- Junk Journal Tips & Updates from Pam at The Paper Outpost!
Hey, everybody. This is Pam at the Paper Outpost. I am picking out some signature pages to put into my new junk journal, which this is the cover.
It is the base of it is done, I would say. And I'm going to do some few extra things to it. But at this point, I'm just going to go ahead and play with the signature pages for a bit. So here we go. I've just pulled out the stack of what I have right now.
Orange, orange, a little bit of orange, maybe.
This was some old eco printing that I did from Leaves and Plants, just a few extra pages I had hanging around.
Some pretty altered scrapbook paper. So I'm just goofing around paper on some book pages. Here's some, this looks like leather paper that I made.
It's out of a paper bag and a faux leather.
And what's this? This is just something that got stuck together. So we won't worry about that. Here's a driver's daily log. Hey, who doesn't need one of those?
Those always these interesting unusual things that you come across in the thrift store or maybe you have at home and never thought about using for a junk journal.
You can use some interesting things in junk journal world. Here's some pictures of stamps that I scanned at one point.
Okay, so I thought I might have some fun with these papers. I thought I'd do a little bit of stenciling.
Just add a little pizzazz. These are some coffee dyed notebook pages. Let's try this. Do this with the, um, let me get some inks out here.
See what we got. What's see what we got rolling? There's brown, black, oh, this lilac shade is kind of pretty. I've been working with that lately lately. Let's see, I have my dobers here.
And let's see what this would be good. This little, where's my little broken brush? A little broken brush of many colors. It has a lot of brown in it, but I'm going to, oh boy, I'm going to put this in this pretty color. See how bad that is on the corner.
Not bad. It's picking up the lilac shade, not turning that to brown. Let's see what we get. All right, let's just do it. Let's just do it and see what happens.
I think I'm getting some brown overlay and you don't have to do the whole thing or you can totally up to you. Um,
and you can also wet these to get a little bit more ink off if you want, which maybe I will try. I'm getting quite a bit, but this might actually transfer the brown, not probably bad idea.
Everything's going well now. Let me muck it up before your eyes. Okay, still not bad, not bad, not bad. All right, go with that.
And
Okay, let's see. We're getting some pretty vapor. I like that a lot. It's kind of brownie purple, like brownie lavender. Really pretty. Well, love it. Love it. Love it. Love it. All right, let's put this down again. And let's maybe
Why are you open? Oh, that's one I was using. Let me try.
Some other colors here.
I've got this fossilized amber. I don't know how to create a mess. Let's try that.
Zootopia 2 has come home to Disney Plus. Let's go. Get ready for a new case for the greatest partners of all time.
New friends.
And your last name?
Dream team. New habitats. Zootopia has a secret reptile population. You can watch the record breaking phenomenon at home. Zootopia 2 now available on Disney Plus rated PG.
Right now you can get Disney Plus in Hulu for just $499 a month for three months with a special limit to time off or ends March 24th. After three months playing auto renews at $1299 a month terms apply.
This one seems to have a lighter color on it. I don't know why or what's going on here, but let's just see. This is probably pretty dope. Pick it up pretty good.
You know, sometimes it's just like, oh, wow, look at the color coming off of that. Boy, that's pretty good. What color was that?
Fossilized amber in distress oxide. I would say the oxides probably work a little better with this technique. This is a paddle brush.
A densely packed bristle brush.
And you can get these. I bought my original ones at TJ Maxx in the makeup center. You can also get them in the craft stores or online at lots of places.
It's really pretty too. Look at how gosh darn pretty that is. That's just gosh darn pretty. I know. I know. Okay. It's a different stencil.
Got a bunch here. Should we pull out our old friend? Our old friend branches. Sure. Why not? Here's good old brown.
Well, not staying oxide. That ought to give us a nice rich brown. Just see how it goes.
I got to hold it down a little bit. It wants to meander a little bit. You can tape these down with washi tape. Not a bad idea, but you can also just do it holding your hand holding your hands holding your papers down with your hands holding your stencils down on your papers with your hands. There we go.
And this is like a real sloppy messy, but very fun. And I think very effective method of stenciling a little something over here.
So very pretty.
Stencil on coffee die.
Let's try this pretty leaves and birdies and things like that. They'll do a little bit of black, a little bit of brown.
They're fun. These stencils that don't have too much pick up like the edges don't curl up too much. They work really well into the brown now. The black was black so that's a regular stressing.
I don't know. Did that improve my point? It still worked relatively well. So I can't complain unless it was just residue on the on this and I was just going to do them like that.
And there were some pinks that I wanted to do.
Yeah, here's a good pick. Oh, wait, I want to put pink in here. Do I have a pink?
I had one dedicated with pink. Is this it? Could have been. This pink is big. Oh, that looks really brown now. Okay. Well, we'll just see what we got. This is distressing.
Okay, it's flamingo. It is not a it is not an oxide. I've got some roses here.
There we go. Okay.
It's working well. It lots of color. It's kind of a brownie pink because I probably have some brown on here.
It's okay though. It's getting more pink. More intense pink as the brown wears off and more pink is layered on.
That one on an angle. Let's change it a little bit.
Yeah, there we go. So you can put them anywhere you want. They don't have to be obligatory anywhere.
Okay. Just to flower up in the corner here. Okay. There we go.
And that's another thing you can do. You can do something like this. You can just do flower in corner, flower in corner.
I am going to have to trim these. So I have to take that into account. So I think I'm going to have to trim them. Not sure.
And you can also do it if you have a coffee college rule paper.
The blue lines let go here and gave this pretty pink color. So I'm just rolling with it.
I'm going to just put this in the middle.
So black, black.
Okay. Okay. Look at these lids here.
Oh, I don't know. Oh, yellow. One yellow here.
Oh, that's really yellow. Oh, yeah. Okay. We'll do the yellow there. Then we will switch to the pink.
You weren't expecting that, were you? No. Me neither. Try something different.
This is again, the kitchen flamingo.
All right.
Sometimes it's nice to use these pages in the center of your books.
If you want to have some extra pretty, kind of a pretty design.
Very fun to do. Very easy to do. Very effective. Okay. Maybe I've got some rubber stamps.
Do some rubber stamping. Some brown.
All right.
It's random.
Nice to do to decorate a few pages up.
If I do it random, then it really doesn't matter where I trim it.
Okay.
One of those.
Pencil over here.
These.
We will do this one in the pink.
Okay.
All right. There we go.
And then maybe that they have this other purple. It's called wilted violet.
I'll just use this one.
That's an Etsy somewhere. I'm sorry. I can't remember the name of the seller, but they are on little tree-bred slices, which I think is so creative and so cool.
All right. There we go.
So just fun things that you can do.
And also do the same thing with words. Let's get a nice word.
How about.
I can get it out. I will bring it over.
Okay. Here's an easy word to get out. So we'll get this one.
It.
Believe.
Believe.
It's a good word.
That looks like a black, but maybe it's the brown.
Oh, no, I think it's a black.
Don't that means.
I miss labeled these. No, that says black set.
Does that say.
I can't read it. Where did I see the name here?
Like sit above the barcode, which is gone.
Well, what can I tell you folks?
Maybe it's.
Walnut stain, which is the thing it came from.
Okay.
That's kind of cool.
And maybe something different.
Maybe one of these round ones is a kind of cool rubber stamp.
The mandala kind of design on it.
All right.
Broken China.
That's ink.
That one very effective.
Is there anything in there? Hello.
All right. Let's give it a squirt.
Just water here.
Just water in the bottle.
Oh, you actually can't be empty.
This allows you to stay out maybe.
All right. Well, it's okay.
We'll just go with a faded design.
As if it's washed out a bit, which is kind of cool for almost looks like an old Asian design.
Mm-hmm.
Old Asian wallpaper or something like that.
Okay. That's what we're calling it.
I don't know why it's not stamping very well.
Okay. Well, that's all we got with that one.
We'll take it though.
Consider it a good day.
Yes.
All right. Let's see how else we can play with these.
This is a pretty stamp.
This is a beautiful butterfly.
Maybe we'll go with the shaded lilac butterfly.
Maybe I'm going to do these this way oriented because the pages will fold in half.
So I'm trying to think ahead.
Oh, that cannot be nice.
Something about that.
That pretty.
Super pretty oxide.
Just dress oxide.
Okay.
Upside down.
Okay.
Yeah.
Very pretty.
Just having some fun here.
I've got this really cool edging foliage edging stuff.
Let's try that.
Okay.
Do it with black, I think.
Might be fun.
All right. That looks good in juicy.
Mm-hmm.
Down the sides.
They'll do a border design.
Ooh, that's really pretty.
I like that a lot.
See, it's just fun to kind of rediscover your old stamps.
You forgot you had them or you forget to use them.
You can get some really pretty pages going here.
Yeah, I like that a lot.
Okay.
We're going to do that.
But we're going to go across the bottom this time.
Right.
President Barack Obama.
Virginia, we are counting on you.
Republicans want to steal enough seats in Congress to raid the next election
and wield unchecked power for two more years.
But you can stop them by voting yes by April 21st.
Help put our elections back on a level playing field
and let voters decide not politicians.
Vote yes by April 21st.
Paid for by Virginians for fair elections.
Pick.
Three.
Kind of cool.
Let's get it all over the fingers.
Of course.
There we go.
Very pretty.
Nice stuff.
Yep.
Yep, liking this a lot.
Okay, so.
Okay, here's some kitsch flamingo.
Regular distress ink in this stamp.
And then just going to.
Damn, some of these flowers on this page.
I think we're going to have a little fun with this design.
Just going to add a little something to it just for fun.
So let's see if I can find a nice green anything.
I'll take a green anything.
Hold on.
Okay.
I fared it out some.
Gel markers in green.
I don't know if these are going to write because.
Gel markers only have a short lifespan.
That's not bad.
That looks like a regular pen to me.
There's nothing green about that.
Just put that in the regular pen section.
Well, that's just not what we were looking for.
Okay, let's try this one.
This.
This is a jelly roll moonlight.
Oh, six.
All right.
Oh, we got some green.
I think that's going to work perfectly.
Okay, so we're just going to make.
Clusters.
So these tend to come in threes anyway.
So.
All right.
There.
Phew.
Phew.
Okay.
And just connecting them all together.
Is if they're growing out of little stocks.
Well, if you can see this, it looks kind of cool on the paper.
All right.
There.
There.
There.
There.
There.
Okay.
And then here.
Very light, easy, breezy thing.
Anybody can do.
Touch them.
Goes behind.
That's okay.
There you.
That you.
Here.
Okay.
Very.
It goes kind of.
This is an interesting green.
I don't know exactly what it's doing.
But if there it is on there.
You see it?
It's there.
So that looks kind of cool.
Kind of a background thing.
Just something fun.
A little different you can do.
All right.
Let's see what else we can do.
Okay.
Here's a big background.
And maybe I'm going to put one at stain on that.
Because that might look kind of cool.
I have no idea what this is going to come out like.
But I have an idea for it.
So let's see.
Just fun different ways you can decorate paper for your signatures.
As you can see, I'm not being super careful.
I'm not being neat.
I'm over inking on the back pages behind it.
And I am doing my best to give this some coverage.
Okay.
That's pretty cool.
And now I thought it'd be fun.
Oh, you're going to love this.
I'm going to pull out the stickers.
Yeah.
I'm going to pull out this copper color.
And this is a new Vodrops crystal new Vodrops in copper penny.
And I think I'm just going to put some random down up maneuvers here.
I don't have to be anything that is official or matching.
And this will have to be put aside to dry since I'm mass making these.
Which apparently this turned into a mass making signature page video.
Just out of the blue.
That's how it happens around here.
You just never know what we're doing.
But I just thought I tossed some fun thoughts at you.
And see how you catch them.
See what you think.
If you're wondering what you should do.
What kind of things you should put in your junk journal.
Maybe you can start with some simple basic ideas about what kind of journal pages
or the base of your pages for your signature.
These can be every page.
They can be every other page, every fifth page.
Just pages in the middle of your signatures.
It's probably up to you to decide how you want to use these.
So these are just un-little playful ideas.
Yes, now Promo is going to put this aside so it dries.
And that looks just kind of pretty.
It's just something different, unexpected.
It's just pretty.
I don't know, it's just pretty.
Okay, we'll put you over there in the drying pretty pile.
See if I have another one like that.
That was sort of fun.
Okay, so I have something smaller.
This is a stamp that has this on it.
Now I will do this in black.
Random.
Oh, that came out nicely.
Rotating.
Angle.
Okay.
Okay, maybe this way.
Okay.
There.
How about that?
And now I will grab this lavender color, which is called liquid mercury.
No, I guess it's probably gray.
For some reason I'm seeing lavender, but that happens with my eyeballs.
I don't know.
Okay, so I'm going to do the down-up maneuver.
And maybe I'm not going to do it on the flowers, because there's already a little
pollen, anything.
I'm just going to add extra dots, random around these, just to give a little extra
va-vom and ho-ha and he-ho.
Okay, down up, down up, down up, down up.
Is a good technique just sprinkling these as if it's extra.
pollen in amongst these pretty little flowers.
Maybe I'll come in with another color too and jazz it up a little bit.
This is just fun with paper.
This doesn't have to be for signatures.
This could be you're making at home wrapping paper.
Whatever you like.
It's just fun.
It's all good.
And down here, make this the last area.
So a little elbow doesn't go through it.
And we're going to use another color.
So elbow can go through that beautifully as I know it will.
Okay, you all know it will fill that in a little bit.
Fill in little naked areas with the extra drops.
Alright, let's pick a more pizzazzi color.
Alright, I'm about...
Well, this is more of a...
It's called taffy.
This is actual liquid pearls.
Same technique.
Let's hope this flows.
Get your sleeve out of the way.
Okay.
Okay, can you see?
Yep.
This shows up a little bit more.
So this will be...
Now it's getting clogged.
Are you getting clogged on me?
Mine are old, so...
Just have to use little needle to open them back up.
Of which I am now in search of here.
I've got a safety pin looking at me.
And I'm looking back.
Here we go.
And opening up the schnazzle.
A little more.
Okay.
Try that.
And oh yeah, there we go.
Okay, now I'm barely looking.
I'm just randomly doing this.
Doobie doo.
Doobie doo.
Okay, can't, can't, can't, home.
Why can't you have on YouTube somebody else?
Because of copyright songs.
So copyright music, so it's like a thing, I guess.
It's never, never been an issue with my great singing.
Because apparently nobody can recognize anything when I hum it.
Not even you do.
So but we will shy away.
Doobie doo.
And then we will let this dry.
Oh, that's just pretty.
Can you, can you fully appreciate it?
Let me bring it a little closer.
I don't think I pick up the colors in there, but it's really pretty.
I mean, this is just random fun with paper.
I did, I had some more stamps out what I do with them.
Not this one.
Not that one.
I'll hear the heart.
The heart, little.
Let's get the kids flamingo.
Make some pink hearts on this page.
See what trouble we can cause with that.
Okay.
Oh, that was good.
Sorry.
Sorry.
Let's put some random ones here.
Some are lighter, some are darker.
Turn different ways.
Some are all the way upside down.
Don't forget, you can turn your stamps upside down.
Mm-hmm.
And this you can write over.
So if somebody wants to journal on these pages, no problemo.
Journal away.
Have at it.
You can write right over this.
All right.
So maybe now we're going to use some real stickers.
Like, I mean, like.
Okay, let's use this one.
This one.
I got a lot of.
Okay.
This is stickers.
Equals glitter glue.
Stickles.
In.
Sorbet.
Okay.
There we go.
Let's see.
If this little Shana Zola is open.
Maybe it is.
Maybe you're just going to do some.
Can you see?
Dots down the sides of the hearts.
Okay.
It's accenting a little edge of the heart.
You too.
Nope.
Don't do it, Pam.
Yep.
Okay.
You too, but if you hear anybody singing or humming, it's sunny in the background.
And he cannot be controlled.
He's just a little puppy.
And he didn't mean it.
Sometimes he forgets himself.
Okay.
Oh, this is cool.
See?
And sometimes just bordering.
The design is enough to give it a little extra-bling pizzazz.
And you are often running in the grandeur of it all.
I want you to feel the grandeur of it all.
Here we go.
Okay.
Boop.
Okay, to get him out now.
Boop.
Boop.
Boop.
It's all of them.
Kind of cool, huh?
I mean, I know it looks very light and faint, but that's the whole idea.
So that the people can still have paper to write on and do whatever fun things.
And we can still decorate these.
I'm going to put that there at a separate spot.
And now I think it is time for Mr. Snuffle Pants' debut.
Where are you?
I'm on the couch.
Okay.
I heard what you said about the singing.
And suddenly, suddenly, I feel like breaking into song.
Mom, I don't know if I can contain myself.
Well, if the video gets banned,
we're going to learn how to contain ourselves.
Okay.
Okay, everybody.
Hello, it's John.
Cub.
Puppet Porter.
Also.
Uh.
Haltov.
Um.
Um.
Okay, so.
Um.
Okay, I don't really know any songs.
But, um, if I did, we would go like this.
Boop.
Boop.
Boop.
Boop.
Boop.
Okay.
That's really impressive.
Have you got a, um, an encore?
Yes.
Yes, I do.
Go something like this.
Rough.
Rough.
Rough.
Rough.
Rough.
Rough.
Oh, okay.
Is that about it?
That's all I got for now.
I have a funny feeling that we won't have any problem with YouTube.
Everything's going to be a-okay.
I kind of thought so too.
Um.
But we're going bald.
We're going big.
And we're already at home.
So everything's good.
Happy crafting everybody.
Sunshine.
Halt.
Okay.
Thank you, boy.
All right.
So there you go, folks.
Right from the pop-smouth.
Um.
If you don't know for gosh sakes, I forgot to tell you.
