In case you missed it coming up in about 40 minutes here and then I am off to sweet vacay land for a full week
There you go. You know, it's good when Hacksaw called me before the show today
So we're going to Charlotte for the first part of this and said
I'm gonna be taking Monday and Tuesday off so I can hang with the Wilson family. That's when you know
in a
Poster fee are you going to have to do Boston accents the entire time? I'm having to do a Walberg or
Walberg at least once
Hey Nick, I think I saw it's way as former. So very excited for that. We do have a little news to pass along here Pete Damill
Tweeting out here in the last 15 minutes the NCAA's appeal to the Mississippi Supreme Court in the Trinidad
Chamberlain's eligibility case has been denied
Chocker that it didn't go for the Mississippi Supreme Court didn't side with the NCAA for the Ole Miss quarterback
He'll be eligible to play for Ole Miss in 2026
I think that's what's interesting is this does put another quarterback into the hopper for 2027
Yeah, I thought people were I'm not saying he's not gonna be a first round pick
I'm not gonna like he's a really good college player. I didn't necessarily look at him watch him and think
That's a top five pick no, but another year who knows what will happen to him right like if it's like you get two inches taller
If this last year put him at third-round projections on people
We have a second-round projections if he has one other good season. You know how this works now
There's gonna be a log jam at the front though
So I he's not gonna get in the Dante more category, but you never know with these guys
I just I just think what's interesting is like between his time at Ferris State and Ole Miss
If he plays another 13 games this next year
He'll still be at about 42 games which was when the Browns kind of said well should or he's a he needs to sit on the bench and
Prepare a little while like what 46 games 40 games between the
46 or 44 yeah, but he just didn't have 60 starts like Dylan Gabriel did there so
All this being said we knew have to visit with a ghost of Lonnie Chisholm Hall because
Obviously, there was a lot of excitement about chased the Lauders big night last night
Not only did he play rock solid defense in right field. I have no idea how he played right
So it didn't pay attention didn't care. It was all about the bats maybe but he got three hits
Two home runs two ribbies two runs and that led to a Ken Carman Ken Carman
Making this comp for chased a lot of today if chased a lotter can just stay healthy
He could be the right field or even though Lonnie Chisholm all started his career third base
Chase the lotter could be the right fielder that we were all of the player that we were all hoping that Lonnie
Chisholm all could be before the injuries issue is is the injuries if he could stay healthy
I think he has the power
I think he has the play where he can obviously stay in the lineup that he could be that player that we always hope that
Lonnie Chisholm all could be that's not a knock on Lonnie Chisholm Lonnie Chisholm all I think by and large was robbed by his
by his injuries and the fits and starts of his of his career still had eight seasons in the bigs
by and large was was Rod
I
Can got absolutely
way laid on social media for trying to compare
Chase the lotter to Lonnie Chisholm in a way that as a friend and
co-worker of
Can I thought was freaking hilarious?
Well, I mean it's easy to see why
He had to know when he went Lonnie Chisholm that was not gonna get a great reaction to people
I don't think he did know but well you have to know that like there's not there's not like a lot of great memories that people have with
Lonnie Chisholm to be like or any great season that Lonnie Chisholm had where you're like no that one that one year
Where it's like a 1.9 world player. I said great season like it one point nine is not great our Fred Hoytberg
I might be might be
Yeah, I mean like he just you have to know what people are gonna think there like if Chase the lotter has a Lonnie Chisholm
career that is not successful by any measure
Oh, maybe my maybe by the measure of people that don't play baseball at all, but like not by the measure of somebody that's supposed to be
Accomplishing things at the big league level. I
Thought I was funny and now Ken was not intending it as funny. I thought it was very funny
Mostly because I think I know the comp Ken was making
Lonnie was the number one prospect in a run where the Guardians didn't have a good farm system
Like he was he was he was yes, he was I think he was the number one pick. I think it was like 18th 19th overall
But like he was he was kind of put forth is hey best case scenario. He's a good player
But he's just he's the best prospect in a in a bad couple years where they just
Kind of have that weird downtime where they ended up having to fire their old
Assistant I know they're scouting director and put a new guy in and that's when he got kipness and he got all those other guys
I just think what's interesting is
I'm really I'm thinking really big with Lonnie Chisholm like my expectations
Are
I did say Lonnie Chisholm yeah, I'm thinking very big with chase the water
And there were two guys that I thought in terms of power in terms of contact in terms of what he can do
That that I think he could absolutely be your version of I know you did as well. So do you have a player?
Okay, that's not great that I I don't know
Maybe I want to go first in this though because I
I thought more about the second player I came up with and people aren't gonna like that one
Maybe not
No, it's not that's not it. I always trying to be practical. Crow is it no
I was trying to be realistic. I was trying to be practical
I was also thinking of left-handed outfielders that just kind of fit what I think chased a water could be
And I think the first name is a compliment. I think people are like but not love
I'll say that one for you. I say that one first. All right, Cody Belinger
Okay, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, I mean
Slugs around 500 every single season which is incredibly impressive. He has had a career that at certain points
You're like is awesome and at other points. You're like I don't know what we're doing here, but for the most part
You know
He said breakout years. He's a really solid seasons
And so I I think Cody Belinger's the positive one and then I thought this next one was positive
But I don't think you're like it when I say it now that I thought about it more
And it's not bad again career slugging around 500 hits the same marks left-handed
Corner outfielder Jay Bruce
I don't think it's a bad. I don't think it's a bad existence
But I can tell you're not pleased with that
Which Jay Bruce not the one I saw in Cleveland. No, that was the end of the end of the career Jay Bruce
That was not two Jay Bruce's yeah, no the mainly the Cincinnati one
Yeah, like the one that was a five-win player in your three of his career like that that version of Jay Bruce
I don't think that's an awful way to go
So mine I'll give you the stat line and I'll tell you if you think it's a fair stat line
So this is an average stat line. I don't know it's gonna be absurd
Can I tell you out the front? I know it's gonna be absurd
But I don't want to do that to you on Chase the water day because that's not that's not gonna be fair of me
It feels like you've already done it feels like you've done it upfront. I'm not preemptively doing it
But I do need to let you know like you preemptively wait for no part of my brain that is gonna be like yes
You've nailed it like this is not it's not gonna be what we're gonna start then we're not gonna do the name first
I'm gonna give you the average numbers in a few key categories
Okay, cuz I know I was being generous with my 500 slugging percentage that I'm giving to water, but that's fine
Yeah, a 26 home runs a year 28 doubles a year 75 RBI a year. Okay, these are very reasonable two 280 hitter
905 OPS and 142 OPS plus
Okay, that okay, there's nothing that's crazy about that. Okay, that's very reasonable
I like those numbers all things considered you know who those those belong to the career average of the of this person
Okay, you gotta we got a right smile on your face. Okay. Yeah. All right. Go ahead. Wait on me. That's price Harper
Oh, that's kind of surprising. Yeah. Okay. I'll give you the next one
27 homers
28 doubles 86 ribbies 277 batting average 878
OPS and then 145 OPS plus
You take that right
The average low bit of OPS but more home runs a year. Yeah, these are not crazy numbers by any stretch of the measure
No, I think this one you might like more than the first name. This is I love for your Bryce Harper
That's awesome. There's no problem with being that's a great. I just I'm shocked at how
Mediocre the numbers look on Bryce Harper when you actually say it. Yeah, it's like his best was extremely good
I think that's brought with the problem. Yeah, is that he's got very high highs and they also these seasons that are littered with injuries
And just not being very productive and that's where maybe we watch out in the middle. Yeah, but no exactly
He would like is his best season was like nine war and the next year is like 1.9 war
Yeah, I mean again, it doesn't doesn't surprise me because he's been one week MVP, but go ahead this fella was Kyle Tucker
And I actually think Kyle Tucker kind of meets you in the middle with with your guys and Kyle Tucker
I mean your guys are both very they're much better ball players than my guys
I mean, I like Cody Bellinger a decent amount, but like Kyle Tucker's had a much better career than Cody Bellinger and Jayperus
It's not really even close
And I mean I Kyle Tucker has been a basically borderline four five win player for like six seven years in a row
And so like six seven somewhere around there and so
Like if that happens you're over the moon like it like if chase the water turns into Kyle Tucker
Who was the one of the prized free agents of this off season?
I got paid a million trillion dollars by the Dodgers real number look it up
If that happens that's it's just to all defer that's a win. That's a massive win on every account
Like you can't use a legitimate top 10 player in the in the game like that's there's nothing that that's an exceptionally high
Living area for Kyle Tucker for from returning to Kyle Tucker, but that's that's fantastic if that happens two one six four seven four
0092 who would you rather
Chase the lottery turns into Kyle Tucker
Bryce Harper
Jay Bruce
Cody Bellinger
Or Lonnie Chisholm
216 474
0092 who would you rather what's funny about that is like my slugging percentage for my players are right around yours
It's not like yes a crazy thing you just your your players had years of just bad seasons littered in
To really good seasons and kind of washed out in between it's kind of what I think of Cody Bellinger by the way of he has that same boomer bus thing
You're trying to go with Bryce Harper definitely. I mean Cody Bellinger has a he's got a 40 near he's got a 47 home run season
Like like Cody Bellinger has these years where he's just gone insane
And I think that maybe that's where we have to exist with the water
So it was like about your prospects and the people you brought into it
Even though at Bryce Harper's one two MVPs and is legitimately awesome
And then Kyle Tucker has been a top 10 player in the sport for I don't know three or four years now is the idea that
Chase the waters probably gonna have the type of career with extreme highs mixed with years
Like Harper like Tucker like Bellinger where you're like all right
This wasn't as good for reasons x y and z that's injuries. That's whatever
But like that they're gonna be there and that's an okay thing for Guardians fans to live with if that's what you turn into you
Look up seven years from now and he's had either one of the three players we've mentioned careers
You won yeah, well, and I think that's a big win
I think like a very key thing here is some of the reason why I picked the guys I didn't and I think why you're so damn close on this
Is like 60 grade when we're talking about things like
Hitting it's like a 278 batting average, right? It is you know 27 to 33 home runs a year
these are all where
It chased a lot or is kind of like literally the only and I think this is important the only real question
Because I think he's even a high floor player like I do I think the one like I might say high floor what I mean is like
I think even at his worst if he's healthy. He's gonna be a good player
Even if that's his his floor might be Jay Bruce and maybe his ceiling is Cody Belinger right sure yeah
That's why like there is to me. I think there should be pressure on the Guardians
To really figure out how do you get this guy healthy and how do you keep him healthy
Because at some point when you've had the injuries that he has
The you become so cautious it become it can become a mental thing too
And so I think there is more pressure to me or more weight for the Guardians to just make sure find your way
Find a way to kind of get him ramp him up get him comfortable. Mm-hmm. Because I think if you do
I
If that guy that we saw last night can stay healthy and play at that level for a season
I think I'm gonna look like a real tool having said I think this is the first year to take the under on this team
I'll be remember when everybody got mocked a couple years ago
Because it was the one year where baseball was down and hey there and they have been the ALCS
That's how much a healthy Cody chase chased a lot or I think could could make a difference this year
Oh, it could be huge
I so I'm gonna accuse you of doing name porn with very realistic numbers. That's what I've settled on
But very realistic numbers. That's a compliment. Uh-huh. And then a little name porn there
That's what that was. Are you just jealous that I came up with better names?
No, I said name porn. What's wrong with that? I think it's a slanderer s accusation. Oh really?
It's not quite Lonnie Chisenhall for change the otter
But it's I'm sorry you take it that way. Is there a chance
That the only baseball player that's been in right field that can remember is
It was like him and sin and so chew and he just was like well, it's not chew
He's not Asian so he's got to be Chisenhall. Yeah, she's texting with coach Riz and they were trying to figure it out
He's like, yeah, but remember you got to call him
Shin Chusu
He was so confident about it. I loved it. That's how coach
It's how coach talks about Shin-Suchu. I've been about four of those nine percent of all beers
He texted me at like like two 12 or something like that and he was like, oh my positivity is rubbing off on you a great
Guardian segment you guys are killing it or whatever it was, but it's like it's like this is so positive
I know I'm I'm starting to get through to you and then I did my my
Night helmet take and I noticed the Conva stopped. Yeah
And bail and you can't you can't
What's your best hope that Lonnie
Damn you can
