2:02On Lock the New Pep Peep today, didn't really realize this got under my skin as much as it does until I realized it gets under my skin as much as it does earlier today. On this Tuesday, September 1st, the year of our Lord 2026, I'll tell you what that pet peeve is. As you know, week one is upon us. And you're probably listening to team previews. And you're listening to a very, very rosy glowing version of your team, and it probably sounds something like that. But you know, I'm not going to be talking about the most popular thing in the world, but I'm going to be talking about the most popular thing that I've ever seen. I've been doing this for a long time. It's a very, very rosy glowing version of your team, and it probably sounds something like this. Defensive lineman X, offensive tackle Y, you know, everybody kind of knows they were carrying around 20 pounds of bad weight last year. But now they've trimmed down. But I go back to the season previews from last year, and no one was admitting that.

3:03So all I'm asking for out there in the team previews fear is for everyone, if you know something wrong with the team, if you know something's fattin' out of shape right now, don't wait until a year from now and tell me, I want to know now it would save me a lot of embarrassment possibly, some lost money, so we need to know early and often all the flaws, all the deficiencies, all the warts. Don't be telling me, oh, it was obvious a year later. If it's obvious a year from now, it's obvious today. We have full week one predictions tonight, very fired up about it. And I don't even use that terminology all that much, but we're fired up about it. We got a lot of games to get to Marcel Reed-Hates, Texas, as he should need a little more competitive hatred in this world. Lane Kiffin, some are saying just misunderstood, Jesse. We will discuss, not very long, because we've already belabored this point, but even as of the past 30 minutes, like there's some stuff coming out on this, look at that flag, oh, the don't tread on Saturday flag.

4:03I hate for those of you listening on podcast that you can't see. That flag is starched in the breeze up there. All that plus, you know what returns tonight, the ramen noodle express returns tonight. I think we could go undefeated this year. You know what, let's not get ahead of ourselves. 70% against the spread. I don't see why it's out of reach, Jesse. If kids and coaches and officials don't screw up, I don't see why it's out of reach. Oxford, Mississippi is tuned in. Denver, Colorado, Ashburn, Virginia. It's a good rail cam in Ashburn, Virginia, by the way. And Birmingham, Alabama, tuned in. It helps us, and it's free. Let's dive in to the show. I can't believe we've arrived here, but you know what we have tonight? We don't have to talk about court cases. We don't have to talk about legal battles. We don't have to talk about playoff expansion, because we have what are called football games.

5:04Right there on the calendar, starting, oh, in a couple of days, and extending all throughout the weekend. So, Bradley, here's a good end point for you. We'll be on the sidelines down there in Death Valley Saturday night. Looking very much forward to this one. But I do want to clasp both hands together in prayer emoji fashion and remind you, you're not going to learn everything you need to know in this game. And the evidence is to go back one year ago when we saw these two teams playing Clemson. And we saw Brian Kelly, former LSU Tiger Head Coach, and LSU go up there and win. And I was just looking at a video of some LSU fans dancing on the field after the game, thinking that you had learned everything

6:04you need to know about this team. And you hadn't. It was just two bad teams. And one of them had to win. That was the long and short of it. So, we're going to learn some stuff Saturday. But we're probably not going to learn everything we need to know. Unless it's 45 to 13 LSU. In which case, we've probably learned what we need to know about Clemson. But you know what? Let's dive into the details. We don't have to speak in long-term hypotheticals anymore. What I have to see from Clemson is I have to see the offensive line give him a chance. Because the rest of the stuff I'm about to say doesn't really matter if this non-negotiable doesn't show up for them. So, very famously, Clemson could not run the ball last year. A number of big-time power programs were off the mark run in the ball last year. Clemson was one of them. They were in the 100s in Rush Yards per game last year. Now Chad Morris comes in as offensive coordinator. He was in the 30s, 38th. I think it was at Virginia. So, I've got a new starter at quarterback in Chris Fizzina.

7:04And that position's been kind of weird slash unsettled. Like he's going to get the start. But it doesn't really feel like it's settled fully. But we're not going to throw a true freshman to the wolves here. We couldn't run the ball last year. We got to try and figure out if we can. All of that hinges on that offensive line, at least given you a chance. There can be a plan. Like I don't doubt Clemson's got a plan. I don't doubt that Chad Morris can scheme up a plan. But there is no plan that accounts for the offensive line being a sieve. Or being an outright disaster all night. And so, those guys, specifically those tackles, going into this environment against that pass rush. At least what that pass rush could be. It concerns me. It's not the end of the world. You just got to get better offensive line play there. I think at corner, LSU, and one of the premier matchups in this game, one of the big spotlights. If we just move the spotlight over there, there's DJ Pickett.

8:04And there's PJ Woodland, those guys against Bryant, Westgo, TJ Moore. That's a spotlight moment. There will be several of them in this game. Because you've got several guys that theoretically could be your leading receiver for LSU on a given night. For Clemson, it's really those two guys. It's not an exhaustive list of their wide receiver room mind you. But those are probably your two standouts. If they're going to be different makers in this game, those are going to be the guys. And the question remains whether Clemson has to live in a bunch of obvious pass downs in this game. But I think that is where running success is so critical for Clemson because LSU against the run. Like if there's a way this game tilts that is slightly unexpected, maybe it's that for all the promise and all the hype and eventual follow through that you think that LSU defensive front will have. You know, getting a guy like Doose Gerald's in there.

9:04For all the potential they have, maybe they're a little more susceptible to the run early in the season than you're comfortable with. And maybe that's how Clemson doesn't constantly find themselves in third and nine. You know, a bunch of third and two, third and three instead of that. And they can afford to be balanced and they can afford to, you know, the best way I can describe it is kind of from a game plan perspective, nurse, Chris Vessina through this thing and maybe settle him in instead of just watching him get thrown to sharks. Because that's kind of what death Valley at the LSU version can be. If you're just in third and nine all night, just a terrible horrific place to be. If you're a road quarter back in obvious passing situations all night. So I don't like Clemson's offensive tackle matchup at all here. But you know what, it's week one. So we don't really know anything. So that's where the game has to shift a little bit. They got to be able to run the ball. They cannot put Vessina in a situation where he's the one who has to go win it.

10:05They're not there. How good they are at wide receiver. Can't do that. It's an unfair position to put him in. There is a scenario where LSU's passing game. I think just turns all of this mute slash moot. You know, the kind of thing where you're watching a game and the line was ten and a half and that's what it is LSU minus ten and a half. And then it's the early stages of the fourth quarter and the game's out of reach. Because Sam Levitt showed off his true dual threat 2024 version of himself. And he's thrown for 275 or 300 and he's run for 75 yards and everything just clicked. They got half a dozen receivers there that could stand out. And maybe it's just that they're that much better. You know, there is that scenario. Clemson was 120th in past defense last year. Now hold on. I know a lot of you're yelling at your screen right now. I know what they did in the portal. I know that.

11:06But yet we don't know what it yields yet. That is the great unknown about college football. It's different from pro football and that you kind of sort of have an idea of what NFL teams are coming into week one. I'll be it still mystery there. But in college football, even the knowns are unknowns in college football in week one. So I'll tell you what Clemson did. They dispeled that misnomer that they are totally resistant to the portal and they did go get a couple of safeties that'll start and they wouldn't got a corner that'll start. They think they shorted up. They they trust their situation in the secondary and the thing about it is you're not playing Citadel and a couple of other teams. You'll be a three or four touchdown favorite against and then we find out in week four. You get tested in week one. So as I'm trying to imagine the style that this game takes on. I think there's the LSU fast start scenario where they come out and they're really balanced on offense.

12:08Because remember LSU sucked run in the ball last year too. So they got that to prove as well. And there is a world where they look really good. I mean, Lane through the script and beyond the script. It looks exactly how you would hope that LSU offense looks. And as a result, Clemson constantly is playing from behind early and often. And I don't like the prospect of them in catch up mode candidly. There's that scenario. But there is the other scenario where who knows, man, maybe all these new pieces. Not to mention the whole off field distraction piece. It just leads to LSU looking a little off kilter early. And it leads to a couple of short possessions. And then Clemson can run the ball a little bit. And they do get a little push on that line of scrimmage against younger, somewhat lighter guys early on. And they just move chains. And it's kind of a grinder of a game.

13:08But you look and you say, dude, there's already just five minutes to go in a second quarter. Like, how is this first half flown by like that? And they're just kind of pulling you out in the deep end a little bit more. Crowd's volumes get turned down just a little bit more. And before you know it, it's half time. And Clemson's got you in a slugfest. Kind of like last year's game was. You're not trying to imagine how it would go. The pucker meter would be rising quickly in the latter scenario as opposed to the former. So let's take a look at what the model thinks. First time I've said that all year, Jesse, the fandall number right now is LSU minus 10 and a half. Okay. For the models part in all this, it does link Clemson a little bit, not straight up, but against the number. The model has LSU minus 8 and a half. Now I instituted a new rule around here this year because we're allowed to do that. And that is if I'm going to take something, I don't strictly have to stick with sides this year.

14:08So like for instance, I love under 50 and a half in this game. So what I'm going to do is I will of course, I'll lean LSU to when. Think there are a few too many variables that have to go Clemson's way from me to be comfortable with that. Although I will say, man, there's some external dynamics here. There's some intangibles that do not make me discount Clemson. Please don't misunderstand me. I'm not doing that at all. And in fact, if I had to pick against the number, I'd probably go Clemson slightly there. But I feel a lot better about the under. So under 50 and a half is my official pick on this one, not a Ramanoodle Express edition mind you. But my official pick, but I'll take LSU to win the game. We'll be there either way. Be there Saturday night. Quickly before we move on to other games on the docket, I did want to address one thing because this has been even even as we've gone throughout the day. There's more and more and more on what's about to happen Thursday preceding this game.

15:10In an ideal world, the football game is of primary and total focus. But we do not live in a perfect world. We live in a real world and it is full of all kinds of headlines that we don't really love talking about. But this one does warrant a little bit of discussion because I know that a lot of people, in fact, everybody has an opinion on what's happened in LSU. Give me that question someone asked earlier today. Jeffrey from Houston hit me and he said, why is Lane Kiffin and LSU doing what they're doing with the NFL guys? Pay attention to this part. It's not going to work and he has to know it's wrong. Okay. I have spoken my piece on this. I hate it. Most people hate it. I mean, there's consensus amongst the college football public and apparently most everyone else that we don't like the idea of guys who have been on even a practice squad. Much less trying out for camps and in the pro game coming back to college.

16:10Okay. Pretty easy to understand where people stand there and then the LSU folks like, well, we're not the only one trying to do it. Correct. You're just the face of it. It's pretty obvious why, but you are correct. The T-babs of the world are correct. No, it's not just LSU. So I didn't even want to focus on that because everyone including myself has spoken our piece on this. Keep this up for a second, Bradley, because I want to focus on the why. Why is Lane and LSU doing this? Why are Lane and LSU doing this? Very simple. Lane Kiffin wants to win football games and he thinks he found an edge. He thinks he found a way potentially to make LSU a better team than they are right now. And they're pursuing it because they think they can. Whether you think they should, whether you feel good about it, whether it ends up being allowed, that's beside the point. You asked why I'm telling you why. Now, as for the last sentence there, it's not going to work and he has to know it's wrong.

17:10That's kind of the part I wanted to focus on here because look, as much as I think the overarching principle, overrides any of the details, the details do exist. And the details are the NCAA is the entity that screwed this up nine ways from Sunday, as usual. And then when everyone starts fighting over a screw up that the NCAA is guilty of, then people kind of tribalistically take sides in the argument, it's either A or it's B. You know, it's black or it's white. It's one or it's two. No, no, it could just be their fault. It could be their fault over there. You could want to point that index finger over there. And the point I'm making specifically, as it relates to this, is these people pass this rule in June. After these guys had already left to go to the NFL and their argument, which has validity to it, is, well, had we known that rule is going to pass or had we known that these court rulings were going to go in our favor, we would have been more equipped to make the decision not to even go to the NFL to begin with.

18:15And we would have rid ourselves of this mess, translation, pass the rule in December or something like that, or wait and pass it later after the next season's already started. But no, no, you had to wake up one morning and, you know, like spin the wheel or drop the little polico dice and, oh, it landed on, we're going to make the announcement today. So from Lane's perspective, he doesn't think it's wrong. It's not a, it's not a sort of a moralistic stance or a viewpoint along those lines to him. I'm not asking you to agree with him. I don't even agree with him. But I'm not the head coach at LSU. He is. So what I said before, and I've said often, and I'll say at least once more, is I don't put it at the feet of a competitor to voluntarily avoid pursuing a competitive edge that they think they can legally gain. That's why rules exist. And if your rules aren't enforceable, that's not Lane Kiffin's fault.

19:18That is many, many, many other people's faults that preceded him long ago up to an including current leadership or like thereof. And my point is still that. So, you know, I got no problem saying, oh, I hate all this. I've got no problem saying, I wish Lane wouldn't do that. Cause that's how I feel. But I can't say that I wouldn't do the same thing if I were to head coach at LSU. Cause I'm not. So, you know, neither are you. So you can't really talk about how wrong you would or wouldn't think it is. You can think you know that. I like to think I wouldn't do it. I absolutely like to think I wouldn't do it. But I don't know. And even if I wouldn't, it also doesn't mean that I'm going to paint the dude who is doing it as evil or you know, I can't serve to the game. The very structure or lack thereof that made this possible. That's your problem. Cause Lane Kiffin could retire from LSU tomorrow. And it'd be a big story. But then after the dust cleared from that, you know what you'd still have these problems.

20:19It just wouldn't be in this machination. It would be in another one. But I will say this. This is going to get really interesting and could get really ugly this Thursday. Cause it feels like LSU is pretty resolute. Like even as recently as just last couple hours, these players, the leadership down there, some of these captains, I think, weeks included said, hey, look, we know our roster situation. And we got room. And by the way, that's been the case all along. I think that's kind of been misreported. LSU didn't have to cut a bunch of guys for this. They've got room. I don't know if people know that or not. Yeah, they got room. But the players have been adamant, hey, we're okay with it. You know, Lane for his part said, hey, my player said it's okay. That went over very well yesterday, by the way. And on the flip side, Don De Plowman, who is the chancellor at Tennessee, one of the most important names in the SEC, reaffirmed today. Hey, we're not budging on this. There will be consequences if this happens. And then I saw Dellinger right as we were about to go on air, reported that the college football playoff committee met today. And they talked about two things.

21:22One of them's great. One of them's horrible. One of them was they are talking about disqualifying teams who roster pro players. The other thing they talked about was a 2014 playoff. But I digress. This is not the show for that. So I don't know what's going to happen Thursday. I greatly prefer to just talk about the game. Okay. But this is going to probably get a lot of time before it resolves itself. Because it's only Tuesday right now. I don't know what we're getting ourselves into going down there. But I got a feeling that we're going to have to know some legal references that you know, it's like the movie almost famous when the band is arguing with each other about responsibility and whatnot. And then all of a sudden, Russell, I can't remember if it was Russell or Jeff, one of the band members said, hold on. Wait a second. Did we all get into rock and roll to avoid responsibility? That's kind of me right now. It's like, hold on. Did we all get into college football to avoid talking about legal matters? Nope.

28:36You could also see the unfortunate news that these stadiums are two of the great on-campus stadiums in college football. So naturally, we're playing this in an NFL venue, at least it's Lambo. But that's out of our control. What's in our control is trying to find a way to paint the path towards potentially, possibly flirting with the idea of an upset. I'm trying, Jesse. I'm really trying because it's hard to envision. But a lot of times on the show, when we get point spreads this big, we have to look in the mirror and say, let's be real. This point spread is what it is for a reason. Notre Dame is very, very likely to run this thing Sunday night. But there is a truth. And one of the truths is, I think I like Wisconsin a little bit more than the public does in general, not in this game, but in general. Another truth is, I just despise this match up for them. So I've got a theory that's going to be in play here.

29:37We've never debuted this theory on the show, frankly, because I've never had a reason to debut this theory on the show, but new theory coming in a few minutes. Anyway, what I like to do with these kinds of games is I just like to take my own opinion and set it to the side. Okay, pretend that's my opinion. I'm going to set it to the side for a second. And I'm going to transport myself to an alternate universe where it is Sunday night and it is a dogfight in the fourth quarter. And Wisconsin is about to pull it out by kicking the last second field goal. And let's ask ourselves, how did this happen? Well, the first thing that probably happened is Wisconsin remembered that they were Wisconsin. You know, once upon a time, this was not a fun team to play, because they could really take it to you. They didn't take a backseat physically to anyone. Here's the problem. They forgot somewhere along the way what that felt like. And now they're trying to rediscover that identity against one of the most physical teams, both sides of the ball in the country. So Abu Sama, who plays at Wisconsin now, by the way, he's got to run it early and often.

30:39Colton Joseph, who's the old Dominion transfer. He's got to be a godsend. He's got to be everything that the quarterback position has not been able to be for Wisconsin the last couple of years. And they got to just have one of those good clot melting, chain moving, boring kind of games. There's beauty in boring, as Mimaw used to say, watching Wisconsin. It's been a while though. Number two thing that probably has had to have happened if Wisconsin is close to pulling an upset is maybe just maybe we're wrong. Maybe losing two first round draft pick running backs is a bigger deal. Maybe they're not as equipped to backfill as people like me think they are. Maybe C.J. Carr just hasn't off night. Who knows? Maybe he's mentally rattled by the Heisman hype, Jesse. Again, you have no idea how hard I'm trying right now to present the idea. I just, I look at Wisconsin secondary and I look at C.J. Carr and I still believe in the fact that he's going to be a big hit.

31:45I still believe in this Notre Dame wide receiver room and I think it's a very, very bad match up for him. But who knows? Maybe in an effort to try and expose that. Maybe there's some errant balls, some tipped balls and anything could happen. It is the sport of football after all. I really don't think it's enough. So I told you I have a new theory that I'm going to put in play here because I believe it with Wisconsin. I am not selling on Wisconsin. I'm not selling on Luke Fickle this year. But we have to insert a new paid state theory here. This is 4,000 class level stuff. I'm going to call it the Glen Jacobs theory. He is the outgoing mayor of Knox County, Tennessee, a friend of the program, by the way. But once upon a time, you knew him as Isaac Yankeum in the mid 90s. It was a very, very bad time for the world wrestling federation. And so, Glen Jacobs was playing the role of an evil dentist. And shockingly that didn't work.

32:45And then he came back as fake diesel because this is that weird time warp period where even though guys left to go to the other company, Vince McMahon believed that since he still owned the intellectual property of diesel, he just found another real tall guy and make him diesel and the crowd would go for it. And equally as shockingly that didn't work. Okay? Much like Wisconsin football has not worked the last couple of years. So what happened with Glen Jacobs? Well, he last appeared in the 1997 Royal Rumble. You all remember that. And then he disappears for months and months and months until Bad Blood 1997, St. Louis, Missouri, I believe. Yep. And here comes Kane, which is Glen Jacobs just underneath a mask because he was set on fire as a child as the legend goes. And he runs off a 20 year career, multi-time world champion, one of the most awesome characters in the history of pro wrestling.

33:47And the Glen Jacobs theory is sometimes you just need to disappear for a little while before you can reappear in a big way. And I think Wisconsin's schedule very ironically sets up. Let's just call Notre Dame the 1997 Royal Rumble for all intents and purposes because I think Wisconsin's going to lose. And I think they're going to disappear for a little while, but I don't think their story's over. Because I think their Bad Blood could appear right there in state college, Pennsylvania, in Jesse's backyard on September 26th. Because while everyone else has been looking at that Penn State schedule and saying, guys, let's kick our feet up. This is a two game season. Jesse has said that exact thing to me many times with his feet propped up. I don't believe that. I think Wisconsin could get run, disappear, and reappear as a little bit more of a team to take seriously this year than many of you believe that they are. In the meantime, they're going to get handled Sunday night because I'm taking Notre Dame to win and cover.

34:51But we have given birth to the Glen Jacobs theory on the show. They're watching us in sunrise, Florida. They're watching us in Pasca, Gula, Mississippi. They're watching us in beautiful and still sunny San Jose, California. Every time I mentioned San Jose, my mind just goes back. And this is what I'll do respect to the fine people of San Jose, California. But we were there the morning of the national title game in 2018. No one there even knew the title game was in Santa Clara. That just clueless. That viewer notwithstanding. Leave it to the playoff committee, man. Friends of ours, of course, but terrible decision there. Baylor versus Auburn could be the game of the week. This 1,000% has fourth quarter chaos game of week potential written all over it. And I'm going to tell you why. You've seen it a million times before. Someone picks a guy to be the SEC preseason number one quarterback. And he implodes in on himself like a dying star.

35:53And then everybody gets fired. And everyone transfers. And that quarterback goes to Baylor where the head coach there only still has a job because the AD got himself in hot water. And he got fired before he could fire the head coach the year before. And then they go to Atlanta even though the game was supposed to be on home campus at Jernher stadium, but they moved it so they can make more money. And that quarterback a year later fulfills on his potential. We've all seen it happen. We have happened a million times. This would just be a million and one. Now, for those of you who don't understand the therapy session you just walked in on. I believed past tense in DJ Lague. I had him rank the number one SEC quarterback last year. He imploded in on himself like a dying star. He would say it's a lot more because of his surroundings than his own personal performance. My words not his. I still haven't forgotten the LSU game. So the range of outcomes for DJ Lague. Now starting quarterback at Baylor are as wide as your eyes can see on the horizon.

36:55There is homeless over here. There's high man over here. Anything and everything is in play. So what are we going to get Saturday afternoon in Mercedes-Benz stadium? Oh, by the way, insert Alex Gholish. First game as head coach at Auburn. A lot of times in the old school when you had your debut as a head coach, it normally meant that you were debuting a really unproven roster. And that's not the case anymore, depending on which major media outlet you choose to trust. Auburn either has the tenth or the 21st most experienced roster in the country. Either way, it's not bad. So I was listening to Urban Myer talk earlier today about how his philosophy when he took new jobs came to be go take the new job, keep the defensive coordinator there. Because you're the offensive guy, keep consistency on the defensive side. Alex Gholish has done that with DJ Dirkin. So let's talk about this game a little bit. I think a non-negotiable for Baylor is, and this is pretty groundbreaking stuff here,

37:58okay, you won't find this just anywhere. I don't think Baylor should turn over the ball. But they did it a lot last year. There were 130th and turnovers last year, and lagway was 14 interceptions last year, right, Jesse? So history and logic were, if they were on the table right now, they would tell you this is going to go horribly. I don't know what say to you. This is just not the way college football works. So it could be in lagways DNA to throw for 310, 3 touchdowns, no picks Saturday, because this sport never makes any sense. So what's the status of this Baylor offensive line? They got four new starters that doesn't always mean weakness. It just means gigantic question. A lot of this game I think will be put on lagway shoulders though, because until I can trust the offensive line, I'm going to consider him a question, slash a little bit of a weakness. The wide receiver room is completely turned over, so I don't really know what to expect from Baylor. I hope Auburn does. I don't. But I will say the Auburn offensive line versus Baylor's defensive line, to me is kind of where the game has decided.

39:03So Baylor last year was 102nd and Rush Yards per game allowed. Now, this is kind of like Clemson. Like Clemson got torched through the air last year, but they think they addressed it via the portal. Well Baylor thinks they've addressed this via the portal to the point where you know, you bring in Joseo Wheeler, Weiss is their Cameron Washington's there. I heard a random talking the other day saying it's been one of the strengths of the team throughout camp. So what does that mean? Because what you do have offensively for Auburn is you do have a lot of guys who have played a lot of snaps together. This offensive line's kind of new, but overall like a lot of the guys that goalers brought with him aren't that good. Aren't busy learning the system. They know it quarterback included. He knows it. And so tempo is one of the staples of that Auburn offense now that Alex Golisch offense. And if that tempo bites early in that run game, can bite Baylor early? I don't like their prospects very much.

40:04Now, I will say in fairness, if I said it about Baylor, I'll say it about Auburn, you got to consider that offensive line of question mark until further notice. I think the Baylor secondary is pretty good. So if Auburn can't move it on the ground early, you know, if they look a little discombibulated early, and it's a bunch of obvious passing downs for Byron Brown. Now Baylor secondary can hold its own, I think. I think explosive plays are what we would call a prepadlock stat for this game. Because I am pretty sure when we're talking on Sunday, earlier show by the way on Sunday. When we're talking on Sunday, I would say explosive plays probably decided this thing. Auburn last year was terrible in that department. There were 119th in explosive plays. USF was 7th. And a lot of the guys responsible for that came without Alex Golisch to Auburn. So that's the prepadlock stat to me. It lag way could make that happen too. I guess when there's so many questions, my instinct is just go find what you think you can trust.

41:08And what I think I can trust in a game like this is I think I can trust Auburn's defense. But I do think there's something sneaky about Baylor that makes this really tight and a fourth quarter game. So let's take a look at what the model thinks. At Fandall, this number right now is Auburn minus 7 and a half. The model loves Baylor. We've got Auburn minus 3 and a half in the model. And so I don't have a strong lean here. I'm going to go Auburn to win the game, but I do go Baylor to cover. I can't ignore that blinking red light there. Model feels pretty good about Baylor. So close Auburn win, which if it happens, I don't know how that makes you feel if you're a Baylor fan. In some ways, you kind of absolve some of the worst fears. And if you're Auburn, hey man, almost everything's new. First time out of the garage is go get me a win. Let's come back home and get ready for Florida in two weeks.

42:08We move on. More games to get to. Big game in Nashville. Titans? No. Prens? No. Louisville all miss. Of course, again, why would we worry about playing in Louisville or in Oxford when you could just play in that Lego stadium that's going to be a pile of rubble in a couple of years? In the meantime, get some college football games in Nissan Stadium. This game's presented by Quick Trip, not the location. Quick Trip had nothing to say about the location, although they do have several convenient locations for you nationwide. There are a lot of knowns here. And there are some unknowns here. Trinidad Jamblis. I know him. Not personally. But as an athlete, I think we know eight games of 300 plus yards passing last year. SEC Newcomer of the Year. I don't need to tell you what the back of his card says. They got a strong wide receiver room at Ole Miss, strong running back room. Meanwhile, on the other side, Lincoln Keenholz.

43:11Slash Keenholz. We're really going to see how the pronunciation goes this year. What we know about him is he allegedly once upon a time pushed Julian Sey into the limit in the Ohio State quarterback battle. That is basically his resume. He was once upon a time the number 156 overall player in the on three portal rankings. That is what we know about him. He's bigger kid than I think most people realize is 6, 3, 2, 15. Here's what we do know about an unknown at the quarterback position. We do know who Jeff Brahms is. And we do know that if quarterbacks are sponges, he has squeezed every last drop out of multiple quarterbacks in terms of potential. But what he hasn't had in a little while, which I think could be a key in this game, is he has not had QB run available for a long time. In fact, paper popper of a stat here. The last three years, the quarterback position for Jeff Brahms, 174 attempts, minus 12 yards. Well, Josh, that includes sack yardage.

44:12Yeah, I know. But you get my point here. It just hasn't really been all that effective. If nothing else, he does have that element available to him. And that plus Isaac Brown, one of the best tail backs in the country, went healthy. And we think he is now, means they could do some business on the ground. Nothing but questions at wide receiver. Nothing but questions at offensive line, because Louisville is like a pancake. That roster just got totally turned over. But they've done a really good job of portaling difference making players in. So this is the quintessential question marks don't equal weaknesses kind of team. I don't know if Mimaw even said that because Mimaw did not experience the portal era, probably for the best, honestly. Is Ole Miss defensively as good as they appear? Because they appear really good still. Will Echols is still there. Cam Franklin, Sunter and Perkins, Keaton Thomas. Like they, they look good. It is a defensive head coach.

45:14Like I think this will still be a really strong unit. Louisville, you got the extreme portal overhaul. So I don't even know like all of these look like match up advantages for Ole Miss. But who knows? This is how a week one preview sounds in college football. Now who knows? Don't speak in definitive. Don't box yourself into believing in units that you have really no knowledge of. I am still waiting by the way to feel out how lethal that Ole Miss pass rush can be. That's the thing I wonder about them. With some of the transfers out, I know they think they have the potential. Because they do have the potential. Where does it come from? Who ends up being the big contributor or two there? Here's what I love though. Ole Miss returns interior offensive line in a Kiwan Lacey. And Louisville, if you listen to practice reports, if you listen to Intel out of fall camp, they got, sounds like one defensive tackle they really believe in. Outside of that, I still feel like there's a little remains to be seen about that group.

46:15And so when you have that and you have what Shameless adds, as much as I believe in Louisville's ability to run the ball, I believe in Ole Miss's ability to run the ball as much if not more. In theory, if we're going intangibles here, in theory, Jeff Brahms should have a coaching edge. Jeff Brahms has a coaching edge against most coaches. I actually think he's a top 10 coach in the country. All things considered. So, you know, I wouldn't put Pete top 10 just yet. But how much does it factor in here? Louisville, even in Brahms' time at Louisville, he's three and two versus top 12 teams. He knocked off some big time names at Purdue. So he's been good in these moments. I just tell you, there have been portions of the spring and summer knowing this game was coming. Where I looked and I said, like everyone else said, oh, be careful there. Yeah, you should be careful. It's a loosable game for Ole Miss. It's not like they don't know that. They're very aware of that. Maybe the public wasn't, but they are. But the more I've gotten close to it, the more I think, maybe it feels like Ole Miss has got a lot of edges in this game.

47:17It almost feels like the, this is one of the rare instances where there may be some slight value on the favorite. Even though the favorite's coming off a year which should have them overhyped, because everyone is so, so careful to try and find the weak one. Find the weak one upset that they zero in on games. And when you have a week to do that, there's not enough time to zero in on one collectively. But when you have months and months and months leading up to a game, people disproportionately get fixated on a game, usually the wrong one. They're fixated on this one right now. So they're going to be a lot of folks whispering the word Louisville Saturday morning and this game's a Sunday game, by the way. To the point where I don't know, Jesse, I don't feel strongly about it. The model, by the way, thinks the line is dead on the money. So Ole Miss is minus six and a half at Fandool. The model has Ole Miss minus six. I'm going to take Ole Miss to win and I think Ole Miss will cover.

48:17Because I don't want to deal with Trinidad Chamblers and Kiwan Lacey for four quarters. If you want to go to the game, that's your God-given right. I can't see you. Is he saying yes or no, press? Has he ever read, he has read most dangerous game? Fascinating. As books about hunting real human beings go, fascinating literature. Change my life, I know. So, I was thinking earlier today, we probably can't get away with that. But what we can get away with is we can get away with the play on words, and that's looking across the board and finding the most dangerous games that we probably otherwise wouldn't talk about in the sport this weekend. Because we live in a world where there's less certainty than ever. There's more roster-turn than ever, which theoretically means more as possible, more chaos as possible, especially in week one, than has ever been possible before.

54:23So, our new protocol on the campus of Pate State, they're asking if I'm really reading the chat, blink twice, yeah, some really reading the chat. Anyway, my protocol now is taking nothing for granted. So, I've got some games that I think are fairly dangerous that no one's going to break down. East Carolina at Alabama is one of them. Alabama is a 27 and a half point favorite, nearly a four touch now favorite. But there's still a lot of unknown with this Alabama team. A lot of ECU's roster turned over, so don't even worry about what they were last year. Good team last year, a lot of the roster turned over. I mean, Josh Johnson said Alabama is going to be out for blood. But I think they will be too. I think they were out for blooding as Florida State last year. Now, am I sitting here equating East Carolina to Florida State? Kind of, but not really. No, not really. In fact, if anything, Alabama is probably more on guard because that happened to them last year. My point is, there's a lot of first and it's a young team.

55:23Okay, so Keelan Russell, I think he's going to be a star. I think Alabama set out to prove they can run the ball for the first time since 2024. I think all of these things. But I don't take any of it for granted. Okay, I also, you know, I think about how good I feel about some of their position groups. But how one thing going wrong, one guy going down and having to be taken to the medical tent could just change the vibe and the tone of a game. Also, it's going to be roughly 147 degrees at kickoff. So, it'd be nice to see a BAM up 35 to 6 at the half. I don't assume these things. I don't assume that Oregon's just going to take care of business. They're playing Boise. Boise is better than most power four teams out there. We've got Boise power rated 46th. And while you may not think that sounds impressive, it's extremely impressive for a G16 team to be power rated that high. Oregon's favorite by 24 and a half. Oregon's had some slow starts under Dan Lanny.

56:25And you know good and well, most people have looked at this Oregon schedule and they've been zero in and on USC week four. They've assumed a win against Boise. They've assumed a win, a weird travel spot in week two against Oklahoma State. But I don't take this for granted. I don't, only because Boise is a season program where they really good head coach and they know how to hang in games. Like they don't play in an inferior style in these games. So, all the best case scenarios that you run through your head, you know like the highlight culture has taught people to think in terms of best case scenarios. The things you can envision happening. Buddy, there's a 45 to 14 Oregon win in the cards, obviously. But there's also a third quarter where it's a one possession game and you're saying, oh man, how in the world's Oregon going to win a national title if they can't even fill in the blank? It happens every year. So, I think this is a kind of dangerous game.

57:26I think Western Michigan and Michigan needs to be talked about. Michigan's a 27 and a half point favorite. I was just on Rich Eisen's show earlier today. And I mean, I saw Rich's face. He got a little flush in the cheeks when I talked about what I think Michigan could be capable of. But that doesn't mean that you can just look past Lance Taylor and the boys in Kalamazoo, I believe, Western Michigan. Yep. Uh-huh. You know who they have coming into town next week. Everybody knows the Oklahoma game is on deck. Everybody knows you don't want to show anything. For that matter, I should have talked to you to versus Oklahoma. Maria Martin on sideline duty for that game, by the way. Golf clap for Maria. But I'm getting sidetracked because I'm not circling you to Oklahoma. But I am circling Western Michigan Michigan. We've got a new, well, not a new everything, but a new a lot of things at Michigan. We've got a new offense being installed there. I believe in Bryce Underwood, but it could be a little wobbly coming out of the gate.

58:26Not to mention, you're not really opening things up against Western Michigan. Also, these games these days for these lower level teams, planning it's Michigan, it's everybody's Super Bowl. That's always the way it's been. Not a guy's want to end up transferring up to this level. By the way, everything I'm saying is a stupid microcosm of what college football is now. But be that as it may. This is the opportunity to get some of the highest quality film you can possibly get where you could shock yourself around after the season. Again, I hate it, but that kind of is what it is. So I'm not looking past that one. I'm definitely not looking past Fresno USC. This is a Friday, five o'clock local time kick. So we've already got USC attendance figures under the microscope. And now I'm asking our fine citizens of Southern California to brave Friday afternoon drive traffic to go see the Trojans teat up against Fresno State as a 21 and a half point favorite.

59:28Fresno's got a good enough athletic profile to where this could be a game. And it's, you know how this game's been talked about. Bradley show me, show me USC schedule for a second because the way USC schedule has been talked about is well, you know, USC's got three tune up games before they go to Rutgers. And even that'll kind of be a tune up game for Oregon. No, no, Matt Ents won multiple national championships at North Dakota State before he made a brief stop at USC. He was just there two years ago and he was good enough that he's got himself his own head coach and job at Fresno. He got to be very careful. In fact, there are multiple members of those former North Dakota state staffs that are potentially wreaking havoc, punching up this year before they go on to have major jobs themselves. So yeah, I'm keeping an eye on that one. And hey, look, this one's way off the radar and everyone's going to laugh at me. But if I told you butch Jones and the beleaguered Arkansas state red wolves

1:00:28were about to head east a little bit and take on Memphis. What would you think the line on the game is? If you haven't already checked, Memphis just beat you in LV. Charles Huff is the toast of college football rightfully so. And Arkansas state is who they've been. What would you think the number on that game is? What if I told you it's Memphis minus 11 and a half? Would you just start going, that smells weird. That smells a little funny, a little suspicious. Yeah, I don't have much of a breakdown for you on the Arkansas state side of things. I just know how this sport works. So that is a dangerous game as well. I'm going to wait for November either, Allen, although let's not get into bigger hurry. Because that means we just speed through the college football season. And this is the best time of year for us. But what is Allen talking about? Jesse, while he's talking about Marcel Reed earlier today, who said what everybody who is a competitor worth their salt should say, if being honest, about their rival. Show me the quote, Bradley. Earlier today, Marcel Reed, I think was asked about Texas. Do we not have the quote? I can paraphrase it for you. He said, I hate Texas. Can't stand them. They've beaten us twice, but they got to come here this year.

1:02:28And I'm looking forward to it. Now, you know, I can't say that on air. Hold on. Let me think. I'm flipping through my roll of decks of analogies in my head, but the first two I could never say on air. So I'm just going to keep it, you know, a little sanitized. And I'm going to say good for you, Marcel Reed. Let the hatred flow through your veins. Not on the street, but in the arena, in the competitive arena, this is in short supply. There's the tweet right there. I'm going to read it for you. Quote, we don't like Texas. I don't like Texas. It sucks that we've lost to them twice, but hey, they're coming here this year, so they're going to have to pay. I've got something for them for sure. Hey, general policy around here has always been, run your mouth as much as you want to, as long as you're running your mouth about someone, that you're eventually going to play. No one wants to hear you talk about people you're not going to play. If you're going to play them, be my guest. Run your mouth. Now, if I'm a PR coach, do I advise it?

1:03:30Probably not, but I don't care. You know, Johnny Mansell used to talk, but then he backed it up. So Marcel Reed, maybe he'll back it up this year. They got it to do. They got it to do because that is the day after Thanksgiving, last game of the regular season, but beyond that. Dude, I'm a very sore loser, and I don't think that's a terrible thing. I think there is a way to be classy in the way you lose a game, or lose a contest, or lose any competition, but I've never really liked the direction that high-level competitive sports have taken recently, where everyone just kind of makes sure you know, hey, you know, we're friends in real life. You can be friends down the road after you're retired and done with it. But when you're putting on that maroon, Jersey, or you got that burnt orange jersey on,

1:05:32you should feel complete and utter disdain. There should be an anger that kind of rises up inside of you a little bit because of what them wearing that Jersey means. I give all the credit in the world to Ohio State and Michigan because they have maintained this. That's why I think it's the best rivalry in college football because you could cut that stuff with a knife up there. That's what Marcel Reed's talking about. Just good old fashioned competitive hatred. That's how it should be. That's how it used to be. It could be again. You can question whether Marcel Reed's going to come through this year. And then we are going to back Eric Morris in his debut with Oklahoma State, because he still has one of the most experienced rosters in the country. And they're going to go down the road to take on Tulsa. And we are going to take Oklahoma State minus 13 and a half.
