And then of course last night it was Venice,

Wella taking down the defending champion Japanese team and they will be advancing

to the semi-final round where they will play the Italians tomorrow.

Okay, when it comes to the United States and the Dominican Republic,

make no mistake about it.

This is a fucking clash of the Titans.

The very best pitcher and all of baseball going against the best WBC lineup ever assembled.

Scenes versus Tatees, Soto, Vlad Jr., Machado, Jr. Caminero, J. Rodden.

And how about the one Gringo that the Dominican has?

or at least has Dominican roots and he has been huge.

The bottom line is this, there was a perceived arrogance surrounding this US team,

whether it was the Dero situation, Rice Harper saying that the WBC is no

Olympics.

You have Tariq Shubel who ended up bouncing.

The question becomes, are they all in?

I don't know.

They survived in tight one against a much inferior Canada team the other day.

The Canadians had the time run on base.

They were able to get out of it.

The back end of their bullpen has been really good.

You got the Dominicans who have outstored opponents 51 to 10.

Not only that, they are playing with a passion, energy, and effort

that is so fucking far superior to anything else I've seen.

Don't get me wrong.

It's not like these other teams aren't playing hard.

But when you see guys like Wantsoto pulling the swim move

at home plate the other night.

And then right after that, it was Vladimir Guerrero Jr.

going full fucking Superman into home plate.

These dudes are playing different.

That is the bottom line.

So you're looking at this game.

I'm looking at this game.

And for whatever reason, the Dominicans are an underdog.

I get it.

It's Paul Schienes versus Luis Severino.

In a regular season matchup between, say, those two guys,

Schienes would be a heavy favorite in that situation.

These guys aren't going nine innings.

As a matter of fact, we're talking 50, 60 pitches.

And when it comes to Severino, I'd be surprised if he goes more than one time

through the lineup.

And then you turn it over to a bull pin

that is absolutely fucking loaded for the Dominican.

Look,

there's these vids popping up all over the place

of Dominican fans going berserk.

They got their chance.

They got their instruments and everything.

I am having flashbacks to when I was in

Santo Domingo playing for these days.

We won a championship.

This shit's real, man.

It is.

And yes, the United States created this great game.

But there's a huge argument to say that the Dominicans,

the way they play the game with the flair, the fan base,

that the Dominican carries with it,

they've saved what many have called a dying sport from death.

They have had a fucking huge impact.

So when I look at this game,

it's one of those things where there's more to it.

And obviously, a brock flag and eagle baby,

born, raised, United States, spending the time in Dominican,

I certainly appreciate what that Dominican culture has brought to the game of baseball.

And there were certain things that say, I would watch.

I would see or I wouldn't even think about doing.

Obviously, pimping a home run that all of a sudden you realize it's showmanship.

And that showmanship actually plays.

It's not necessarily a disrespect to your opponent.

It's more about the expression of who they are as baseball players,

as people, and as a culture.

So spending all that time down there,

parts of six different seasons, playing in the Dominican,

I really fucking appreciate it.

And I hope other Americans and other baseball fans can appreciate it as well.
