revolution, the fall and rise of Donald Trump and the Maga movement. It starts right after January 6th and it details the lack of popularity of Donald Trump, the invective that he endured, the five civil and criminal trials, the effort to get him off the ballot, the raid on Marlago, the two impeachments earlier,

one in which he was tried as a private citizen and yet he came back. How did he come back? And why did he come back? I explain in the book how he defeated his primary opponents, how he was outspent. He had a hostile media and he defeated the Democratic machine and Camilla Harris. It starts on January 6th. It ends pretty much now in May of 2026. What's the title about? Donald Trump is not a revolutionary. He's not a revisionist. He's a counter revolutionary. This time around he is not addressing just the symptoms of the progressive project of the last 50 years. He's talking about the causes, not just an open border but how to stop illegal immigration entirely, not just crime but sending the national garden to make sure cities are safe, not just an Iranian nuclear threat but ending that threat that seven other presidents had identified but did not act on, not just addressing the transgender

issue or the Green New Deal and all of those issues that were so dear to the Democratic party, but ending them, defunding NPR and PBS. So it is a counter revolution to unwind and to roll back the entire progressive project of the last 50 years. I think you're going to like it. It's pretty interesting. It chronicles the greatest political comeback in our recent political history. Thank you very much. I'm Victor Davis Hanson for the Daily Signal. Welcome back. Victor Davis Hanson in his own words and Victor is the Martin and Ely Anderson, Senior Fellow in Military History and Classics at the Hoover Institution and the Wayne and Marsha Busky Distinguished Fellow in History at Hillsdale College. You can find him at his website. VictorHanson.com is the URL and the name of the website is the blade of Perseus. And today is a

special day. Victor Davis Hanson, it is your birthday. So happy birthday. I'm a 55. Yes. 73 years old. I never thought. I never thought I'd get this old. Yeah. As all youth believe. And I thought after my misadventure, I wouldn't make it to 73. So it's a toss. Yeah. So everything's cream on the coffee after this. So and your color as many people have been noting is looking very good these days. So we're pretty. I'm in limbo but I I'm just waiting to get these scans and blood biopsies every three months. Yeah. And you're in limbo in the possibility that your cancer-free limbo. So the possibility that your cancer-free is greater than the possibility that you'll get that same cancer anyways back. As they explained it to me, if I have one more negative test

at 320 days, I have a good chance of going three years without recurrent because 40% of the time it recurs. And the other thing is the conditions which led to the problem because I don't smoke, I don't drink, I don't use drugs. It may have been genetic but nobody in my families ever had lung cancer. They've had other cancers and I have two brothers that are heavy smokers. My father was a heavy smoker. No, none of them have cancer. So they were suggesting it was probably the foul error of the San Joaquin Valley especially during the almond boom. We have dust in the air for particular matter for 30 days or pesticides. For five years from 80 to 85 in my early 30s, late 20s, I use pesticides on 180 acres and in those days you didn't wear a high-motsuit or anything

mask. And I put on everything from dimethoate to periquot to cappedown to di brome. Those are all pretty deadly things. But I don't know what it was. I think I'm getting to the point where the more I read there's an article today that the mRNA vaccination, they have written it just a a referee article came out that it has given people a much higher propensity of getting four cancers. Liver, breast, bladder and lung cancer. And I had two of the Moderna shots and the second Moderna shot maybe sick as a dog for about a month. Then I had three belt four belts up COVID but two of them lasted for five months. So maybe that was the origins of what they're saying is the

conditions by which you got this opacity consolidation of your lung that turned into cancer. We don't want that to happen in your other lobes. So you've got to be careful, get clean air and I didn't say to them no more vaccinations or I never had a booster. I quit. But we'll see it just you just you can't live your life waiting for the results of a test. Just go by. I'm sitting in the house where my grandfather Reese Davis died at the age of 86 and he worked that day irrigating. And my grandmother Georgia way Davis lived to be 93. I don't know why their three daughters Lila died at 60 from kidney cancer Pauline. My mother died at 66 from breast cancer brain cancer. And my aunt Lucy died at 49 from they all three died early. But yeah, that's hard to know why but they

it's very rare to have a male. I think I'm the first I had a grandfather who had 80 died of oral cancer. Swedish but he had been gassed and was completely disabled from phosphine and mustard gas combination in 1918 and he had damaged his gums and stomach and esophagus eight out a third of his stomach. Yeah. So that was they said that that information had caused it. Yeah. Later. But I don't know of any other male in my family except myself. They got cancer. But I have a daughter who died of leukemia and 26. So what about the females on your grandfather's side of your mother's? Yeah. My grandfather's. Your aunt's probably got my grandfather's grandmother died of breast cancer early. His mother died of cancer early. All three of his daughters died. Two of them died. Well, as I said, no one lived past 66. They all three had cancer. And

his brothers three they had boys all the boys were smokers and lived to be 88 and 94. And the girls died before 50 from breast cancer. So there was the the idea that the Davis family had a breast cancer gene and all the women. I'm very worried about my daughter and I was worried about my daughter died of cancer. But I'd always worried about breast cancer. But she had leukemia. Yeah. I think there's something toxic. Put it this way. The people who lived on this farm before the age of organophosphates and organo chloride. Yeah. So when I asked my grandfather when I was farming in the 18th, I'd come home from Stanford on weekends and help him. I'd say what did you use? Because I was putting on symazine, carmax, pre-emergent, roundup, paracquot, arsenic,

AT, arsenic, which was deadly along the road sides. I was using deep thin, diomethoate. I put on malaphania and that was nothing much. Diabrome, cappedan, binlite. The fungicides were the worst, I think. And then I put on surf land once, which was as an agent-oing component. My whole arm turned orange for six months. And I went to the doctor and he didn't know what to do. And I got a salmon-tasted mouth. I could taste it in my mouth. So I was exposed to I was very foolish as a young between the ages. I got my PhD right when I, at the end of my 25th year, until 30, I farm. I didn't do classics or to teach. But my point is that so my mother and her sisters grew up in the 30s and 40s when they had people forget that the American pesticide system was part of the German

petrochemical system. So, Zygon, the... So it's like... Zygon B. Zygon B. That was a precursor of the chemicals. And they were advertised when I took over the house, I cleaned all the house, but they had all the literature from the pesticide salesmen's in the 1940s. And they also... I was... they were... give it to my grandfather. He was very skeptical of it. And they said, one spray and you're... everything's dead on your vineyard. You can walk in your vineyard and everything is on the ground. And I'm thinking, you mean, good mites, good insects, praying mantises, and we call perifuac... liquid death. My brother's in eye, because when you... if you put it in the tank and it dripped out from a leaky joint on the pipes, and there was water in that puddle during the winter from rain on a mallyway. If somebody drank that like a bird, it

would die. And there was no closed systems. And today you... you take the pesticide, you don't even open it. You just put it in a machine which pumps it into the spray tank. But in those days, you just put it in, it splashed up on you and everything. So what I'm getting at is there was a period from... my grandfather was born in 1890. So it was my grandmother, but he didn't take over the farm until he was 20. His mother had died and his father was ill. So from 1910 to when he actively formed, by the time organo fast-flights and organo chloride pesticides came on the market after World War II, he had already left that DNA stage because you're much more vulnerable when your cells are replicating. But my... his kids hadn't. That's when they were young. But I asked him, when you were young, what did you use? Well, I used nicotine, nicotine powder. And I said, well, why was it bad? He said,

no, all the people who smoked, I never smoked. So they had too much nicotine. And when you would spray the dust after a while, then they'd get nicotine poisoning. He would walk down the rose with a little duster, not a picture of him doing it. And then I said, what else did you use? arsenic, which is toxic, but I don't know if it's necessarily carcaginic. And that was it. And then he had natural stuff like hot pepper and stuff like that. So I do think that... And we had a problem with a pesticide called nemagon, DBCP. It was a miracle pesticide because in sandy soil that nematodes would kill plumbing petroutes, we used to put manure to distract them. And they get tied up in the manure coarseness of the nematodes. But if you put DBCP, they really pushed it was really expensive. Nemagon, gone or nematodes. It would cleanse your field and your dead,

if you had plums and peaches with bacterial gumnosus, they would almost be like they had a fountain of youth. You'd have a little tree that was so sick, it'd be leaking gum, the plums would drop off. Then all of a sudden it was cured. And then we found out that it didn't break down organically. It went down and it was in all of the water table here. And some people in Livingston, I'm doing this by memory, but Livingston, California, who were working at the plant, were all sterile. So they came out in 1980 and they tested all the water and said, you exceed the parts per million. And then it would go down. It was a heavier than water. So the point was when it went down below the well, you were okay. But then we rebooted the classification, said one part by billion. So then it was all reclassified. They outlawed it, but I never had any problem with sterility. Nobody I know did, but it was another carcinogen. Yeah. Well, speaking of somebody who

is waiting and is in the balance, just a little bit, I don't really like this case personally, but this Lindsey Clancy case is big on the agenda. And today, Thursday, we understand that the jury has come back to the judge and said, we are 11. And there's one person against our opinion, the other 11 opinions. And the presses are saying it's because the 11 want guilty, but insane, right? So she or not guilty by reason of insanity. And the one juror is not budging on it. And I was wondering if you have any thoughts on that. I wanted to lie. The media lies. And it's taking place in Massachusetts. So I know that the jury has left wing and the media has left wing that covers it, the local media. So I hope they're lying that maybe the one person who's holding out is opposed to the people who want a convicted or killing their children.

But they seem to know things I don't know or you don't know. They insist that the holdout is the sane person. The thing is a couple of things. It's not new. It goes back to Greek mythology and Euripides wrote a play in 442 BC. I'm doing this by memory called Euripides Medea. And in the play, Medea, Jason of the Argonauts, there's a flashback. And he was able to get the golden fleas because Medea of Colcus traded on her father, fell in love with Jason, and showed him how to get the fleas and get through the clashing rocks of Simplagodese. That was the mythical mythological reference to the boss for us. Okay. So they come home and then he realizes he married a foreigner, an Easterner who was a witch. He had magical thoughts he did.

And she had no standing. And so then they had children. So his argument was, well, it'll be the best for our children if I dump you. And then they can grow up as Greeks and I'll marry the Queen of Corinth, the young girl. And she's Greek. And Medea goes, oh, okay. But then you don't really realize that she gives a cloak to the girl that eats her skin off. And then she slaughters the two children. Euripi says, a tendency in all 19 plays as to solvically is that you're sympathized with one character to about line 700. And then it switches. So you say, well, poor Medea, she's dumb. She's a spurn woman. And then she kills her children. And she's a monster. So it was a topic that people, and she has what they call a Deus Ex-Maschanah. She's saved when the playwright doesn't know what to do. Then a God comes down and says, okay, get on your chariot and go away.

But she's exiled to somewhere. So we've had that a lot, people killing their children. We've had a lot of women like we see now identifying with a murderer. But mostly it is young men. So when I was in college, it was Ted Bundy. They mass murdered. He was kind of good-looking. Sick women or even sicker was Charles Manson. They would line up when he came in. Or we see that with Luigi Manjio. But this is different. You have women that are outside cheering her on, so to speak. And they're either saying that her husband drove her to this or she was postpartum depression. But they're trying to find excuses for what she did. And there's no intention to what each child felt. Imagine being a little child and looking at your mother when she comes in instead of to give you food or to comfort you. She's there to

strangle you and the other children are watching. And then the next one. And the next one. And we don't know the whole gruesome details how that happened. But nobody seems to worry about there. All those lives were canceled out. And the empathy from the women is with her. Because she tried to commit suicide and not paralyzed. The problem with it is right now we have a crisis in the United States of young men, mostly young white guys who are not dating. They're not marrying. They're not buying houses. And they're suffering from prolonged adolescence. The proverbial, I'm living in my parents garage and I'm playing video games. And then I watch porn all day or something like that. And part of the diagnosis of that syndrome or the causation is, well, they grew up in an error where all they heard was white supremacy, white male, white male, white male, white, white, white, white, white, white, white, white, white, white, white, white, white,

from one side. And then toxic masculine, toxic masculine, toxic masculine, sexual harassment. So then in that world they grew up in, if you had a divorce trial, it was a man's fault. If you had a custody to ball, you give it to the women. If you need alimony, no man in his right mind would take alimony from a woman. You give it to the woman. Even though many marriages, she made more money than the man. And if you're on campus, and some, you know, and I can tell you, I watched this six or seven times where professors that I knew were charged with sexual harassment. And in every case, which I don't want to imply means every case nationwide. But in these six cases, I remember, I remember the number, the female student, because we were at a commuter, commuter state campus, were older in their 20s. Some cases in their 30s and divorced. And they made approaches to the male.

And the male foolishly got involved with them, and then it didn't work right, of course. So then they said they were sexually harassed. So I remember a case of a guy who was so upright. And he always go, and he was from a very fundamental religion. And he had like eight kids. And he was in his mid 50s, so-called menopausal years. And there was a very attractive young woman in her 30s. And she would go around and around and around. And they would walk together to his class. And I was teaching when they came in. They weren't nothing wrong. But he was so happy. He'd never had that attention. She was beautiful. And she would kind of go, oh, I'll just make up a name because maybe his relatives, I don't want maybe listening. But oh, Bob, I'm so glad you're my teacher. Professor Hanson, you see Bob, he's coming. And it was just so obvious. And she wasn't showing up finally. So I would go. And after about halfway through, she didn't show up. So he gave her an F.

So I was on the departmental adjudication board that goes up before it goes to the university committee. And so one university committee, that was a proto-sexual harassment officer just starting. And they come in and they said, did you kiss her? No. Did you have sexual relations with her? No. Did you chase her around your desk? No. Did you call her? No. He didn't. Did you say sexually suggestive thing? How dare you? I've never used the word, D-A-M-N, you know. And then they asked the key thing. Did you ever touch her? And he said, I tapped her on the bat a couple times when she came in and said, I said, hi, how are you doing? Did you hug her? No. But you tapped her on her shoulder. Did you touch her brawstrap? I don't know. You don't know if he touched her brawstrap. End of questions. No teaching for a year.

We're going to put you in a room by yourself and no sabbatical, no merit. And we'd like you to retire as soon as possible. And that whole world like that that said that they factor the male is guilty, not the woman. And there's no such thing as a conniving woman who wants, who uses sexuality to tempt men that otherwise in their youthful period did not attract female attention. But once they had a title or a PhD for the first time in their life, women thought they were authoritative figures. So they went to their head. But they had nothing. You couldn't say that. So my point is after all, and then you get affirmative action and white male and all this stuff. And you juxtapose that to why you're giving privileges to women and minorities and you're faulty and whiteness in general and toxic masculine in particular, you've had a whole subset of the economy just drop out.

And my family, I think there's 10 maybe eight that I know of cousins, nephews, you name them. They're white males that are very, very bright and they're very, but they're not marrying and they're not dating. They're not gay. They're not dating. They're not married. They haven't they don't on a home and they're in their 30s, 40s. And so what I'm getting at is that if you add this to it and you make it a cause to live and you get you publicize that a lot of women are siding with her because she's a victim or a postpartum depression and you're not even mentioning that you cannot procreate without half of the process male. And the male has no, no word at all in this case. So when they say she killed her children, she didn't kill her children. She killed their children. They killed her husband's children. But these women aren't talking about that at all. It's as if

she has the sole right to do that as if it's an abortion. And when you see that, the natural response, a lot of men to the extent they follow or hear about it, well, who are these women? They're IEDs or everywhere. They're pop up. I don't want to marry some woman that's sympathizing with somebody that kills your kids. So my wife has a baby and then she gets traumatized and she strangles our kid and then she's set free. You see what I mean? And so it's bad. And this is a sick society when you have the Louis jant mangeony killer that they write a musical after or you have the killer of Charlie Kirk, who's a trans hero or people, you know, claim he was killed by the Massa. All of this adulation for the victimizer, the killer, and no worried about the target, no worry about that. So it has a lot of narratives in it. Yeah, they're all bad. They're all bad. All right, Victor. So let me first, let's go to our sponsor because we're at that time. And then

So, okay Victor, I, the news this week on the left, there's so much, but Obama has come out to say that AOC would make a good candidate. AOC is a member of the DSA and then another big wig on the left. James Carville has said

the Democrats will never elect for a presidential for a president, a socialist or a member of the DSA. I would say of all the major figures that I know of, I have the least in common with James Carville, both his attitude, his speech, his vulgarity, but he's right. And you, why do I know he's right? Because El Said is running away from socialism. James Talleriko is basically a socialist, if not worse, to he said it capitalism was bad. I could go through all of his quotes. He's disowning all of his quotes. Jackson and Maine like platinum before disowning all of their quotes. The only people who say they're socialist and they're proud of it are people in blue state, local, municipal, or congressional district, state, or federal. So if they are in a state with 80% blue in New York, in Vermont, in Massachusetts,

in Minnesota. And they know they're running for Congress or the state assembly, then they're blue, they're happy to say they're socialist. But if they're running in a state, especially a purple or red state, their scrambling as fast as they can, AOC said, well, I was only a member of the New York chapter, not the national chapter. So she will try to, she's fired her staff and she'll get a new staff or rotated a mile, I should say. Can I just interrupt for a second? I believe she just admitted that she just upped her membership this year, which had in the democratic socialists. Yeah, that's what's going on. And Omni said too that he was just a state member. There's no, that's a distinction without a difference. But so they're, they'll all disown that. And that's what El Sayed is really doing. Even this Nixon woman, Angie Nixon and Florida that's running for Senate, she's so far out there. And she was bragging that she was a socialist. Now she's stopped.

She stopped. And they can be as left as they want, but they can't say they're socialist they're going to. And I wrote an article the other day trying to dispel this myth that well, we were just regular Democrats. And then all of a sudden out of nowhere, these democratic socialists came and they tried to take over our party. This is kind of Josh Shapiro kind of stuff. And what are we doing? And Chuck Summers says, big, no, no, no, no, no, no, you were a bunch of motley spoil little white affluent, downwindly, mobile people in the democratic socialist movement with a going nowhere. And then you looked at the democratic party as it evolved during the Biden and Obama earlier administration. And you said to yourself, wow, they destroyed the border. Great. They let in 12 million. They it'll equals. They want to have mass amnesia. Great. They want to pack the court. They want to destroy the electoral college. They want to destroy the filibuster.

They want to bring in Puerto Rico and Washington DC as states. Great. They want to defund the police. They want to ban fracking. They want to ban fossil fuels. They're green. This was all of our now we we've been a little extreme and said we wanted to ban the Senate and the Pentagon. But these are our people and they're all old and ossified and they can't get the message. So we're going to take going to the party because they have the money and they have the organization and they're socialist just like we are. And if you think they're not, look at their language. Schumer, you sold the win. You'll reap the world win. You don't know what's going to hit you. Gorsi just coming all or get in their faces. Harass them or all the celebrities saying they want to kill Trump or blow up the White House. So the Democrats went socialist and then the real socialist said now it's time to join the Democrats. They weren't taken over by and you know, as I said to Jack the other day, there's a reason they're not the Republican socialists, the independent socialists of America,

the socialists, they're the Democrat socialists of America. Democrat socialists. Okay. And the midterms are going to tell us about tell us something in this and that they are as you said, saying one thing before the primary is over and then going trying to tack back to the center and we saw that with Hillary Clinton. She did the same thing. But Kamala Harris did. Kamala Harris said, did I say I was against fracking? I'm not now. Did I say I opposed all deportations? I never feel that now. Did I say defund the police? Well, no, I just praised people who need to fund the police to stink to make a distinction that I didn't actually believe it. Yeah. And that's exactly what I was thinking to you know, not only because we notice it, but even that Marcus Coleman that testified. That's what I was so interesting about his testimony before the committee because his daughter was killed by an ill, not killed. She was made quadriplegic by an illegal alien. And he

says that at the end you people and you was talking to the Democrats say one thing and then the next minute you change over. So people like him are noticing. That's what they do. And I would expect them to lose big time in the midterm. But I can see a couple of things. Trump doesn't do that. Trump says I had nothing I'm not sad about Rob Brown. That was a horrible thing to say about a dead person. So they kept thinking he was going to deny it or he was going to contextualize. So I don't, and he's just today. He said, people said, what's your feeling about Harry, Prince Harry, the Sussexes, the Duchess going back to England. He said, you mean they're self-deporting? And he said, like, wow, are you happy about that? Absolutely. I'm happy. I wish they'd stay over there because I like Charles, Prince King Charles. He's a great guy. I've known him a long time.

These people were disloyal. Is he going to take it back? No. Is he going to say he didn't know what he was saying? No. So for all his faults, his people point out he is authentic and he's on apologetic and his premises, I would rather suffer the wage of being mean-spirited, tough, crazy, than the worst charge of being hypocritical and weak. And so the Democrats don't get that. He doesn't apologize for what he says. If he says, did you say grab them in the blank when you were a candidate? Is it, yeah, I thought it was off the record. Are you going to apologize? No, it was locker room talk. You know what I mean? So he's authentic. Maybe he's authentically gross as somebody to say, Victor, well, how can you support? I don't support it. I'm just telling you that these people fabricate and say they didn't say that or that was then this is now. And we all know they're going to revert back if they get elected. Everybody knows that. Trump is the same

Trump as he always is. He gets back to that anecdote. A person I know, I really respect. Trump came in 2016 to Tulare. So I said, you want to go and I said, no, I got to go give a lecture out of the state, came back. How was it? He goes, yeah, I was well. I said, do you put on the caterpillar? I didn't know what Trump was about very much. So he had the vest. The caterpillar had the boots, strong as mouth backdrop was John Deere's and then hey, bailed. No, no. We did. We went to the Clary act. It was just straight convention. I said, what did he wear? I said, he wore a red tie and a blue suit. I said, did he do a Hillary Clinton? I'm so tired and you know, or Obama. He just wants to say, you know, hey folks, no, I said, he had a grading queen's accent. And I said, no vest. No, he said it was 103 and he had a black suit on. He was sweating like a dog. So he's that way all the way. Yeah. Whatever he is, he's authentic. Yes. And you know, the key thing about

the midterm very quickly is it's time. Time. If they only have eight, eight, half weeks or running out of time, but they are incrementally picking up. The Harvard's Harris had Trump today 44%. It had a better record than Quinnipack and the others in Emerson in 2024. And it had the Republicans up generically by two. They said, well, that's an outlier. I don't think so. I think it's people digesting the socialists. They're what they are. And if Elon can put 350 million in and Trump can put 400 million in and it's not all about Trump, but it's about who these people are. They have a chance. But they're running. If Iran is just Iran right now is like a rat in an anaconda. It's being squeezed. It's just a question of how long it can breathe before it expires. I can't hurt anybody anymore. It's completely broke. And you know what? As I

said earlier, if that regime explodes and people get out in the street and weigh American flags, don't Trump will win the midterm. But even if that doesn't happen, I would say somewhere around December 1st, if you were to take a poll, the Republicans would pull higher than the Democrats. Because it's incrementally happening. The economy will get better. It's getting better. That's why the stock, these people are not stupid in the stock market. They see that. And the foreign investment is starting to show up. And you look at the big companies of the world. They're all American in every field. And the oil and gas is being pumped like crazy now. And when Alaska and Venezuela come on full, it's going to be crazy. But I don't know if it'll be in time by November 3rd. That's my only hesitation. All right, Dr. Well, we have lots more to talk about. France's

presidential race, which is going to be happening in 2027. Barcelona protests because of immigration issue and Russia bringing Europe into. But we're going to take a break and we're going to listen to you on James Polk and Lyndon Mainsth Johnson first. And then we'll come back for those subjects after that. So stay with us and we'll be right back. Welcome back, Victor Davis Hansen in his own words. You can catch Victor on social media. His has his handle at X is at VD Hansen and on Facebook. His page is Hansen's morning cup. So Victor, I'm excited to hear a little bit about James Polk, who was the Western expansionist and then Lyndon Baines Johnson, who was kind of had the thorn in his side of the Vietnam war. And he didn't run again because of that. So he's an extraordinary

for that reason. But I shall not know. Shall I accept the nomination of I'm going to spend all my time to ensure peace that was 1968. I think in February or March. Then that's when Bobby Kennedy and Jean McCarthy were battling it out. Well, James Polk was our 11th president. He was only one term when he ran for he was a Jacksonian from Tennessee. He'd been the I think is the only present was ever speaker of the house. And he was governor one term of Tennessee. And then he was president. Only man to be president speaker of the house. And he was known as a brilliant politician. And he was 49 years old. He was the youngest president in the history of the United States up to that time that wasn't assassinated. You know, another. So his if you looked at when I was in

high school, Arthur Schlesinger, Jr. was considered the best historian ever. He was this left-wing guy. I don't even think he had a PhD. I don't think he had an academic post, but he was an advisor to the Kennedys. He was on TV everywhere. Every time you wanted to talk about American, we're going to distinguish the story. And they always said, Professor Arthur Schlesinger, or they'd say, Dr. Arthur, even though I'm not sure he had a PhD, I can check. But he was the old liberal. And the old liberal typology, Jackson was great. Andrew Jackson, because he's a populist. He wasn't a rich landowner or he wasn't a New England grandee or an aristocrat. He was for the people. And Van Buren was a Jacksonian, but not really effective. Polk was a very close friend of Jackson. And his wife was very wealthy. Polk's wife. So he wanted to complete the Jacksonian project. And that was a coast to coast America. And during the Louisiana purchase, they had gotten from

France most of the interior. And due to coercion and forced byouts, they had gotten the south, all the way to Florida, parts of the Spanish Empire. And they just needed two Tessera in this mosaic, if we exclude Hawaii and Alaska. One was the border with Canada, Dash, Great Britain, because Canada was an independent. Along the 49, or way up in the 54th parallel, that's where the cruise ships start, way up there. And that would be, you could bring in the Oregon territory, plus what is now Washington to make two states eventually as free. And that would balance the recognition in 1845 that the independent Republic of Texas, which hadn't won its freedom, it just declared it, would become a state. And so he was a Tennessee and he had slaves,

and he had a plantation at Mississippi. But he was a realist, pragmatist. So he said, I'm going to fight with the Yankees to make sure the British don't take Puget shound in the Columbia River. So what they did was they demanded 5440, that was the latitude, that famous 5440 or fight. And that would have mean that when you go up to Sisku or all those names of those stops, I've done it a couple of times. That would have been right at the American border, all the way through Canada. I mean, maybe Alberta will vote that anyway, and maybe someday, but I doubt it. Anyway, but his fallback position was to ensure the 49th parallel. So he cut a deal with the British and said, oh, we want 5440, but yeah, we'll take 49. But then they said, we want Vancouver Island, which they got. And then he went to the Congress and said, I'm sympathetic to

the South, we're not going to take Cuba. They wanted to take Cuba. And we're not going to take all Mexico, because the Mexican War was going to 846 to 48. And they could have taken all Mexico. If you want to see why they should not, you should be Sherman's memoirs. He said, this would be, it would have been a disaster. So anyway, they got what is now New Mexico and parts of Arizona along with Texas. And then there was a fight over which slaves, which states would be slave states. So Texas came in as a slave state and the Northern territories and New Mexico and Arizona would come in as non-slave states eventually. And then there was the Gatson purchase that rounded out. And he, he got California. He had an example. He wanted to get Baja California and they offered 30 million bucks for it. The Mexican said no. But the point that why Sleshinger liked him, the old liberal

Democratic Party of the 60s said, oh, wow, he was a populist. He wanted, he wanted home stedars. He was for the little guy and he was a proud American. Well now they hate him. So if you look at his rankings onto this Sleshinger system when I was in high school, everybody said, can you believe it? US history at Selma high school. It was, it was like a PhD course now at Stanford. They gave us the polls and said, here was an essay question. Arthur Sleshinger has rated James T. Polk as the eleventh grade critique, compare and contrast, can treat that. You couldn't do that in graduate school today. But the point I'm making is that he was considered a hero. And now when you look at it, they've put him way down because he own slaves or he, he didn't insist that Texas be free or state. And then he was always a poor hell. So he said he was only going to run and then he got color and died that almost within months after leaving. I think the left doesn't like him because

he helped to expand that awful imperialist United States to. He was a manifest destiny guy. But the left never says, I hate James Polk. I'm so angry that Starbucks headquarters is in Washington and Washington's got this liberal bastion. And just it's not fair. Portland should have been British. I don't like Portland. Let's give it back. No, they're happy that he took it. And Sarge LBJ, I mean, he was famous for being speaker of the house and he was a masterful legislator. And he won elections in Texas by being very, there were all more Democrats. The general election was usually between two Democrats. And he was a less racist. And Sam Rayburn trained him to be a great legislator. But he was going nowhere. Nobody, he was

ungainly and he was kind of considered a crook. He went into, he was like Pelosi. He went in poor. And he left the Congress only in radio stations. He was a multi-millionaire and a big ranch, you know. So then a really weird thing happened when Kennedy was running. People came and said, the FDR Henry Wallace doesn't work. They had to get a Missouri and Harry Truman. So you're a Southern, you're a Northern liberal. Northern liberals can't win anymore. Unless you balance a ticket or the South's going to bolt. They're going to go complete Dixie crowd again. So you got to get Lyndon Johnson. And the Kennedys hated him. They hated the way looked. They were out. They made fun of him. And so he came in in 65 and there were jokes about him. They said, Mr. President, can you speak? And he said, no, I'm busy. Is Lyndon doing anything?

Is he, can you wake Lyndon up? And then Kennedy was killed. And Lyndon didn't hesitate. He got sworn in on Air Force One, bringing the body back from Texas. And then he just shocked everybody. And the liberals loved him because he said to them, Kennedy couldn't get any of the civil rights legislation because the Southern people, Philip Buster, strong, Thurman, Talmage, all those guys. But they're my friends. I've known them for 40 years. So I'm going to cut deals with them. So what he did from 65, 66, 67, he told all those guys, you want a military base? You want a contract? You want a dam? You want a road? You're going to vote for the civil rights open housing. So he got the whole, and then he didn't stop there. He called it the great society. And it was the welfare status. There was nothing like the all of these alphabet soups that we have rose about started it. It paused. He expanded it. Office of equal opportunity, all of that stuff.

And I think it did a lot of damage. The great society is Tom Soul pointed out. The Black family was intact. And it's earning per capita income was not that far off on whites by night in the 50s. And then when this program came in and said, we're going to give welfare to unattached mothers and we're going to give cradle to grave. And we're going to give affirmative action. It really destroyed initiative according to Tom. I think you made a good argument. And then he destroyed his presidency because he said, when he ran in 64, he had a controversial commercial of a little girl with a little flower. And she's picking off one petal next. And then all of a sudden, right in the background, there's a mushroom. And then it's very gold water. Yeah, it's a mushroom cloud with a total. That was the dirtiest commercial. They only ran at once, I think. But very gold water was a very principled guy. And Johnson wasn't. But it was the one of the

biggest landslides in history. And he was elected on the sympathy to JFK. And he got through all the civil rights. And then he said, I'm not going to go something I'm going to guarantee you. We're not going to send American boys over there to Vietnam to do the fight. And that Asian boys should be doing. They should be doing. And then all of a sudden, he hired the whiz kid, Robert McNamara, you know, the Bundy brothers, Walt Rostow, and they were all from the scientific mode of technocrats. If we drop X amount of tonnage on this within 62 days, we can blast in when the war, if we can put electronic sensors along the whole scene, we have a new pesticide called injured orange. We can do all this crazy stuff. And he just kept, you know, he didn't want to win. He just kept adding and adding. And then meanwhile in 68, poor Humphrey was stuck with him, the vice president. He had balanced the ticket of Minnesota liberal. So Nixon was saying, I have a secret

plan. I have a secret plan. Well, his secret plan was twofold to play China off against Russia. So the Russia wouldn't China would stop supplying Vietnam. And then bombing North Vietnam, but not like Johnson bombing the headquarters of the Communist, which worked for a while. But my point is that by the end, he would say 200,000, I'm going to announce today that we're going to go up to 400,000 American boys in Vietnam. And we're just about ready to hammer that coonscap on the barn wall. We're just about where we're going. I can see the light of the tongue. And it just kept going on and on with no plan to win. And everybody thought today, well, it was an illegal war and was horrible. No, it was envisioned as what Korea did that we freed the Koreans. And we stopped it.

And we're going to do the same thing. And that one day the Korean autocracy will be democratic, just like the Vietnam will be democratic. That was the idea. But it was achieved by 75, but Johnson was long gone. He'd had a heart attack. He was in bad health. Anyway, so he was only president from November of 63 to January of 69. And then the left got what they and before Trump, the greatest boogeyman on the left was Richard Nixon. So I just have one question about that Vietnam since you brought it up. Yes, it's been kind of famous now that the books like to say that there was more TNT dumped on Vietnam than in all of World War II. Yeah. And yet they couldn't close the deal in Vietnam. And that seems more tell. I know that the military felt that it was doing well. I know that it

was thwarted sometimes by the civilian administration. But they said if you read Ted by Dan Olden Dorf or you read a good book, A Better War about Creighton Adroms, you can make the argument by 1972. There were no American ground troops in Vietnam that were actively in combat roles. 72, 73. There was a viable self Vietnamese government. And since 1968, Ted Offensive, they had cleansed the South of Vietnam. And that's why the North, and they had not done what Johnson did with operation, rolling thunder, just going in with B-52s and bombing rice paddies and all. No, they went in under linebacker. Mark Moyer wrote a three volume revisionist history of Vietnam. You can make the argument. It wasn't worth it. It wasn't worth 58,000 dear Americans. But the point is once you were there, they had almost achieved that. So what they did, they had first generation

laser bomb. So they just went down the list and said, he's the vice president of the Communist Party. He is the central committee. He's the head of the part of Burrow. He is the here's seven brigadier generals. Here are all the Soviet advisors and they anti-Muslim and they started hitting them and they were accurate. And before they know, they were wiping out the whole communist apparatus and they wanted to go to Paris and they signed a peace agreement. And then Richard Hickson was impeached and at 17 times they cut off aid to Vietnam, including air support. They wouldn't even let American planes fly off carriers in international waters to bomb a column on highway one of Norfolk. It means coming in to Saigon. They wouldn't even let that happen. So that's what we're up against in this midterm election because it seems to me that we keep finding or seeing that Iran, it's getting bombed to smithereens or at least its facilities are getting bombed.

But it still seems to hang in there and it's not we can't get our foot on its neck. Well, I wrote an article and I said about this anaconda, a new strategy and I outlined it and I said we are squeezing them in a way that no country has ever been squeezed. But they're not. Yes, they are. They're completely broke. But they haven't capitulated. They will. It's just a question of whether they'll capitulate. There's two things that could save them. Whether the people start starving and we let up or it doesn't happen before the midterms and then you get a landslide democratic and they cut off. In the house and yes, in the Senate and like Vietnam, they would cut off funds. Yes, but I don't know if they're going to get a veto-proof Congress. But here's Michael Doron, Doron, is a Middle East analyst and he's in our military history group. It's at who? I'm not being condescending at all, but he is one of the brightest guys I've ever met

is for he's a very supportive Israel. He's not Jewish. He's not involved in Zion anything. He's just empirical. And he wrote a brilliant article today called the third way basically. And basically he said there's the reason this has gone on so long is number one, and Donald Trump does not want to miss adventure. Just like I said, they do not want to go on the ground. They do not want to Afghanistan or Iraq. So he can't go in there. He doesn't want a nation bill. That's out. We've lost 17. We haven't lost 7,000. We've spent probably 60 billion. We haven't spent 3 trillion as we did in Afghanistan. You mean we've lost 1,700? No, we've lost 17 people and around and we spent 50 to 70 billion, but we haven't spent 3 trillion. We're not there for 20 years or 10 years. So then he said, you can't do that. And here's the other thing you can't do.

So everybody says, well, we should hit them hard. I said, she's hit them harder and then squeeze them and go home. And he says they have prepared for 20 years for this. So they have been building missiles and drones and they have placed thousands of them in subterranean and their entire strategy was not really to be able to hurt us, which they couldn't do, but to tell the Gulf states, tell the United States that you you sicked on us that if it keeps up, we're going to hit your desalination plants and your hotels and your airports and your oil refinement. And one missile can do that. So he said the anecdote to that would be to go try to find all those places and blow them up. And he said, you could spend 6 months and couldn't do that. So there's a better third way. And he gives Trump credit. He's no Trump fanboy. He said, what Trump is doing is making

the war. I use the word irrelevant, but what he's doing is sustainable. We are not going to expand all of our ordinance missile going in there and trying to blow up a bunch of stuff. We don't want to starve. We're going to squeeze them. Nobody with a secondary boycott is going to come to their aid. We're going to we got rid of the bridges to China and Russia. We'll close maybe the airport. They can't get stuff in them by land. They can't get it by sea. They're going broke. And we'll just squeeze squeeze squeeze. At some point a couple of things will happen. You said he couldn't guarantee it's going to work, but it's a sustainable that does not use up our arsenal. It does not get Americans killed. And if you can get 9 million barrels out of the straight, the pipeline, the oil will stabilize. And we can go on forever. We have a carrier there anywhere every year. Yeah. And they they expose their missile positions every time they try to fire one. So then you can keep going back out of it. Basically, he said, we'll just see if what

they say is true. When they lose all of their houses overseas, all of their bank accounts, they can't pay the revolutionary guard. They're afraid they can't they haven't sent one missile into Israel. We're not. Netanyahu said today, we are ready. If one missile comes in, we are ready. What he meant is we have the names of all of you people and we're going to kill you all. And we're going so they are they are in a box right now. And if Trump in the next two months, can you get the oil down a little bit? And there's nobody, no kinetic action. I think it's a tolerable. And he really I'm not doing justice to Michael's exegesis about a third way. And he said that it doesn't guarantee success, but it guarantees a lot more success at a lot less cost than either going in on the ground and trying to overthrow the government or just tit for tat forever.

So he's very favorable. Yeah. We've never had sanctions like this before. Yeah. And when JFK blockaded Cuba and he cut off all communications, all entry and exit, they they gave up their missile. I mean, we gave up some in Turkey. We don't talk about it, but that work. Yeah. Yeah. And Scott was on as we said on Fridays, news roundup is really out there doing. You said something that, you know, you said we wanted to destroy the regime. Yeah. Michael Rubin wrote an article and said, you better be careful about destroying the regime because we're saturated with leftist propaganda that says that we're not doing anything. But my sources tell me that they're starving and they have no gas and they have no heat. So be careful because we don't know when they reach that point, whether they're just going to die or they're going to go out and fight and be shot. And they asked Trump today, are you army in the Iranians? He said, I'm not stupid. I'm not going to tell you that. Yeah. Yeah.

All right, Victor, let's go ahead and take our last break and then come back and talk a little bit about international news. Stay with us and we'll be right back. Every state is home to significant historic sites that tell the American story. But not every site is telling that story honestly and fairly. That's why the Heritage Foundation created the Heritage Guide to Historic Sites. This interactive guide equips American citizens with the tools they need to enjoy the sites that depict some of the greatest moments in our nation's history, analyzing them for historical accuracy, and provides resources for families or educators planning a visit from Mount Vernon to independent hall to Gettysburg and more. Americans deserve transparency and sites that steward our history faithfully deserve our gratitude. The Heritage Guide to Historic Sites invites every American to rediscover the places and stories that define our nation, whether it's across the country or in your backyard. Welcome back. Victor Davis Hansen in his own words were a subsidy area of the daily signal. You should go to the daily signal to find other conservative content and Victor does four shorts every week for the daily signal that are on independent topics and they're about eight to nine minutes long. So daily signal has that. Victor, so I wanted to talk first about Russia and some of the news that might suggest that Europe and or NATO might get pulled into this. There was a Polish drone factory that was burned up and they suspect the Russians might have done it and there was an Italian ammo factory that exploded as well. And again, the suspicion is that Russia is in on that. And then the last bit of news and I don't know how you're going to put these together is John Ratcliffe our CIA director went over to Russia for about four hours. I think he stayed there

and then came back and there's no news about what he was up to. He wasn't. So he talked to his counterpart. So we know what he said and it's leaked out what he said, but we know if he didn't like we know what he said. Russia has been mentioning more that if they lose more we they've lost half their gasoline refinery production and a lot of their oil production. And Putin said this is we might have to use nuclear weapons. So Ratcliffe went over there and said we know what the media says about Trump's puppet and all that stuff. Putin, he's Putin's puppet. He's not. If you attack a NATO country we will respond in kind, whatever your kind is. If you send a nuclear missile into the Netherlands, we'll send one in to you. If you invade a NATO country, we will arm it to the teeth and conduct operations against you inside Russia. We're not going to be provocative. We're not

going to start it, but we're not going to sell out. And then he reminded him. We've been reading a lot about what people surmise he said. We're not talking about Western Europe. You're being provoked. You're provoking people in Poland and the Czech Republic and the Baltic States. These are the most pro-American of all the NATO members. These are the best armed. The Swedes, the Fin, they fight like crazy. These are the people we're especially going to protect on the frontline. We don't have a problem with them politically. Not that that would matter anyway. We will protect France. We will protect Belgium. We UK. We will protect Spain, even though they hate us. But we will specifically protect our allies and friends in Eastern Europe. That's what he told him. And I think it worked. Because Putin just said, I don't want to meet with him. I think that meant he's not going to off from East. He's not going to win. He's not going to work with this guy. I've been on zooms with John Ratcliffe. He's a very

smart guy. He's a very good person. All right. Let's turn to Spain and fall out from the Sayyudah invasion of Moroccans. It was Sayyudah day in Spain just, I guess, two days ago. And there were protesters by the tens of thousands out on the street against their... Hundreds of thousands, I think. Yeah. Well, total probably hundreds of thousands. They think 50,000 alone in Madrid. But there were other large cities that had protests as well. So they were protesting against their prime minister Pedro Sanchez. Because obviously he does not have a great policy for immigration. And against the immigrants themselves. So they want some sort of rational border policy in Spain. And so this is a big disruption. Sanchez, though, just last thing. He has said that the Russians and the Israelis are feeding disinformation about these

protests and media. Well, his problem is that he has about a 25% approval rating. He is corrupt, financially corrupt. He knows they have a... That the next... That he will schedule election at the last possible moment legally required. And he will lose. And he is a socialist anti-Western. He hates the United States. He hates Israel. And yet he's tasked with preserving colonial outposts, two or three... A couple of islands off the coast of Morocco. I think two cities. Right? So he's a hypocrite. So the Moroccans know that. So the Moroccans keep pressuring him. And so he... Everybody knows Morocco's stages. They have pictures of the Moroccan police helping people

over the fence. They have testimonies where they were Moroccan army facilitated and organized at social media. But he doesn't want to say that. So what he said is lying. Morocco had nothing to do with it. It was the Zionist. The Zionist did it. The Jews did it. And people know that he's a pathological leader. Now they're calling him a traitor. That he doesn't stick up. So he's going to go just a question of how much damage. He's almost destroyed the Spanish-American relationship. Because everybody is sick of Spain. They stick their... They wouldn't let us use a base. They wouldn't let us use their airspace. They don't... They won't go up to 5%. I don't even know if they got to 2% yet. And all they do, all this guy does is attack the United States. And he's representative of a whole bankrupt because they're all corrupt. Left-wing aristocracy and then are running these countries. My

crown. You saw stormer or those guys, merts in Germany and they're all in the way out. And the only thing that's keeping them power, the so-called liberal progressive Europeans are passing the most anti-free speech laws and barring political parties. Because they know that... And the more they do that, the more that these resistance parties. If you had an election throughout Europe, the... I don't know why I'm sure you call them conservative, the reactionary party. The other thing people don't realize... And culture made a point. She has a lot of good points. I know people find her in Cindiore, but she's quite smart. And we once had the same... I don't know if she remembers. We once had the same age and I had lunch with her in New York years ago. And I did her podcast two years ago. Not very well. I had the flu that day. I thought it was a flu. In any case, she said, well, don't look at Europe before you criticize Europe. We're only 55%

white now and 45%. I don't think that's right. I think it's more like 68. And who knows anyway within her marriage? But she doesn't understand one point with all deference to her. The United States has a long history given the African-American population of 10 to 12% and the fact that we annex much of Mexico, northern Mexico. And we have now a 12... We've always had a strong Mexican population. We've always had Chinese and Japanese immigrants. So my point is that for all the sins of America, we had a melting pot. Europe didn't. It's class-ridden. It has titles and people. And they thought they can't handle 16%. We can. We can assimilate them. They can't. And so that's the thing. They're getting up to 16% in Germany. They're getting up to, I think, 8%, 9% written, 10% Belgium at 16. These are people from mostly the Middle East and Africa.

Very poor, non-Western. They want to assimilate. And they're violent. And Islam, radical Islam is like socialist. They mimic. You know what I mean? They say they're not radical. But then you look at a... There was a tape from a Dearborn Mosquito day where the guys had kill Americans and killed Jews. And the same thing is happening all over Europe. They want to... They think that they can out birth Europeans. And they still talk about the recon... Before the recon, Easter, they controlled Spain, the battle of Portiers where they almost got into northern France, etc. All right, Victor. So you would kind of address France. I was going to note that Marie Le Pen is the lead in the presidential... They did. They kept her out of that race forever. And now she's the lead in a multi-party system, of course. So she's got 35% or somewhere between

30 and 35%. And you also, I was going to ask you, why the United States we had 10 to 12 million in four years. In Spain, it is 80,000 in a few days, I would estimate. And look at the protests in Spain. But you kind of answered that. There was not really any protest here. Was there no, we didn't protest like that. That was because the left had basically said, anybody who protests 10,000 illegals a day. I wrote a letter. I wrote a column in 2023. And I said, this is going to destroy the United States because you're letting in 10,000 a day. And it has ramifications. You're telling the people in the military that were kicked out, because they didn't get the vaccinations. These people don't have any vaccinations. And that's going to get people very angry. You're letting in 500,000 criminals. And you're siding in all

dissent by calling your racist. And it's not sustainable. I don't think we'll ever deport all to it. I don't think you can find them. I really don't. No, even if you do the numbers, they had they were celebrating this last month, August that ice. And this is a huge number. They deported 51,000 last month. And that's, you know, even if you do the numbers, there's no worry because I never really studied. I didn't even know what TikTok was. Are really YouTube that much. But I've been going and Instagram. So I've been people sending stuff. So now I've started going, I'm interested in seeing what are the main, what are people interested in? And I would tell you that 30% of what I see is racially incendiary. And that's, and it's usually, maybe unfair, but it's post-George Floyd, Black women

getting an arguments with police when they're pulled over and then getting in hostile environments, or mass-looting Black people, or shootings. And then there's commentary. And I check some of the FBI figures. So 2.5% of the population are Black males under 30. They account for 50% of murders and about 45% of other aggravated violent crime. There were 4, 5,000 Black women killed last year through murder, tragically. Not one was killed by a white person. So the ace symmetry. So almost every day that you see something in the news, like Irene Zeratuska, or you see this. Irene Zeratuska, yes. Or you see the bank executive that was butchered in New York, or you see the woman that was set on

fire in Chicago, or whatever you see, it is not as the left tells us white racism, white supremacy, white violence, white rage. It's just the opposite. The so-called white community to the extent somebody is really white and not intermarried is the target disproportionately being the majority population. You think that they would create the majority of crimes, but they don't. And that is saturating now all of social media. And I'm not talking about right wing supremac. I'm talking about middle class and left wing people, left wing people. And so because people forget that almost all of this is happening in cities. And the more liberal the city, the more empowered the criminal is. So you're talking about Washington DC, Detroit, LA, San Francisco, Portland, Seattle, Minneapolis. And who lives there? Left wing people. And they are left wing so-called coastal elites.

And they are being disproportionately attacked by people of color. And people who are remarking on it now now those people. So I think what I'm getting out, this is another aspect of the failure of the progressive project, like the DSA failure. And it's, they can say all they want that they're ascended, but they are doing things with an open border and crime, not enforcing crime, not attorney, defund the police that are empowering somebody. So when you have social media that I have discovered that people watch every day, they don't read the New York Times, they don't read the LA Times, they go into TikTok or YouTube. And what you're seeing there and the black community is very worried about it. I've seen a lot of pushback and they're saying this is so unfair that you know that more, most blacks don't do this and it's true. But what you're seeing is the

results of George Floyd where people think they're in power, there's no deterrence. And it enrages people. And you, I'm just looking at the comments. These, these tubes, they don't have five comments. They have a thousand, 99% of them are critical of what's going on. And I would say 20% are overtly racist, you know, and they use terminology. I can't repeat. So I don't think the liberal project realizes that they can say only one about Donald Trump, but that open border and the post George Floyd reverse racism and all of that violence. That's created a sense that we can do whatever we want. And we're going to do this and this. And we saw that the, you know, the X-Marine who stopped that on the subway, how he became an instant hero. Daniel Penny. Daniel Penny. And they just saw how Alvin Bragg went out to destroy him. And it's, you know,

it's, there were racial elements not from Donald Trump, but the Tita James basically ran a campaign to get Donald Trump. We know from whistleblower now. And he didn't know what to do. Give me the hymn and I'll go out. That was Fanny Willis had racial overtones. And you can make this argument that Alvin Bragg did too. And Louis and Mayor Johnson. And so it's time for everybody to take a deep breath. But the democratic socialists don't understand and the democratic party. They pushed all this. And they pushed all this confrontation when Maxine Waters said, get in their face or Professor Kindi said the only way you can stop racism is be a racist or not to, he's, he quotes, you know, he started all of this stuff about white people, this, this, this. And then Mark Milley, you know, we're going to look at it and people are sick of it. It won't work in a

multiracial society. And the point is Europe has no experience. Even without, we have experienced dealing with it because we're multiracial. They don't want until Merkel opened the borders. And they are going, there's a whole netter genre on social media that I've discovered at Europeans. And it's always the same. There's a picture of a guy and a girl from walking in Milan, walking in Brussels, walking in London and somebody from Somalia, somebody from Chad, someone from Jordan, you name it. They start screaming at the girl or a pincher. And then the the guy starts fighting out of nowhere, 10 or 15 people get up and start kicking that guy. And these are non-immigrant, indigenous people. The perpetrator, yeah. So they start, yes, it's like a vigilante. And I, if I was on the left, I would say, what the United States is waiting for is a Martin with

their king and his earlier manifestations, not the end when he was sort of pandering to the hard left. But some leader who said, forget whitey, just forget him. We have the highest GDP. Black Americans, 40 million are the most wealthiest, predominantly black nation in the world if you would look at that way. We have a huge multi-billion dollar economy. And we're going to go back to self-help. And we're going to have academies. And we're going to have higher test scores and Asians and whites. We're going to have discipline. And the guy at Tuskegee's making everybody wear uniform. And we're going to, we want tough sentences on felons. We don't care if you fill a prism. We're not going to allow this to happen. And we're not going to give up all these great things that are civil rights leaders have achieved. And that's the only way it's going to stop. But the world is waiting for somebody to do that. And nobody's stepping up. And said, you've got Michelle Obama every time she opens her mouth. Oh, I was so stressed in the White House. And people

were so racist and white this and white that. And you know, you got people like Jasmine Crockett, she couldn't finish the sentence without saying white. And it's not working. It's not working. They all need to get down, take a deep breath and read a book by Shelby Steele and Tom Sol and just follow their guidance. All right, Victor. We are at the end of the show and we have one happy birthday card for you. I'm holding it up for people who are at doing audio. I know it's beautiful. It's red, white and blue. It kind of looks like it might be a stage. It has your initials in it. And it's got a beautiful eagle on it in gold. So beautiful card. And it says, dear Victor, happy birthday to my favorite great American. Thank you for sharing your unique knowledge perspective and wisdom. I'm looking forward to reading your latest book in a few days. Please live long and enjoy each day. Finally, Catherine, Kathy W. Thank you, Kathy. I appreciate that.

And you're doing that over Zoom right now. Zoom. And I think it's on if you go to Hillsdale.org or whatever it is, you can find it. That's my album. I'm going to spend my birthday. You're birthday.
