5 a.m. I'm up with a crisp Celsius energy drink, running 12 miles today. Grab a green
juice, quick change, and head to work. Meetings, workshops, one more Celsius, no slowing down.
Working late, but obviously still meeting the girls for a little dancing.
Celsius, live, fit, go. Grab a cold, refreshing Celsius at your local retailer or locate
now at Celsius.com.
K-pop demon hunters, haja boys, breakfast meal, and huntrix meal have just dropped at McDonald's.
If they're calling this a battle for the fans, what do you say to that, Rumi?
It's not a battle. So glad the soldier boys could take breakfast and give our meal the
rest of the day.
It is an honor to share.
No, it's our honor.
It is our larger honor.
No, really, stop.
You can really feel the respect in this battle.
Pick a meal to pick a side.
Buh, buh, buh, buh, buh.
I participated in McDonald's while supplies last.
Welcome back to the best of the run of home.
Let's go here and I'm with Fletch and we went north of the border to sports day with
Rat and Toots.
As we chat with mates, so let's head north of the border to check in with Rat and Tootsie.
Hey, gone boys, it's scope solo at the moment, but here comes Bear's Head.
Oh, nice.
Nice of him to join.
Thanks for joining us, Fletch.
Yeah, we're going good, mate.
We're going good up here north of the border.
Well, actually, my co-host is sitting here in a chronic shark's jersey and a shark's
hat.
Because I kicked his butt in a supercatch this week.
Oh, yeah.
What was the score, boys?
Would you get?
Because I bounced back to Rat.
Yeah, I bounced back big time.
I just got 13.97.
Nice.
Big jump from the 12.50.
Oh, 1,050.
I got last week.
I had 11.85, I think, with 16 men.
I forgot to take Hobgud out.
My weekend was over.
My weekend was over, 30 night.
I was like, don't give me a crap shark jersey on Thursday night.
I told Rat that.
Who was it?
Captain's boys.
Painhouse.
Oh, that was a good boy.
I had clear ears in my captain.
Oh, beautiful.
Yeah, nice one.
I had Herbie Farnworth.
How'd it go?
What's the captain get?
Double.
Double.
I want to get involved.
I want to get involved with you, Derrick.
Yeah, let's go.
Let's start a little crew now.
Okay.
I'm sure we can figure it out.
Fletch, have you got a team?
Are you in anything?
No, I've got my nothing.
I mean, nothing.
I was just talking to the guy.
It's a lot of fun.
You get a bit caught up in it.
Yeah, consumed.
I'm off the drink till the 17th of April.
So this might work in nicely.
Perfect.
Hey, boys, why so specific?
Because that's my birthday is the 12th.
And the 17th is when everyone,
all my golf gang is available to play golf.
And then we get alongs.
I'm going to miss the Wongs golf.
And the losers.
Well, the top two, the best team doesn't have to pay.
Yes, right.
So we draw it out of that.
I love it.
I met you a golf group.
Oh, yes.
Oh, yes.
Hey, boys, did you see over the weekend?
Do you all have air pots?
Oh, yeah.
Yep.
So apparently we've been wearing them in correct way.
Oh, I saw that.
So I tried it today.
Yep.
You know, they're a little, yeah.
Feedback.
Unbelievable.
It's more comfortable.
But I haven't tried it while on the phone.
I've only listened.
I was not listening to a podcast.
What do you mean?
Well, I couldn't have had you anywhere.
So you're putting it up the other way.
I have vertical up in your ear.
So you've got your ear hole.
You know how the ear can out.
Yeah.
And they, but the little piece that comes off it usually goes down.
Yeah.
Where you tuck it up inside your ear up the top.
So it's pointing.
Yeah.
No, I got you.
I thought it was all a G up.
And it works.
And it works.
He's better.
Well, it's just, it's more solid.
It stays in there.
Try it, boys.
Try it for me.
Well, I need to because my ears are that big.
Nothing stays in there.
So I need something to hold them in.
Try it, try it.
Right.
Actually, it works really well.
Now, mainly boys.
There's a stat.
I need 20 coaches is here.
I need 20.
Yeah.
Only 20% of teams since 1998 have,
with the start of zero and two have made the finals.
So the Broncos.
Broncos are involved.
Yeah.
So if you were a punter.
If you're a punter, chances are you're about to lose.
You've got an 80% chance, or just under 80% 70,
or chance that the bit might salute.
If you're back to them not to make the day.
But getting back to mainly thoughts, tuts.
Little bit disappointing.
I didn't, I didn't catch the whole game.
I was actually, I was, I had my debut called last night with,
with Mark Brabrick and Cos up there on the,
the golfers and tights.
Beautiful.
So I jumped it up there.
So I didn't catch a lot of the game.
I was obviously disappointing.
I've seen a few of the results.
And I think the main part they'd be disappointed with obviously
leaking a lot of those points,
but they, they put a lot of them on.
Well, they held them off, I guess,
without Kaelin and Dylan Brown.
So yeah, look, it's disappointing for me.
They're the obvious one.
The glaring rumours when Ruben Garrick made a break.
And there was no one at dummy half.
No one went in 20 or 30.
You know, I think Sab was there and then turned around and ran
back to the wing.
And sort of no one else was there to help him out.
I think that was probably one of the glaring ones.
But they got to buy this week.
So they'll re-gather and then get the two point.
Get off the nudie running.
I got off the board.
Not against Chuk's.
Yeah.
One of my favorite round five.
Tutsi, I called the game on Friday.
The Warriors versus your Raiders, right?
And look.
It was tough weekend.
It was a strange old game.
I thought the Raiders were right in it
and almost looked like they were dominating the game
except for just on the school board.
And then the Warriors just went Wushka
and the second half and kicked away.
The Warriors are legit.
I've done the Warriors last two weeks.
The Warriors are legit this year.
I think they are.
They put 40 on the roosters and the Raiders in consecutive weeks.
And two sides that I had.
We had them fighting at the Grand Final.
Those two sides.
So yeah, I think they are.
I had them not playing finals this year.
I'm going to have to reassess that half of six weeks.
I think we'll be changing our comp.
So yeah, you had them 14.
Yeah, well, you didn't have much better.
Yeah.
Oh, he tries to get everyone turning against me.
He tries to get everyone turning against me.
You're going to have to count the game.
It's a little awkward.
It's a little awkward.
It's a little awkward.
It's a little awkward.
It's a little awkward.
I went to Logan yesterday.
Actually, I was a big lawyer.
Yeah.
Look, they were outstanding.
Yeah, they started well.
The boys, they miss Big Puppa.
Yeah, throughout the middle part of that game,
I thought.
Just had stability around the middle.
And yeah, the Warriors, that was just too good.
It didn't really feel like the game was ever getting too far away from the Raiders.
But you're right.
They just kept scoring on every 10 minutes there in the second half
and just sort of rolled away with it in the end.
Where did you have Penra finishing YouTube boys in your...
I would have got a second.
Second and third.
I've got to run a second.
I've got a third.
I made it.
Probably changed it now.
I've got to say it.
I think Nathan Cleary's gotten better.
Yeah.
He's made one error in two games.
He's kicked the life out of both teams.
He's...
He's not doing...
He's just looks amazing.
He looks as good as I've ever seen.
Maybe better.
Yeah, I just...
And good things.
He's comfortable.
Sharks and the Broncos of who they've beaten up on.
Not just anyone.
So...
And defensively, they've let him one try in two weeks.
They've sent in a bit of a shockway through the...
Through the narrow alley boys.
What about that short dropout that he did?
It looked like he put a...
It's looked like a new...
A new dropout...
Like, because he put a little bit of a banana bend on it right at the end.
So it was that low trajectory one that stubs across the ground.
But it looked like it went away from Jesse Ramyon at the last minute.
And just knowing, like, watching him over the years.
If it was someone else, I'd go, oh, he might have flicked that.
But it's one of those ones when you seem to do it like...
He's figured out and you kick somehow.
Oh, I'm going to ask you this rat.
Where he is now.
I mean, he's 27, 20.
How's he got a better kicking game than the 8th of mortal?
Oh, wow.
Now encompass goal-kicking, encompass skill goal in general play.
Yeah, it's your kick.
Actually, no, you're right.
Yeah, I think you might have.
I think so too.
You know what I think he does.
Like, you think of all the good players it could be a mortals, like in the past.
I don't reckon any of them stand out, like Nathan stands out at the moment.
Oh, Joey.
Joey, don't.
Oh, no, no, no.
No, I'm talking about...
Oh, I'm talking about...
Oh, I'm talking about that Arna Mordor.
Got you.
That we talk about, like the Brett Kenney's and, you know, the lot.
Brett Kenney was an amazing player, but he was surrounded by superstars.
Yeah.
And I know Nathan has got some stars around him, but far out of here.
He was a kick there on the way, candy done as well.
And it was like Cooper-Cronk used to do it where you'd go square at the line, and it brings
the wingers in.
And all of a sudden, you turn, just hook it flat towards the corner post.
Oh, yeah.
Jenkins was a little bit out of place.
He was just in off the sideline.
And I think the common data thought it was a bad kick, but he knew exactly where it was
going.
And Jenkins was only a little bit out of position.
And it was Cooper-Cronk used to do it all the time.
He'd square up and everyone had to move in.
And then he just turned and kick a flat one across.
It's such a good play.
Yeah.
You can't feel the spray too, Tuti.
Yeah.
Everyone thought it was a bad kick, but he sprayed the winger.
He knew exactly where the ball was going, and the winger was just a little bit out of position.
Yeah.
Hang on, boys.
You know, my iPod, airpods little thing.
You're off your headfledged.
They don't work.
Nah, bear's head.
That's crap.
Josh says, just tuck my airpods in.
It's going to be a game changer for running.
See, this one.
I hang on, Fledge.
You put the right, pod on the, in the left ear.
No.
No, no, no, no, no, no.
No, Anthony.
You get them.
You stick them vertical, and you jam them.
Jam that bastard right into that little crevice above your ear.
He's jamming my crevice right now, boys.
I don't know how you're about to jam.
It's only quarter to five, too.
I don't want to go to state.
Because I've tried to run with those airpods in before, and they, like Rat was saying before,
they just fall out, so do you reckon if I run with these upside down, they're going to hang on?
Try it.
Just try it.
I can't wait.
Hey, boys, did anyone get fined on the other night?
I know they pinned a few guys to the ground.
Yeah, I know how the sun had passed them.
Jesus, I run lucky those bugs.
I didn't get it.
Oh, one guy was no joy for them.
One guy was no joy for them.
One guy was no, what's the deal?
Yeah, one guy was streaked.
Hey, what have been a rooster's fan?
No doubt.
One guy was streaked, so they can't.
Surely they can't do it.
Well, I mean the press...
Well, I've got no problem with this.
Yeah, I've got no problem with how I get in there, I know everyone's saying,
it's not about him, but he's...
That's a big moment for HA, having the Prime Minister come down to scene.
That's as big for him as anything.
Boys, can you help me out?
Yes, can you help me out?
We're about to do Michael's and A Grades later, and I'm considering Albo for A Grades,
but we are going to go live on Fox Sports and KO, so be careful.
I've got to be committed to it, don't I?
Yes, too.
Oh, you do.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
I'm not turning him in the A Grade.
I think he...
You know, like I said, it's not about...
It wasn't really that obvious.
It wasn't about AJ.
Like I'm not a fan of him at all, but it's good for AJ, so I'm okay with that.
But don't you think like he's using his power to get on the field?
I do that any time.
No, no.
Right, save it for after.
I use anything to try to get...
Look at Rat.
Look at you.
You would peel off.
You would peel off boys.
Yeah, Tutsi, how are we going to speak to him?
By the way, Tuts, well done last week, my men.
Oh, yeah.
2017-01.
Oh, well.
2017-01.
Yeah, 2017-01.
Oh, man.
Yeah, didn't we?
We cheered that last year.
It was good for the loyal listeners, mate, because I've had a bit of negative feedback
over the last couple of weeks.
That's good.
That's a positive vibe.
Do they slide into your DMs, Tuts, do they?
No, it hasn't been too bad.
No, it hasn't been too bad.
I tell you what, they slide into our both our DMs.
You did afterwards.
And the show's DMs after the winner.
There was a lot of happy cameras.
Yeah, it was a beauty.
But are you getting nervous here for Friday?
I'm trying not to, mate, to be honest.
No, I haven't really thought too much.
You know, your draw comes out tomorrow, so...
So then you'll know who the drivers are, you need to go and speak to?
Which is very pleasant.
I don't know what I'm going to do with that, mate.
Hopefully we don't have to worry about that.
We just get a nice draw and find the front and it's all over.
Yeah, look, it's going to be a cracking wake.
We can forward to it.
Welcome back to the best of the run home.
It's Cooper's classic match up this week.
We did Panthers vs. Roosters and chatted about fat,
Freddie, Fettler.
It's career at both clubs.
That came as a surprise, considering Brad Fettler,
was signed by the Roosters during the offseason
the Australian captain.
There he is.
Penra to bond on.
And I'm told loving it.
Back at the scrum 13 on his back today.
Played now by Smith in Roosters.
Looking for a try in front of the sirens.
Fettler gets behind them and away from them.
The Australian captain scores.
And he's first match with his new club.
30 points to 10.
Nice little move from the Roosters here.
Obviously a clean one.
They come to the left hand side.
Tommy's room.
Switch of play.
And then another switch of play up the middle of the rock
behind him doing point.
And it was Brad Fettler.
And Shaji Streak.
He's defended down low just at the one hand,
but he's never going to be enough to hold on to Fettler.
Yeah, there we go.
Bear said, Brad Fettler made his day move for the Roosters.
After signing from the Panthers,
the clash coming up tomorrow night as well.
Freddie also went on the footy show back in 1996.
And this is him sitting down with Fettie and Stoa.
It's a decision that's taking your months to make.
How long ago did you make it?
Probably made it three months ago, did you?
It's a bit of a tough situation.
The situation I've been a pinner of say.
It was pretty touchy, you know.
What was the final say in the whole matter?
Mainly it was in there at the change for a long, long time.
Tell us why you decided to go to the Roosters.
Well, it was between a million.
It was two strong clubs.
I got so big.
I got so big.
I think Clevver's going to play with about 50,
so there's not much room over there.
So, you know, at least I've played on a gas before,
and he's a great catcher.
So I've gone close.
I think, you know, I'm going to look so going to buy a comp.
Hey, good start.
He told me his story once.
When he was choosing where to go,
and Kerry Packard rings him up.
And he goes,
Protein is now at Starbucks,
and it's never tasted so good.
You can add protein, cold foam to your favorite drink,
or try one of our new protein lattes or matcha.
Try it today at Starbucks.
Didn't he carry his office?
He walks in.
You know, how old is he?
How old is he?
He's 23.
He was 100, he was 100 and 19 games into a penance tree.
He started 17, didn't he?
Yeah, he's about 119 kilos.
So, he came in.
He told me his story.
So, Kerry, he was obviously,
they were trying to, to warm over the chalks,
and he walks in and Kerry's office.
Quite, obviously, intimidating.
Kerry Packard's in there,
and he's got his feet up on the desk,
and Freddie walks in,
and he's shy.
He'll keep it in a pair.
And Kerry's got a smoke, having a smoke.
Probably a whiskey down.
He says,
what do you reckon takes the winner comps on?
And that Freddie went,
oh, I don't know.
You know, he's thinking,
oh, you know, local juniors and, you know,
who'd coach and fit and all that.
Bullshit son.
Money.
What do you want?
No, the rest was history.
What's a player comp for Freddie in this day and age?
Like, teen sensation won a comp early.
There's not really anyone that you can compare to, right?
How I was Nathan.
100 games in.
But leaves.
You imagine how big of a story that would be now,
if you had someone win to the chalks.
Like a local junior goes and wins a competition early.
That's a place for Australia and New South Wales,
pretty much straightaway, didn't he as well?
Well, it was unusual.
Yeah, definitely.
But it was unusual because it was the super league,
ARL.
Like, yeah, that's,
that was the anomaly of it.
Yeah.
You needed to go to an ARL online club,
because there was so many, um, obviously big stories,
happening around that time that it probably, you know,
all got meshed up in, in all that.
Yeah, super.
Super league.
Yeah, gotcha.
He stayed loyal to the ARL.
So he had to getcha.
But you're right.
Yeah.
How old was Nathan when he was first?
Uh, it took nothing about five years, didn't it?
Four or five years?
He did.
Yeah, we'll be similar.
And to be similar to Freddie,
Nathan's first one,
if he had taken all of it,
he would have been similar age, 23.
I reckon if he had one at the Tigers,
Teddy, the comparison there,
it's going to the roost as winning premierships,
if he had one one at the Tigers,
you know, that would be a similar sort of scenario,
but he surely didn't.
Yeah.
Uh, well, is it equivalent to pain ass sort of?
Yeah.
Similar.
Not a local junior,
but he's been there a long time.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Starting out the club as a teenager,
and that was big wins.
When's the competition?
Uh, Freddie won it early, didn't he?
Like Freddie would have won it in his first or second year.
89.
Yeah, 91.
91.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So he was 19 to 19.
Wow.
That's crazy.
Uh, would have been all over 360.
Big news.
He certainly, he certainly enjoyed himself.
I think Mick told his story.
So we invite, because we'll,
Mick and I, Mick and Teddy and I,
we'll play in 21s at the time.
Mm-hmm.
And we just threw it out there.
We said, oh, we're going to,
we moved into the Razer Bay podcast.
And, um,
as you do,
you have a housewarming,
and we put it out to all the,
to everyone in the club.
Yeah.
Because you got to remember,
back in those days,
you were all trained together.
So,
21s reserved grade first grade.
You're all,
you see each other.
It was always club night.
Oh, gotcha.
Gotcha.
And so we just threw it out there,
said, oh, we're having a, um, party at
the Paul Chaos if anyone's keen.
Anyway.
Freddie rocks up.
We didn't expect Freddie.
He was the only first grade of the turner.
And all my mates are sitting there going,
oh, my God.
It's Fred Fiddler.
And he's ready five,
five years into his NREL career.
It was captain of Australia.
And he was sitting in the,
he was sitting in a two-bedroom joint
on South Head Road.
We go, uh, hi.
Freddie, yeah, come in.
We had no food.
We had nothing.
But you had to bring your own piss.
That's awesome.
Yeah, looking at this 96 roster,
gents, Ivan Cleary,
Darren Juney, Matt Sing,
Peter Clark, Peter Jorgensen,
father of Maxi.
Maxi.
Andrew Walker, Adrian Lamb,
Jason Lowry, Sean Garlic,
Terry Hermenson, Phil Clark,
the English legend.
Yeah.
Brad Fiddler, Ben Duckworth,
Johnny Simon, Paul Dunn.
Paul Dunn.
Jimmy Smith,
Frank Krasher,
Rico Tony Aero,
Scott Logan, Shane Warrit,
Mick Osteany, Shane Riggand,
Shane Millard,
Darren Maroon,
like some interest.
A bit of a melting pot there.
Yeah.
Well, that was from the hangover.
That was when Gus came in.
And then the next year,
Gus just went berserk
and just cut everyone.
Like it was.
Who were the big cuts that he...
Well, the Super League bikes got...
Gotcha.
Like Jorgo had to go play reserve grade.
Yeah.
He went to Penn as a...
Yeah.
Andrew Walker just...
The Michael at everything.
Mate.
Well, we talk about Ricky Stewart-Bombs.
Yeah.
Like he sort of invented the torpedo.
Yeah.
Andrew Walker's the best I've seen.
Yeah.
Like he's up there with Burton.
Yeah.
But the talent he had,
he was just doing things on the run.
Yeah.
Like you're playing outside him.
He could just do some...
It's just unfortunate.
He had a little bit of injuries.
But was he a bit rotsy just around training?
No.
No, he got injured.
Just got injured.
He got injured a fair bit.
I'm not a fair bit.
But when he did an injury,
it was pretty bad.
He's easily the most talented...
Like I've ever seen.
I feel like everyone...
Every time I speak to someone from that era,
who they always...
It's always Andrew Walker.
You always hear like Maddie and Joey
will always speak about Andrew.
Oh, he was a freak.
Yeah, absolutely.
If you look at the next years,
we'll start brought in a few more origin stars.
You had David Barnhill.
You had Scotty Goulet.
Jack Ellsgood came in.
Yeah.
You had Dale Sheerer there as well.
Yeah, well.
So there was quite a few...
Like, origin players...
No, it hadn't played origin
that they'd come into the club.
Yeah.
So it was a bit of a transition.
It wasn't a flinch.
Yeah.
Because the 80s and 90s,
the chuck struggled.
Yeah, early 80s into the 90s.
And then Freddie was sort of the...
Cattle was big signing.
The marquee signing.
They needed to the build.
And then have that amazing run of grand finals.
Yeah.
2000s.
Well, then again, that's your right
with the Teddy Comp then.
Because when Teddy arrived,
the first year they got the...
Yeah.
They were competition and started winning
at the Ross Institute.
Yeah.
He was...
Oh, this one here.
Kim says, Andrew Walker signed a raid
of putting up tall photo bombs before Joey.
Yeah, he...
Like, Sticky was the first one
really to all those big...
Both rugby unions.
That's what it come from rugby unions.
Yeah.
And Ricky was the first,
but then Andrew Walker perfected it.
Is that what you're saying?
Perfected and could...
Well, no.
Put it higher.
I reckon you could put it higher.
Yeah.
Like, Sticky was pretty accurate.
Do you think Gus, like with Galvan,
like bringing him to the Bulldogs,
it's sort of a similar thing
with seeing this prodigy as an 18, 19-year-old,
bringing him to the dogs.
I know the dogs are in a bit of a different situation
of what the chucks were in 1996.
Yeah.
But is it, like, this young guy, like, trying to...
Similar.
But I like, you compare them at the same age.
Like, for Gus to come out,
I know Gus was just...
It was sort of...
What's the...
What are the kids...
Glazing?
Kids' glazing?
Glazing, yeah.
Saying about Lucky Galvan's the best schoolboy I've ever seen.
Like, Freddie at the time.
Yeah.
Freddie's doing things.
Lucky Galvan's a great player.
Yeah.
He may well be one of the greatest.
I mean, I get to beat Freddie at that.
But at the...
Freddie was the best.
He nailed it to try it away, Freddie.
Oh.
Like, he once tried it away, didn't he?
That day boo at...
I think it's when they're playing West.
When he goes...
He scores two tries.
Left foot, left foot.
Chip and Chase.
He scores.
I...
I don't think...
I think Freddie's the best kid I've seen.
The...
The interview with...
Yeah.
Schoolboy.
Yeah.
The interview with, uh, with Freddie there on the footage show.
Um...
There's a lot of Loughlin Galvan about that now when he has interviews.
Oh yeah.
You know, like the nervous...
You're like...
No.
Because you start when you start so young and you get interviewed as kid
and there's all this pressure.
That's how sort of Lucky sounds when you hear him.
Did you get...
Speak as well.
Did you get...
Speak as well.
Did you get...
Did you get...
Speak as well.
Did you get...
Speak as well.
Yeah.
I was 14, I reckon 14 and 15, yeah.
My last couple of years in the NRL, that's when it started become more prominent.
We started to get more media training, uh, social media training.
Right.
About, you know, the pitfalls of what social media could be getting in trouble.
I think...
Do we talk about the story where they had the, uh, the burner account?
Yes.
That one.
Yeah.
So all that sort of information, that's when the ROPA sort of started to become...
Like legit.
Strong.
Yeah.
Strong.
Yeah.
Strong.
Yeah.
And the players like, there's really no excuse for, uh...
Oh, this one here.
Guys, I think you are...
Yeah, Johnny Pied used to do the bomb, but we were talking about the torpedoes.
Torpy bomb.
Torpy bomb.
And Anki...
Andrew Walker could do the reverse torpedo.
Yeah.
So he'd kick it from the inside of his shoe.
Like the inside of his shoe.
Yeah.
Yeah.
You know, they kick on the outside for it to go clockwise.
He could make it go anti-clockwise.
See, that's what Nath does.
And when he puzzles, uh, the right wing is for teams.
So Cionic Tawa.
Oh, you mean those floaters, like things?
Yeah.
The floaters kicks it from the inside of his foot now and just destroys wingers.
Poor, um...
I was a, um...
Sorcery...
No.
Sorcery Sorcery was at the back end of his career.
Oh, I remember.
No, Wonga Blake.
Wonga Blake.
Remember that?
Yeah.
He went through a final series in two final series where...
I think the wingers end up finish up.
Yeah.
Well, they...
They were nicknames in Wonga Blake, because he...
Welcome back to the best of the run home.
We had a bona fide content creator, influencer, whatever you want to call him.
Colin Takers is the Mickey.
You're obviously just like...
Are you lefty?
I'm lefty as well.
Okay, so...
Have you know that?
Just the way he was holding his clothes?
Oh, that's all you got you.
Yeah.
Very observant.
Yeah, lefty, man.
So this journey between you two, where are we going to be able to follow this?
Um, you can get it on the YouTube channel.
Yeah.
So we're going to be...
We've got to figure out exactly what it looks like.
I've got to figure out how many shots I'm going to give him.
So we've got...
We're going to be doing a different series each.
Are you trying to break 90 or 100?
I mean, I'm just trying to hit the ball.
Just trying to hit the ball.
So he's got to work his way up to a certain criteria.
Yeah.
And there's going to be...
Paul Golf is going to be following the journey.
We've got Ricky in here as well.
He's going to be following me.
I'm going to try to break 80 myself.
Legitimate that.
Well, I've done it.
Yeah, but not at a 72-par course yet.
All right.
So I've got a little asterisk next to my breaking 80.
And so I want to...
I want to break it legitimately.
And then we've got to come up with something we're meant on compete against.
Yeah, that'll be fine.
Like I might give him 18 shots, for example.
I think that's fair, Bear said.
Right.
I give him a shot on every hole.
And maybe a little bit of match play between each other.
Yeah, listen, I was on the course today.
And two paths today.
Oh, that's pretty good.
Two paths.
And we're not going to get a handicap as yet.
We're going to work towards it.
I'm just going to work towards it.
Yeah, I'm going to work towards it.
I'm going to just kind of keep getting out on the course.
I think one of the things that I was struggling with was going to the range too much.
And then course is completely different.
Yeah.
We're running on a treadmill.
Yeah.
And then running on the street.
It's just not the same game.
And now you're in Australia.
What we like to do is drink beer while we play golf and gamble.
Yeah.
You guys are big drinkers.
I'm going to say that.
I mean, I thought we'd drink back in England.
I came here and I was like, you guys do.
We've done our magic round together.
Oh, I can't.
Yeah.
We drank plenty.
We drank plenty.
That's stuff.
I'd imagine.
Now just back to the sock up.
Yes.
Is it coming home?
Is it coming home this year?
Yes.
And I never say it.
What?
I never say it until we hit the round of 16.
And then you can start to believe this kind of thing.
Maybe you might not get to the round of 16.
No, no, we'll get to the round of 16.
Trust me.
Trust me.
Great young team.
You've always been to your soccer tool.
Yeah.
We both played in the Super League.
So we know what the Premier League is like over there.
Oh, yeah.
That's different level.
Live and breathe it.
In England, there's just like, there's nothing else.
What group are you in?
Chelsea.
Are you saying like, what football team?
No, no, no.
Like the group for the World Cup.
What's England in?
Like, is it a tougher group?
Yeah.
No, I don't think it's a crazy group.
It's not the group of death.
No.
There's always a group of death, isn't it?
No, it's not a crazy group.
Like, we definitely should make it out of that group.
Right.
Okay.
Well, nine times out of ten England expect to make it.
I actually took, to be honest, I love it when you guys get knocked out.
Oh, why?
I just like it because you always sing that song.
And there's always footage of you guys going, this is it.
This is the year.
Was it 66 the last time you went?
Well, not, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
That would have been, I wouldn't have been alive.
That's true.
But we've come close.
And I've come close.
We love it.
We love it when you just fall the last hurdle.
I will say about Australia.
They are one of the dark horses I will still watch out for.
They've got some good players.
Oh, well.
Really good players.
It's like young players this year.
I'm hoping that he doesn't play the older guys.
I'm hoping he plays the young guys.
They've got coming up.
Really good players.
What about the kid?
Might I've been in a Pell's office as well.
You got everything in there.
It's the mark where you can go in there.
You can pick the different clubs and brands.
Have you selected a, did you end up going with one particular one?
Yeah, I've ended up going with the, the, the calories.
Oh, plug.
Yeah, I've ended up going with the calories.
Can we share it out?
That's the club of my choice.
I mean, it doesn't really get better than that does it.
Are you a member anyway?
Oh, no, I'm going to hand it out.
Where do you like to play then?
Well, in terms of golf.
Yeah.
I know that I've been playing Willara.
Oh, yeah.
That's my course.
That's my course.
That's my course.
Yeah.
You got there a few times.
The, the, the, uh, the greens have been called.
These are neighbors usually.
Yeah.
Well, that's why you should be going for the chooks.
That's why you should be going for the chooks.
I do like the chooks.
I like them better when Joey Mining was there.
But it's still, you know, it's still got some good guys.
How do you know Joey?
Me and Joey, we've actually got a, uh, uh, rap song together.
What?
Can we go to play?
We need to get that now.
That's on you.
We need this.
I've seen the boys with Joseph and he was doing it with all them.
Oh, yeah.
That was his crew.
Yeah.
Well, it wasn't a bad song.
It was cool.
It was cool.
Brown paper bags for nothing.
Yeah.
Something like that.
Yes, we do with the song.
It's on Spotify.
Yeah.
It was you, Joey.
Do I both Joey?
No.
Me and Joey just had a song together.
Me and him.
And they had an album with those boys.
Gotcha.
So they had actually an album.
So yeah.
So I'll eat it.
What's he, um, he's been in contact with me.
He's still in Japan.
He's still in Japan.
Still in Japan.
I'm trying to get him to come back, to be honest.
Well, this was what the room was.
It's the room.
The room is worth it.
He'll be because the Japanese competition finishes about.
Yeah.
I heard that one.
So it was always about, right?
I will let him go over his two years and come back.
And he might play the back end of the year, which may be.
Have you found, so, um,
Fletcher was talking about the football audience is clearly in Australia.
Followed you over to rugby league.
Yeah.
Embrace you.
The paramatter yields, friends of embrace you.
How is the golfing community very early?
Have they embraced you?
You know what?
It's funny because I didn't think, when I started posting golf content,
because I'm one of them people where, whatever I'm doing, I'm just going to post it.
Yeah.
If I'm snowboarding, if I'm MMA, whatever I'm doing, I'm just going to post it.
But I did, I didn't know I had so many of my community that I actually were golfers as well.
Like, it, my reply is to my stories and like, it's things like that.
A lot of my community, I was like, I didn't know you guys were playing golf.
I didn't tell them.
Yeah.
You know what I mean?
Yeah.
Should have done it earlier.
Yeah.
I want the guy that got me my first ever lesson before I power off everything.
He was just a guy that replied to us saying, hey, but I'll just give you a little lesson,
just give you two or three tips.
And I was like, all right, cool, come down and we just, that was it.
So this is your full-time job, content creator?
Yeah, I've been content creator for about three, three, four years.
Oh, okay.
If I close my eyes, I feel like I'm the set of top boy.
I knew you were going to sit top.
Yeah.
I thought you were better than that, man.
Okay.
Can you just say, what do you want a bit of rock and roll or snow?
No.
No.
No, it's, it's, it's my man.
Who was my man?
My man.
My man.
My man.
My man.
My man.
My man.
My man.
My man.
My man.
My man.
My man.
By the way, boys, England are playing Croatia, Ghana and Panama.
That's the World Cup.
So that's there.
I'll take that back.
Croatia.
Croatia.
Yeah, they're pretty tough.
They're all the last two World Cup's going.
Don't slip on Croatia.
Yep.
Croatia, Ghana, they'll be legit as well.
And Panama.
Panama.
That's actually, now I think that's actually a really tough group.
Yeah, it's actually a big group.
What do we got?
You got, you got, you got, you got, you got, you got, it's up to Australia.
We got a Denmark.
I'm pretty sure we always played dead.
You guys have definitely got USA.
Because you have said, that's right.
That's right.
USA, actually, like, really killed Australia.
That's right.
And they said it was going to be an easy win.
That's right.
We're going to put that up in the locker room.
The Acc said it was going to be an easy win.
That would have been an a grade nomination, wouldn't it?
I think we've already done that.
Yep.
Who's your favourite Eagles player?
Eagles player.
I do.
Oh, it's hard to name one.
I would say, you're probably going to have everyone Mitch Moses
always had Mitch Moses.
Yeah.
He likes his golf.
Yeah, he does like his golf.
I was in the boys they have a week.
So I love Jones, Bailey.
You got to join our golf day at the end of the year, too.
Oh, yeah.
We did a level scoff day.
Level scoff day.
We're going to get involved in as well, too, this year.
Would you guys know we play at Concord?
The world moves fast.

Skope, question might.
Oh, look, we've got to fit in.
We're working things out.
I'm not too sure how the partnership's going to work,
but I've seen the product.
I've seen the product.
I'm sure you can figure something out.
Welcome back to the best of the run home.
Skopey and Fletcher.
And we caught up with Melbourne Younggun, Joey Chan.
We're a very special guest.
He's a friend of the show and Mitchy.
Place it on the last.
Cheers.
Oh, yes.
Oh, so easy.
Joey Chan running off to Rome.
Here's filling the void.
There we go.
Audio from round one.
Returning to the run home.
Joe Chan from the Melbourne storm.
Thanks for joining us on the run home.
Appreciate it, please.
Thank you for me.
Bonjour.
Bonjour.
How's our friendship?
How was our friendship?
Listen, Skyne.
Because last time we spoke to you,
you were quite fluent, aren't you,
in the language of love?
I'm fluent enough.
Not that good, but I'm alright.
Are you practicing it again?
No, I went.
I don't really practice.
I'll just wing it and see how it goes from there.
Oh, I know.
But you were very good.
Just give me another little bit.
What do you want?
My name is Joseph,
and I love a croissant with butter and jam.
Hello, I'm Peugeot.
I like croissants with honey.
How was that?
The Michael.
I spent it.
So, Joe.
It's all about Joe.
No, I just want to ask how the old man's going.
He was over at the Cadillan Dragon's when I was over there.
Come on.
I was going to speak a little bit of French,
but now you've ruined it.
Joe, how's that?
How's that, mate?
How's the Cadillan Dragon started over there?
I know they've got a new coach.
Stevie Maxx no longer there.
How is the new regime going over there at the Cadillan Dragons?
I think it's going good.
I think Big Jolly Tonkins taken over.
That's right.
I think they're heading in the right direction.
But my dad's still good over there.
He's, I think, there's 10th year now over there.
The nice jobs of job sometimes you hate it,
sometimes you like it, but you guys are there.
Well, I'll tell you what, Joe, what you're loving.
You're loving that right edge.
You've made it your own.
Did you, like, obviously with, with Ellie Katawa being,
having a year off, did Craig say to you,
you're the next man in?
Or did you have to sort of,
did you have to sort of, I suppose, trial for it?
He sort of, I'll tell you the start of the,
he pulled me aside.
He said, you know, under the circumstances of what we are now.
The, the place is there for someone to take it.
It's just up to you if you want it.
So that sort of, you know,
I took it on board at the challenge and,
yeah, just sort of going on with it.
Yeah, well, you got the opportunity round one
and you guys have been excellent at the start of the season so far.
I met you. You've also got some audio.
You were given some feedback to an XT mate as well.
Peasant loses it forward.
And now the verbal continues.
Great work from the inside.
Just hunted in chain speed
and letting now about a certain form of Melbourne storm player.
Look at him.
Worrying in the face of Peasant for the chance.
Joey, were you just asking Jonah how he was going?
Let him know you miss him.
All the good stuff.
I just don't know what that was.
Oh, to quite honest,
I still don't know what I thought of the game.
I was thinking how stupid of me.
Just a lot of motions on the line.
And so I think what sort of pulled me over the edge was the play before
when someone pushed Jack and then we sort of went in.
I just sort of took it like that in the wrong way.
But nothing gets pezzed.
Nothing by love for him.
But unfortunately he came to him.
But yeah, sort of.
Yeah, looking at it.
It's sort of embarrassing just looking, you know,
it's pretty childish when we're doing something like that.
But yeah.
Was there a lot of motion going into that game?
Because you know, all the chat was, you know,
more so off-field.
And there was all the rumors with Zach Lamax
and the two clubs were going at each other.
Did that sort of just ball over in that moment?
Or I'd imagine you're great mates of Jonah
and it's always good to get one over an ex-team mate too.
Yeah, you know, we'll just,
we sort of just address the elephant in the room,
you know, like the media talking about,
you know, our situation outside of the,
our control.
And we sort of just addressed it and gone on with it.
And with pezz, you know, just,
yeah, like I said before,
it was just me looking at it.
And now it's just quite silly what I've done.
But you know, it's a contact sport.
And everyone's, you know,
you know, it's kind of,
everyone's competing.
Sorry.
Yeah.
Just stupid thing.
One of the idea for sure.
Hey, Joey, just tell us about this.
So you've been, you've been down there,
Melbourne Storm for a few years now.
This round one,
this remarkable record of round one.
Is it spoken about?
Because I, I mean, every year we say,
this could be the year where Craig's going to vote.
But you, not only win,
you invariably put,
we put 50 on paramedics.
Does he make a big deal of it?
Uh, I feel like it doesn't,
but he, like, it's sort of,
like the environment around the room,
like, everyone knows, like, you know,
he hasn't lost in so long.
And we don't want to sort of learn down.
And do the week.
I think we're,
we all walk on eggshells trying to,
like,
try and be perfect at training
and hopefully he comes to the game.
But he doesn't really address it.
He just sort of, you know,
address it as, you know,
it's our backyard.
No one,
no one goes through us through our backyard.
You know, like the feeds I said at home.
You sort of just said that.
Uh,
but obviously you have to think about it
because it was like 24 years now.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
23 of it.
23 of it.
What are it?
It's a remarkable record.
And the round one,
this year,
that's the biggest winning margin you've had.
So, um,
you're,
you're better at it.
You're getting better at it.
What about after last year's grand final?
Did you have a bit of a debrief
about the, like,
when you got back to training
or, um,
was it straight after the grand final
or week after
or Craig didn't even touch it.
Um,
I think from memory,
um,
we sort of touched on it,
and then we sort of
spoke about and come to terms
with what,
what happened,
what went wrong,
um,
and what our work on
at the start of the preseason,
which I think
put us in the,
you know,
our best foot forward, you know,
um,
we acknowledge what,
what really went wrong.
I feel that grand final.
Um,
but, you know,
at the end of the day,
like,
it's a game we lost,
and we just,
we're striving to get better each week,
and hopefully we can get a,
a different result at the end of the year.
Um,
that's everyone's, you know,
what we're all trained for.
So, yeah.
Yeah, there was, um,
disappointing news for,
for Sean Bloor.
He's been, uh,
similar to you, mate,
since the,
the club B was awesome last year.
Um,
it's opened up,
uh, more opportunities
for you and Artie Valu,
and apparently,
he went down early
in the New South Wales Cup game,
as well,
is he going to,
is he going to be out for a wild judge?
You know what the,
has anyone got an update on how
Sean Bloor's gone, mate?
Uh,
to be quite honest,
I have one,
I'm not too sure,
and two,
I don't,
I can't really comment on that,
like just because, you know,
the first,
first reason,
I don't know too much about it.
He's in high spirits,
um,
and he looks,
he looks to be all good
at the, um,
at the training.
Um,
but other than that,
I can't really comment on that,
to be caught on us.
That's all right.
Uh,
what about Sulfa Longay, mate?
He, uh,
he put on a clinic
in 20 minutes,
uh,
down there,
um,
Freakay.
Uh,
uh,
what's he like a training, uh,
he looks like he's a
bubbly character
around,
around the place down there in Melbourne as well.
Uh,
no, he's,
he's,
he's the man.
Um,
you sort of hear him before you see him.
That's for sure.
Um,
no,
just a ball of energy.
You know,
what you see on TV is what you get in person.
Obviously,
um,
it's quite shy when,
what about what to get to know him?
He's,
he's a character,
man.
But, you know,
on the field,
you can do, um,
when he has like the free,
just, you know,
the free,
you know,
the green light of do whatever he wants.
And like sometimes that training
just looks like that.
What,
how did he pull that off?
What about,
what about the young Victorian kids down there, Joe?
Like,
because he's a product of now,
the Melbourne storm being down there for a while.
I think he's the first,
or one of the,
you know,
one of the first couple of Victorian plays
to come through the system.
Are there,
is it,
is it doing, uh, you know,
wonders for the pathways down there in Victoria?
I haven't,
so we're just thriving this year to start the season?
Oh, 100%.
You know,
the, you know,
young kids look up to him and like,
you know,
they want to try and put steps on like him, you know, like,
um,
but not him, you know,
you got, um,
you know,
young son of a peer back,
like back then,
they came through,
um, you know,
as Victorian as well.
Um,
and you know,
like,
the pathways for Melbourne is,
you know,
they,
they basically, you know,
they're five.
They still go to the games each week.
I know,
I saw those to the games,
um,
to the, you know,
local comps.
That's awesome.
But it's great to see the, you know,
the Melbourne,
the actual Melbourne itself,
progressing like that,
and then giving back,
um,
giving love to the,
you know,
to the communities,
as they were,
once were.
Um,
and that's good for them.
Uh,
Joey, you've got the Broncos this week.
I mean, everyone's, you know,
they're talking a bit out that you're going to lap them.
And if you look at the odds,
uh,
you are overwhelming favorites.
I'd imagine Craig's put a bit,
put a bit of,
a bit of a lid on it.
Um,
what are you worried about when you're playing this Broncos,
so it on Friday?
Um,
I think we're,
we're all worried of the,
of what we,
what we can expect, you know,
they're not,
they didn't win the grand final for nothing, you know,
like they're the team that won it last year,
like Fran Square.
Um,
and they,
yeah,
they beat us,
so we can, you know,
we can expect that team to show up, you know,
and we don't look at us at all.
They've been,
they've lost twice in a row.
You know,
it's just the start of the,
start of the year.
They might not have found the groove.
They might shop,
um, on game day and fun.
They're grooving.
It might be a real tough battle that we just,
hopefully,
they can match that and win that challenge.
Um,
but now we don't really think less,
we don't,
we don't ever think less of a team.
Craig just adjusted as one of those teams that is probably
going to flip the switch.
Most likely,
definitely going to flip the switch on us.
President Barack Obama.
Virginia,
we are counting on you.
Republicans want to steal enough seats in Congress to
raid the next election
and wield unchecked power for two more years.
But you can stop them.
By voting yes,
by April 21st.
Help put our elections back on a level playing field
and let voters decide
not politicians.
Vote yes,
by April 21st.
Paid for by Virginians for fair elections.
The Run Home with Joel & Fletch
