Wentz Returns to Vikings as QB Depth

The Minnesota Vikings have resigned better in quarterback Carson Wins, to a one-year deal.

This adds depth to their quarterback room, where Kyler Murray joined in free agency to

challenge JJ McCarthy for the starting job.

At 33 years old, Wins brings plenty of pro-experience back to Minnesota.

Last season, Wins started as McCarthy's backup before stepping in due to injury.

For five starts, the team went two wins and three losses.

He completed 65.1% of his passes for 1216 yards, six touchdowns, and five interceptions.

A shoulder injury from week five against the Cleveland Browns hampered his play.

He gutted it out for two more weeks before surgery sidelined him.

Earlier games showed his potential, with 69% completions, 253 yards per game, five touchdowns

to two picks, and a, 99.5 passer rating.

Now fully recovered, Wins figures to serve as a reliable backup.

Murray and McCarthy will compete head-to-head in training camp for the top spot.

The Vikings finished nine and eight last year, missing playoffs partly due to the quarterback

Shuffle.

Heading into his 11th NFL season, Wins holds a career record of 49 wins, 49 losses, and

one tie across 99 starts.

His overall passer rating sits at 89.1 as the former number two overall pick from North

Dakota State.
