What’s going on with Willson Contreras?

0:00I was Wilson and Travis before yesterday. Red Sox losing eight to three to the Mariners and apparently before he Jetset over to Europe, according to his Instagram. Could be an old picture. Could be an old picture. Yeah. I bet it was one of those. Let's watch this. I have a chance to go through the old photo log. Remember that one? So what's on his Instagram? He's just got the Eiffel Tower. Yeah. This morning. I saw Eiffel Tower. I saw it going around. Yeah, careful. I saw it going around in Twitter. So I went to his Instagram to see it. Yeah. Just picture of the Eiffel Tower. Hi. That's cool though. Okay. I mean, I mean, I'm used there maybe not. I'd like to travel more. So that's inspiring. Yes. You've been to, you've been to Espanya. 2:01be like, all right, well, if you can't run to first base, maybe take a day. He's like, no, I can play. I just can't run to first. And then if the fans boo me, we can yell out over it. It can turn into a whole thing. So he played a few games where like, should he be playing these games? And then you're kind of weighing the pros and the cons. You're like, all right, he can still smash a home run, but he's not going to be able to play like full go. But you're like, all right, if you want to be consistent with the team and have like sunny gray, get lined up and be ready to go. And you know, Garrett Whitlock maybe like, take some time. Wilson Contreras having a great season. You want to make sure you don't just get like, damage goods come playoff time. So I'm good with it. And yeah, it does seem like he has a pretty big say in it. But part of it's probably pain tolerance, right? So it's like he would be the only one that knows exactly how bad it is. So if he goes and talks to the team, he was like, look, this probably would be for the best that they agreed to put him on the IL. Okay. So that's Wilson Contreras. He's out for the time being, maybe out of the country. We'll see when he gets back in there and what he looks like.

3:02But they have not, they've not gotten enough out of him for a while. So get him right heading into the October. Like I got my head around skipping gray for a start. I can wrap my head around getting Contreras right. Like I'm okay with those things. Those are really important players for you. But I am worried about how much their foot is off the accelerator. However, here's a bit of good news from Chad Tracy yesterday. Garrett crochet getting close to throwing a bullpen. Here's we had to say about that. I think this weekend potentially will be gone. I think I'm going to check again. That depends on how he came in today. Like how did he feel coming off of that type of intentful mount catch? We'll see how he feels. But I think the goal would be to try to get like just a normal bullpen off the mound this weekend. Okay. Bullpen this weekend. Keep intentful mound catch. Hallelujah for that. 4:05low expectations for the season from as low as he's not going to throw a single pitch. Do you think he's on the playoff roster? No. Oh, really I do. I don't. I'm not. But like we're talking like an inning or two max. Like I don't know what he is. If you get the Yankees and you're going to get the Yankees, not if sorry to our caller earlier this hour, uh, when they get the Yankees, uh, a lefty like him against a really left handed lineup with the Yankees, that that's important. It would be really great. But I think you have to think about him as like a reliever for an inning at a time if that. So that's what I wonder is it worth the roster spot for him? Yes. No, no, let me map it out to start one game throw one inning and then a bulk hug and go the rest of the way. I don't know that I'd start him and easy. Okay. But is he available two nights in a row? That I don't know. So that's that probably not. That's would be my concern is like, if you're like, Hey, he's going to be like another Eric Miller. Okay. Great. That's definitely worth it. Put him in there. But it was like, well, he can only pitch game one and then he probably can't pitch again to the next series. They're like, Oh, like I don't know is that worth it.

5:08When the alternative is moron, I like the gamble constrictor. But like who are your lefties after Miller? I mean, Chapman Miller. Like that's true. And I guess in a three game series, like you can't afford to like lose it. You can't, you know, every single pitch matters. Roussini's relationship with Vrable was in clear violation of the athletic standards regardless of whether the relationship was romantic. Ooh, it was certainly that. It was a breach and should have been disclosed. All right, flowers. As for Roussini's coverage of Vrable, Semmel wrote, I've found, sorry, I've not found a clear link to conclude that Roussini used her platform to help promote Vrable or help his teams during her time at the athletic. I don't think you look very hard. All right, come on. Nothing to see here. That said, there are examples of Roussini writing glowingly of Vrable. No, weird. That in hindsight are awkward or even uncomfortable. Yeah, I think the most awkward thing ever was when Diana Roussini was interviewing

7:14Vrable last training camp and that out of nowhere was asking Vrable about his wife. Yeah, she's a good athlete. Is she? Why are you talking about her? And then knowing what we know now, you're like, that's insane that you brought that up. But it doesn't seem like, so this is like, I guess the conclusion of their quote unquote findings, relax there. Yeah, there are just nothing really new for us. They're excusing themselves. They're throwing Roussini under the bus. They're excusing themselves from anything. Oh, look, there's a nothing, nothing with the reports that came out were overly favorable. It's not like we had a reporter doing a solid for Mike Vrable in terms of helping him out or helping his team or giving his team an advantage, whether that comes to on the field or with a free agent, we didn't find any of that. Which of course they're not going to try to damage themselves anymore. They've already been damaged quite a bit by this story. Yeah, it says Semmel for the report reviewed 903 stories and 77 videos that contained Roussini's byline contributor line or mention of her reporting. Another 204 episodes of her podcast.

8:15Oh, this is this guy brutal. Now I have sympathy for me. I don't listen to 204 episodes of podcast. Yikes. Jesus ESPN said the athletic in New York Times declined to comment beyond the public report. And also this is I think maybe the most note worthy for Roussini declined to comment. Got it. So that to me would be the next time it really gets brought up again. Now I'm not saying they won't say anything about it at all Wednesday during the pregame show before the kickoff of the season. But I think as the season goes on, it doesn't have to be her saying something for you really get brought back up. Well, yeah, I mean again, outside of some explosive story. Yeah, no, I do think that's the case. The athletic began but they had no access to her phone. Okay, probably for the best. And the report. And the report was solely the report was solely focused on her publicly available reporting. So anything out there for public consumption, which I think most people on the internet have already gone through.

9:15I was going to say there was but this poor fell out to sit there for 204 episodes. Because his job was on double speed. Yeah, I would hope smart. The findings are the result of a nearly five month investigation that began after the New York Post published photographs of Roussini with Rable together at an adults only resorted. Oh, hubba hubba shortly after Roussini resigned shortly after which rather received a resign from the New York Times own athletic seemed kind of. I mean, I guess I understand why they did it like sort of like letter of the law type of thing. She was already gone from that job. Everybody already knows kind of what happened. There's been so many people that have pulled all these clips and all these stories. And like you can like did this really help Rable like I mean, you get into like coach of the year voting and stuff like that. Like I guess it could. But I don't know. I think people kind of for the most part saw what happened, heard what happened and I've kind of moved on from it. But I guess they just wanted to like, you know, close the book themselves on it. Yeah, I'm surprised they didn't wait till the Friday of Labor Day weekend. Like really news dump this thing close, but they were pretty close.

10:18So nothing in there it violated standards. Uh, but it was not advantageous to label in any way, shape or form. Of course, not. So anyway, that's the findings or non findings in that report.
