President Barack Obama.
Virginia, we are counting on you.
Republicans want to steal enough seats in Congress to raid the next election
and wield unchecked power for two more years.
But you can stop them by voting yes by April 21st.
Help put our elections back on a level playing field and let voters decide not politicians.
Vote yes by April 21st.
Paid for by Virginians for fair elections.
I quite like this from Ashley and Steve.
Ashley, any chance they could change the date of this NFL game.
It's our wedding anniversary and the bride is not going to give me a leave pass.
Ashley from Yarigland.
Even in the morning, Ashley, it might work.
And Steve, any chance you can get someone on the radio to talk about the ticket prices
for the Melbourne NFL game.
I'm glad you asked.
Steve, let's find out all there is to learn about it.
The Premier of Victoria is just into Alan.
Premier, welcome back to the program.
Great to be with you again, Jared.
When is the NFL coming to town?
The NFL is coming to Melbourne coming to the MCG at 1035 on Friday the 11th of September.
This year, the Rams and the San Francisco 49ers are going to face off in an Australian first.
It's huge for our city.
An Australian first regular season game here at the MCG.
Behind of any sort of football Jared, really.
And of course, it means that Melbourne is being deemed back into the US in prime time.
So this is a huge win for Melbourne, a huge win for our state.
And another feather in our cap as the major events capital.
What I think I most like about this is it'll be a Friday morning, a regular work day,
not in school holidays.
And there's going to be 100,000 of us at the MCG.
We couldn't get any more Melbourne than that.
Could we?
Well, it's going to be really special because of those reasons.
It's a morning game.
And so if you think about all the preparation and the activation that goes into getting ready,
as a fan, as a spectator, for going to the big events,
you're going to be doing that very early in the morning.
I think it's just going to add to the atmosphere and the excitement.
And Jared, we know we've had already a massive amount of interest in terms of pre-registration.
More than 140,000 people have already said they want to come to the game.
So we know that tickets are going to go like hotcakes.
When the pre-sale goes on that sale next Tuesday, the 31st of March,
we know tickets are going to absolutely fly.
And again, not only is that great for us as the sporting capital.
This is huge for our hospitality industry.
Huge for our tourism industry.
Great people work in this industry.
And it's going to give them a massive lift.
In the middle of the AFL 40 final.
I know. So there's two follow-ups there.
So the first is, are we endorsing low productivity that day?
And my son wants to know, are you endorsing his day off school?
I will never interfere.
I will make sure parent child negotiations are done in the home.
I have to do a bit of that myself.
But look, it is a special event.
And I think you can always allow for a bit of flexibility
when you have big special events.
Because it is history-making, Jared.
And if you sit in that broader picture,
we're the only place on the planet that will have a tennis grand slam,
a Formula One Grand Prix, and now a regular season NFL game.
That's only happened in Melbourne.
So I reckon we can all take some time to enjoy that history-making moment.
I'm taking that as a yes.
And what are the contingencies if there are two semi-finals
slated for Melbourne for the AFL?
Are you involved in the negotiations on that front?
Yeah, look, we've been taking a really strong team Victoria approach here.
The government, the AFL, the MCG, and the NFL.
We've all been working really tightly together.
Because we recognize we've got an incredible opportunity.
Can you imagine, Jared, in one week, we're going to have the bookends of each week
will be the AFL finals.
And in the middle of that, we've got an NFL game.
Oh, that's a huge opportunity for both sports in addition to a massive outcome for our city.
So everyone's been working together really strongly with the view of making this work,
making this work for the fans, the spectators for our city.
And we can do this, and we will do this in that second week in September.
There are parents breaking out and cold sweats the way they did for Taylor Swift tickets
with the prospect here.
So just give us a picture of ticket sales and have you seen price points yet?
And when will we see those?
So tickets are pre-sale tickets go online and anyone wanting to check out information on this.
It's through the NFL's website.
Pre-sale tickets from next Tuesday from 9 a.m. they go live.
General public tickets are available from the 8th of April.
The pricing points, they're starting at $95 a ticket and $140 for general admission.
And I do appreciate they will ever said before they're going to go like shock cakes.
And so we're getting this information out now so people can be ready to go to get their tickets from next week.
It is a major event and we know the prices are associated with that.
And what you have seen are you satisfied that it is manageable for the rank and file for the mum and dads and their kids?
We're really conscious at this time.
Pricing points is really important because this is a special event that we want as many fans as many families to get the opportunity to be part of.
Because when I go and visit schools and I visit a lot of schools around Victoria, kids will tell me about their AFL team.
They'll tell me about their NBA team and they'll tell me about their NFL team.
So it really is a sport that is embedded in the sporting culture of this city and the state.
So we do want to make sure it's accessible, which is why Jared, I've been chairing an organising committee.
We've had a committee together with a whole bunch of not just sporting representatives but representatives from the city, from hospitality, from events.
Because we are not only going to have a cracking game at the G, we're going to have a festival around this event as well.
So there will be plenty of opportunities for fans to get involved in what's going to be a special event.
Will the festival resemble what we have around the grand final, what picture of it do we have?
Because of that point you made before, this is happening very early in the morning.
So we will work in with that time of day and it's also going to have to have an NFL flavour.
When we don't necessarily want to repeat what we do for the AFL, that's our game.
That's our how we promote and how we activate the AFL events.
So we'll be working with the NFL.
They've got some really strong ideas how to bring that NFL festivisation.
They call it Jared around the game to the MCG and for fans because we know there will be people who want to have gone to the game and maybe have missed out on a ticket.
We want to make sure there's plenty of other opportunities, plenty of other touch points if you like.
So people are getting involved in the atmosphere of the game and you mentioned Taylor Swift before.
I don't know if you remember that there was a Taylor Swift concert on the inside of the G and there were thousands of fans outside of the G as well.
So we'll make sure that there's opportunities for everyone to get involved.
Is there a collective determination to have 100,000 at this game?
So it's slightly more difficult because not every seat right down the bottom can be used on islands.
Do we want the boast? Do we want the brag of 100,000 at the game?
Well, let's remember why it's being held in Melbourne at the G in the first place.
The MCG is where the NFL wanted to bring their game to Australia because it's the best stadium.
It's the best stadium in the country and one of the best in the world and it's iconic for all the reasons we know and love.
So we've already got that boast in our kit bag.
What we also know that we'll have no problem selling tickets.
So whatever the crowd capacity will be, I'm confident that we will meet that number and then there'll be huge opportunities outside of the venue and around the venue for people to get involved.
Premier, thank you. Good luck with everything with the ticket sales.
It's good luck to all of us with the ticket sales. Thanks for sharing it with us.
Thanks for your time, Jared.
The Premier of Victoria just sent to Alan. So standing room tickets from $95 general access from $140.
They're not further details that I can see on the ticket master site at the moment.
There's the map of the MCG butts.
We will wait to see more ahead of next weeks.
Access for those who have subscribed and then general admission the following week.
The NFL tickets to go on sale next week.
