Wayfair every style every home okay wall chuck so I mean as you as you look at some of these things
like overall the osamove how surprised were you on that and do you like the idea because you
mentioned it and we've heard it from a handful of people now we're talking with John Mishoda on
on our radio show and we've talked to some other guys that are on the beat it doesn't seem like
they want to take that 92 pick and flip it for a win now veteran player like Jonathan Grenard
from the Vikings who's a really really really you know pro bowl level for sure
ed rusher it seems like they're like hey we've got we just brought in a new coaching staff defensively
a lot of these guys are coming from the college ranks they feel confident that they they
really know these prospects from a draft standpoint and so and hey they didn't they don't
have a second-round pick they didn't have a third-round pick so I understand the thinking there
hey we want a day to pick like for sure so they get 92 in the trade from San Francisco for osa
and it seems like they want to stick and pick there overall just your thoughts on that whole
that whole deal yeah I mean it does to me theme as that it's like hey I appreciate the fact that
they they have a plan in a vision and that's something is though I don't know that we could
always say about the Cowboys and when it comes to building this defense it there were so many holes
that realistically they probably couldn't have accomplished everything in one-off season but the
draft is now going to be huge and it always is for them and if they're able to really hit on
these players and all of a sudden what we're saying about the defense then you get a jump start
I think it's a little bit you you kind of have to be careful because you never know how quickly
some of these guys are going to be able to adjust and hit the ground running at the NFL level
but there have been cases of other draft classes that have come in when you look at New Orleans when
they had three straight eight-nate seasons then they absolutely hit Marcus Williams was a third-round
pick the safety that they took that year he was absolutely phenomenal for them there's others I
mean look Anthony Brown a sixth-round pick when the Cowboys drafted in 2016 was a starter for them
immediately and it was pretty darn good so you look at other Cowboys defenses in the past even
when they haven't been super talented can you get by on creating having and turning the football
over you know there's going to be a premium on being able to turn it over so I I think in the
third round there's going to be some guys whether it is your linebacker could it be Josiah Trotter
Adam Azoo could it be a corner that slides your way like is that where maybe you can address your
nickel player whether that's Chandler Rivers the corner back at a Duke who I think could be probably
a second-rounder but you've got so many good corners in this class maybe teams just see these players
differently and they've got them ranked differently on their boards so as he a guy that could fall
to you is it Keonte Scott from Miami who I know you're very very high on and I love the way that he
plays so I think he fits perfectly with the Christian Parkers trying to do here from a physicality
standpoint Brian thinks that he could play some strong safety I'm not going to count them out
there like are there players that could slide or if you want to continue to add some pure
thoroughbred pass rushers you've got the opportunity there pick 92 whether it's Ramello
height from Texas Tech if he can get there a Joshua Joseph says one of the best first steps
in the entire draft of me when it comes to being able to time the snap down and just fire off
the line the edge from Tennessee he would be a fun player there a Kiran Crawford from Auburn
at 92 who I think is going to start his career as a true third down situational pass rutscher
and then kind of around out the rest of his game like there are names that you can talk about
there that I do think will have a role that could really try and help them and then safety too I mean
Bud Clark from TCU can he make it there to 92 VJ Payne from Kansas States a player that I like
quite a bit that I've gotten the third round range Kamari Ramsey from USC they're supposed to
actually have in for a 30 visit that's a guy who's got some range and some good coverage ability so
there are a lot of players that you're going to feel good about I think the second and third round
is really the strength of this year's class and there's probably a big drop off but that's really
the when you're when you're talking about moving down from like 20 to say 35 like is the the
variance and player that you're going to end up getting there super different no it's not like
you're probably going to have a similar guy that you're talking about taking at 20 that you would
be taking at 30 or 40 in this year's draft it's just kind of how it is in this year's class so
you know to me I think they've got a vision which I'm excited for but I can understand wanting to
hang on to pick 92 because there's going to be a lot of players there that we're probably going to
like and it also kind of gives you ammunition of is there a player in the second round if you want to
pair three and one of your fives to move up and be aggressive like let's say your linebackers
there maybe it's Anthony Hill Jr. from Texas maybe it's Jay Rod from Texas Tech and he doesn't
go in the first round or CJ Allen from Georgia and you want to be aggressive and go get that guy in
the second it gives you the flexibility to do that as well so overall I understand wanting to get
pick 92 but it's certainly even defensive tackles there's a there's a wide range of possibilities
that are on defense of a quality player that you can pick that I do think will be able to help
you immediately yeah yeah and that's the great news you know and and there is still they're super
open in terms of the position because other than linebacker that's like you literally I don't know
that you have a quality enough set of linebackers right now that you could just run out there
and play but otherwise you got bodies you got bodies at these positions so depending on what's
available to you you could go a multitude of different directions positionally defensively on
this draft right now so that's all very exciting you mentioned that nickel player which is hugely
important as well that's another one of those positions where like okay Jalen Thompson you bring
him in from the Cardinals he's got some of that you know maybe that's a role that is sort of
situational and by by committee to some extent by match up in year one of Parker if they don't
identify a guy in the draft that like hey that's our guy because it is a unique position and I do
think this draft offers plenty of quality options but if you're not able to get a guy for sure
that it's like okay this is our you know this is our M and Warrior whatever type player that boom
here we go plant the flag right there Cooper to Jean whatever then okay like maybe we can have
depending on the match up in the situation we have you know two or three guys that can kind of
bounce around and play that role and then as you look ahead to next year in 2027 okay let's try
and find the guy for that position but that's another spot that is supposed to be like maybe the
most important role of the entire defense in this new scheme so that's going to be something like
you really absolutely got to iron out and I do think it's interesting like we talk about the size
factor on the defensive line and how clearly they're they want some bigger dudes which is cool
but one of the things on the back end bringing in a guy like Kobe Durant like how does that change
I know this fires you up because you you are a tiny DB lover guy I know you are at your core
and Kobe Durant fits the bill of a smaller dude like under 510 like 180 pounds and he was really
really fast maybe maybe speed is going to be something like Mitchell and Dejean in in Philadelphia
Blazers super fast maybe the the archetype and the traits for what they're looking at at the
cornerback position which was it was been want the bigger guys they want the long arm dudes they want
the bigger corners maybe Christian Parker's coming in here and just seeing the Kobe Durant move go
okay if he can get use out of a 5.9 and a half buck 80 corner I don't think many of the defenses
over the past decade and Dallas would have looked Kobe Durant but like I can get use out of you
because of your side so maybe they're changing hey we want the big bodies on the defensive line
but maybe in the back end they're willing to sacrifice size for speed yeah and and I mean
reflecting back on Will McClay said to our morning show at the combat at 105 through the fan
and he said you can get in trouble with traits and then he talked about Jordan Lewis and Jordan
Lewis was an undersized corner and to me there's something about these if I turn on the tape and
you're 510 but you're ballin I don't care like I that's that's what's annoyed me about
teams and the cowboys can fall into this like I've got it in my measurables I need my arm length
I need you to check the certain hike qualification I need your wingspan to be XYZ I need you to run
this type of 10 yard shuttle this type of 40 your 20 yard sprint should be this this look
there's so many this is a very good tiny defensive back class when you're talking about guys
that are six foot below the angel of ponds out of Indiana freaking dog right Kianta Scott
that I mentioned out of Miami dog and it sounds like that like Christian Parker when you look at
the way Kobe Durant plays he's got that chip on his shoulder this dude's not afraid to run
under the trash get into the fire stick his nose in it and smack somebody right you need somebody
with that grit that physicality and I think that there's a lot of those type of corners and this
year's drought a name that I am hoping and I've been in love with him since I watched him he's
a top three corner to me Chris Johnson the corner from San Diego State supposedly little birdie
tells me they had dinner with him before his pro day America leads the world in medicine development
it matters we get new medicines first nearly three years faster five million Americans go to work
because we make medicines here at home and not relying on other countries keeps us safe but China
is racing to overtake us will we let them or will we choose to stay ahead when America leads America
cures let's tell Washington to keep us in the lead learn how at america cures dot com pay for by
pharma so I think there's interest in Chris Johnson that's a 4 4 40 guy you know that's one where I
got a little feather in the cap and I love Brian to death finally in year four this I feel a little
bit more confident speaking up you know it's like okay maybe I'm gonna miss more than I'm right about
all right I'll say that but Chris Johnson all right that was a dub that was a dub right there so now
even Brian's like okay all right it can run because the tapes tremendous like super sticky
can stay in your hip pocket also will come up and tackle but he's like a six foot guy right he's
not your typical Dan Quinn like I'm freaking huge you know you're you're browning you're you're
Richard Sherman you know what they drafted with nishon right when they were here you know more
is one of those corners from Florida that's like six three big body type but you're right maybe it's
like I want the better athlete I want the quickness I want the speed you know I want the corners that
I can rely on to come up and run support everything seems like it is a big shift in first and
foremost if we don't stop the run and we can't do that at a high level to try and at least
force defense is to be one-dimensional and I get it big plays it can be a pass happy league but
we've seen the shift now to wanting to be more of a running style offense and that was to combat
some of the smaller defensive position groups that really built themselves into we're gonna stop
the pass so now you've got your too high double safety we're gonna try and limit the big plays
on the back end but we're gonna try and be really stout and defend the run in the front seven
that that might be kind of what they're looking at here so this is a tremendous tiny DB class
I'm trying to champion the tiny DB I love the fact that Will McLean the Cowboys are circling around
of this and they're like you know what maybe we should pivot from some of these measurements
because there's I mean Chandler Rivers is a guy that I mentioned from Duke smaller guy dude's freaking
incredible when you go watch a play and that's a perfect nickel player avion terrell I don't know
that they'd have interest in him in the past from Clemson at 20 if he's there perfect for what
Christian Parker wants reminds me a lot of Jordan Lewis in the way that he plays so this is this
is definitely the draft class in my opinion to pivot from that previous thinking yeah that's very
exciting that's very exciting because you just laid out that there's a bunch of dudes that maybe
would not have been considerations for the Cowboys in the past at corner because they don't meet the
size qualification but this draft features a lot of those guys and it seems like Christian Parker
and company are going to be open to that size of player I think the speed thing will be a factor we
