The U.S. women’s national team scrapped its way to a 2-0 win over Argentina in the opening match of the 2026 SheBelieves Cup. But what did Emma Hayes’s team learn from a match where they only generated six shots and were fouled 21 times?
On this episode of Full Time, host Jillian Sakovits is joined by The Athletic’s Tamerra Griffin, who was in Nashville, Tennessee, for the opening night of the SheBelieves Cup. The duo analyzes the good, the bad, and the ugly of the USA’s win on Sunday night, and why Canada’s 4-1 over Colombia, in the other opening round fixture, meant so much to Casey Stoney and her players.
PLUS: Jillian and Producer Theo review the new ESPN documentary ‘NWSL: The Final Third’, which gives an inside look at the 2025 NWSL season, featuring behind-the-scenes footage of Angel City, the KC Current, and the Washington Spirit.

Already 20ish minutes into the game.
We were beginning to get the vibe of what the energy was going to be like from both.
Or Latino was coming to do.
They were coming to be menaces.
Straight up menaces.
And I think goals like that can sort of take down the temperature a little bit.
I mean, just a little bit.
Maybe it offers some relief.
But it didn't necessarily take down the temperature.
Because as we saw, it stayed pretty high until the final whistle.
Hello, hello.

If you missed it, here is how it broke down on Sunday night.
In the first two games of the She Believes Cup, the ESPN's national team.
Beats Argentina 2-0 and Canada rolls past Colombia for one.
So now, time to bring in my co-host from Nashville, right before her flight.
Hi, Tamara.
I'm tipping my invisible hat that it took a lot of restraint for me, not to purchase.
This was not going to be my first question for you, by the way.
I will say howdy, though.
I think I might try to make howdy a thing, even after I leave Nashville.
But I just have to say, this is only my second time, Jill and Nashville.
And I'm liking what I'm seeing here.
I was telling you in Theo before we started recording that I'm getting sort of Austin vibes.
Theo thinks that Nashville is similar to LA, which I need someone to explain to me a bit more like I'm five.
But I respect his take on that.
But it's been a really good trip so far.
The weather, honestly, speaking of West Coast has been even better and much warmer than Northern California,
which I was not expecting.
And for listeners who've been with us for a while on full-time, you know I've been eating royalty here.
So I am full and basically all of the way is right now.
Very great.
Did you get hot chicken?
I got hot chicken and I also learned the story behind hot chicken that is too detailed and crazy to go into.
But let's just say it involves, if this is true, what I read.
A man who was effing around and finding out and a woman who thought that she was punishing him by making his chicken too spicy,
only to find out that he actually liked it.
Damn.
The more I know.
But yes, I have had delicious hot chicken.
I've had amazing biscuits, great brunches.
Honestly, even like a Brussels sprout salad that I can't wait to recreate when I get home.
Like a shaved Brussels sprout situation.
They even like a mocktail that had like jalapenos and mint and mango juice.
Like everything that I've consumed, including the football, has been pretty delicious.
And spicy at times.
Okay.
I love this for you.
I hope you're not feeling that ting right now.
I hope you're not disappointed by the rest of your, she believes to our, that'll culminate in Harrison, New Jersey.
So enjoy that food in Nashville, Tennessee while you can.
All right.
You mentioned the game.
Let's go inside Judas Park on Sunday night.
First set the scene for me.
And then we're going to get into the good, the bad and the ugly.
Yeah.
So I know we're going to touch on the first game of the she believes cup,
which took place more in the afternoon, Canada and Columbia.
Canada beat in Columbia for one, which was huge for them.
It's their first win since June 2025.
Huge for morale, for vibes.
But yeah, let's start with the US Argentina game that took place directly after that.
Fans in Nashville definitely got a two for one deal talking about eating.
This was such an interesting game.
And honestly, the, the level of intrigue for me started long before kickoff as soon as I saw the starting lineup.
As we've mentioned on this podcast before as I've written about,
this is the first camp in which there were no players who were earning their first national team camp invitations,
invitations, certainly not their first cap.
But the structure and the lineup was still as fresh as if there were brand new players in the roster.
Claudia Dickie started in goal.
She actually is the most kept goalkeeper out of the three who were invited to camp.
So in some ways, not totally surprising,
but I think there's still sort of an unspoken thrust or focus on Fallantella's choice.
But she was on the bench on Sunday.
The back line was super interesting, specifically the Maddie Dalline as a wingback of it all.
I don't think anyone had that on their bingo card.
She was playing out wide and really exploiting the space ahead of her,
which I thought actually worked quite well.
She's a natural forward place for the Seattle Rain and I asked Claudia Dickie what it was like to have her club teammate playing
much closer to her than she's used to.
There was a double pivot kind of situation between Lindsay Haran who captained the squad last night in Lili Johannes in the first half.
I think we're used to seeing more of a natural six singular six position back there.
So that was a little bit interesting.
And then Jamice Joseph, friend of the pod,
I highly recommend listening to the episode and the interview that I did with her recently.
It was phenomenal.
I think her story is incredibly important and compelling.
She started as the nine and that was actually something that we talked about in our interview.
So those were just a few of the changes that really had me sat at kickoff.
But then of course once the game started very much a tale of two halves.
There were so many other things happening outside of just the sort of lineup and positional changes that will definitely get into.
But it was a very interesting game to say the least.
Okay, so you summarize that magnificently.
Let's zoom in a little bit on on our buckets as we're going to call them on today's show starting with the good.
You mentioned the captain, Lindsay heaps getting a banger alongside Jaden saw shot also scoring a bangers.
They returned to the US women's national team after missing the January window heaps finishing with a goal and an assist again in that game against Argentina.
It won what was her first appearance for the US since she announced that she would be returning to the NWSL when she plays with the debutants the Denver summit this upcoming summer.
What did you make of the goals and the excitement and the brilliance that we saw from heaps and Shaw.
Yeah, I think heaps his goal.
Actually, I would say this is true of both of the goals from my vantage point in the press box.
You know those goals that you can feel the ball hitting the back of the net before the shot is even taken.
Both of those were true for me.
Heaps in particular I thought had loads of space and time to strike that ball.
I believe it was with her left foot and it was a perfect sort of curler would have been really, really tough to save.
I think like even a world class keeper would have been supremely challenged with that one.
And then Jaden's she actually mentioned this in the mix zone after the game was almost identical her goal as the one that she scored in Italy at the end of last year.
So there was a lot of muscle memory going there.
I think that that area of the 18 yard box sort of at the corner is like a sweet spot for her which I think added to the anticipation like the premonition of the goal before she actually scored.
But what I appreciated about especially the first goal was how much of a team effort it was in the work that often goes under appreciated or unrecognize altogether in terms of the high press.
I thought Jameez to bring her back into this was phenomenal and I think that's actually one of her strengths as a forward is she is incredibly in the shade of like Lynn Williams incredibly hard worker when it comes to defense and being super aggressive off the ball high up the field.
And I believe it was part of that effort that opened things up for heaps to take that shot.
And then Jaden was also talking about how much she appreciated you know the sort of finessing and little flicks and stuff that were happening in the build up to her goal.
So two very different goals.
I do think heapses was very important at the time that it happened because already 20 ish minutes into the game.
We were beginning to get the vibe of what the energy was going to be like.
They were coming to be menaces.
Straight up menaces.
And I think goals like that can sort of take down the temperature a little bit.
I mean just a little bit.
Maybe it offered some relief but it didn't necessarily take down the temperature because as we saw it stayed pretty high until the final whistle.
It sure did and we're going to get into all of that.
Okay so Hayes sets up her team with heaps shot and Jameez Joseph as the three key attacking threats for Joseph she showcased exactly what she can do for the US women's national team.
She's lucky to not get on the score sheet.
But how much do you think Jameez Joseph has made a case for herself to be included in the squad?
The case is casing.
I have long been a big proponent of Jameez Joseph.
I love her game.
My soapbox is that had her rookie class when she was drafted into the end of us all been any less potent.
The way that we're talking about her now would have started at least last year if not her own rookie season.
I think she has.
I don't even want to use the word quiet anymore because the gate her game is no longer quiet.
It's getting louder and louder with every performance that we see and I'm not just talking about the US women's national team.
I'm also talking about the Chicago stars.
I've written once in our full-time newsletter which I hope everyone is subscribed to if you're listening to this.
If I had to offer three words of advice to the Chicago stars in the off season it was build around Jameez.
I think her hold up game is fantastic.
She's also great at taking players on 1v1 also something that we talked about in my interview with her.
And I thought as I mentioned that her defensive work rate is impeccable.
She is tenacious. She's technical. I think already even with the few appearances that she's made with the US women's national team
we're seeing the way that she's combining with players like Jade and Shaw.
In ways that I think are producing results even if she's not the one finding the ball in the back of the net.
Though if you're listening to this and you thought that she was on side on that goal that she scored let us know because I wasn't able to see a slow enough replay
and I still haven't watched but the fact that she even got close enough in that game only playing one half I think says a lot.
So as we inch closer to 2027 and as questions around the health of other players who are in her similar positions whether they are more on the wing
or playing more centrally as she did on Sunday night continue to go unanswered at least for now.
She 100% for me is a player that we need to continue keeping our eye on.
You mentioned that draft class and just to give our listeners some context in that 2024 and WSL draft was number one Ali set north and savvy king.
Corrie Bethune how herself just just to name a few are let's type a little bit deeper on on Joseph Michelle Cooper also out right now but there are players like.
Capricoreal mouse wants and so feel Wilson all not on this roster so how much more difficult though does that make the case for for Joseph or do you think Emma Hayes is really looking at this.
With a fresh lens.
I think she kind of has no choice right now in this moment then to look at this holistically last year so much of her focus went into what she has described as closing the gap between players who would regularly start.
For the US national team and those who would come in off the bench and I think that's why so much of last year was defined by seeing new players getting called up seeing more players than ever in the history of US soccer earning caps in a single calendar year under the under a new manager under a manager.
Now that she has said and she mentioned this before the game she has seen the way that the gap has closed.
But for me it comes back to availability and health a lot can change and will change between now and let's say spring of 2027 basically a calendar year from now where.
The things are going to start getting narrower and tighter and the competition for positions whether that's a starting position whether that's a roster spot for 2027 are going to get very very tight.
And I also think that has is the kind of manager who and this is something that I think we have tended to see in the past with the US women's national team.
I don't think going to Brazil is going to look like the same starting 11 more or less for every game and I don't even mean you know let players rest for this game.
I mean this is the opponent that were up against this is the strategy that we're going to need to employ to beat them and these are the best players to play into that strategy.
That's just my prediction maybe that will change but I think for that reason too.
She's keeping things as open as possible for as long as possible and she's never going to stray too far from her passion will say and priority of development.
So that's also another factor to consider she wants to constantly be developing players.
Yeah, that is her bread and butter. Okay, so that is all all of the good.
There is a lot of good there let's transition to the bad for anybody watching the game.
The obvious bad is Trinity Rodman leaving the game after taking a huge knock in the back which for so many people you hate you hate to see that you hate to see an injury but you hate to see where it is after Trinity Rodman spent almost all of last year rehabbing her back.
She gets hit by 18 year old Argentine defender Malagoras Martin.
Can you take us through that moment in Geotus Park and what's the latest that we know on Rodman?
To answer the second question first not much after the game in the press conference with Emma Hayes I asked if she had a chance to speak with Rodman she said no.
Whenever I hear that for managers I'm like really.
But on record we know Emma Hayes talks to her players.
So but I will tell you what I saw from the press box.
Unfortunately I think the placement of where the foul and injury happened was very close to the broadcast microphones so not only did I hear immediately.
The kind of yell and outcry and scream that leaves absolutely no doubt of the degree of pain that she was in.
I then later learned that that wasn't just an in stadium audio that was actually captured on television as well which means we all heard it.
As you mentioned that combined with the fact that when I watched the game on replay again still from the press box I noticed that even before Trinity hit the ground she already was making a move to clutch her back which told you how.
How clearly she understood when it happened to her of course when you get hit and any part of your body that badly you know you know where you need to sort of like put the care.
And so it was a tough moment.
This was not like a first time injury which is jarring in its own way.
This is a literally triggering area of a body of a player that we have long known about that as you mentioned was the cause of a long term absence from the pitch last season.
That I think everyone from the Washington spirit to certainly the end of us out to all of us who find joy and watching Trinity play felt we felt the impact of that.
And ever since she's come back I think there's been this sort of tentative optimism about what that's going to look like especially considering that she has said on record that this is a condition that's going to factor for the rest of her career.
So we don't have any updates about the magnitude yet of the injury that she picked up it was nice and a relief for sure to see her walking off the field of her own volition even after the game when I was waiting in the mix zone for other players I saw her walking on her own gingerly along with really real who also picked up a knock in that game.
It looked like an angle injury for her which I'm sure Gotham is not thrilled to hear at all.
So it was a very to be game it was super physical and I know we'll get into the implications of what that means for the US in terms of their development but it was a really tragic and unfortunate moment but hopefully we'll have more concrete updates to share about Trinity soon.
One more topic in the category of bad and that is the amount of total shots that the US was able to generate in this two nil win over Argentina and that was six total shots in your mind Tamara what was the biggest reason why the US couldn't generate more.
Something that Emma Hayes mentioned after the game was that Argentina went into this match prepared to do full one v one marking and defending which means the second you get the ball you better have be thinking three steps ahead maybe instead of the usual two or one step further than whatever you're thinking because they're going to be tied on you and as we saw they're not only going to be marking you tight they're going to be all up on you.
Of course when you start a tournament against the team that go player for player everywhere it's really difficult to control the game especially in the deepest spaces it's the hardest thing to do in football when you're building up against a team that does that so you have to have a variety of ways to be able to solve it both short and both long.
And so I thought there was a challenge for us particularly the first half and we didn't always make the right decisions that come with that but I think that comes with some of the inexperience that's amongst us but that's what I want there's I want the exposure you know always going to win a football match the same way and you certainly aren't going to dominate especially in those build up situations when teams go player for player it can it creates an interesting challenge one that we did.
So by you know adapting midfield I think there's a lot of positives with indifference that sometimes we don't pay enough attention to and I am proud of the team for that even though I knew it was going to be a lot like that.
So players like for example maybe an Ali sent nor who loves to take these long range shots who actually even when she subbed on I thought made a really positive impact on the game but for players who enjoy exploiting space that was going to be something that they needed to work around.
I thought that Argentina they were clearly not afraid to get stuck in defensively separate from the way that they were marking.
And I think that combined with what I mentioned earlier about the new sort of lineup and partnerships that I think Emma Hayes was curious to see in this game.
Those two things sort of combined between the opponent and the assignment that the players were given with these different formations.
I think maybe I think those two things combined resulted in us not seeing as many shots on goal as many chances created especially.
I was a bit surprised and had been prepared to ask Emma about that whether she thought that they should have been creating more chances on goal but after Trinity got hurt that sort of shifted the narrative of the game a bit.
I definitely don't think that that's going to work against Canada who they play next in Columbus put it that way.
Okay, all right finally the ugly Jaden Shaw gets her hair pulled in the first half by Evelyn Dominguez and the rough only gives a yellow card Argentina scrap a game to say the least committed 21 fouls against the US.
Were you surprised at all by the level of spice that was in this game considering it was the first of what is a friendly tournament.
A bit.
I was here for it. I'm just saying.
Yeah, very much open.
Yeah, it was like a both and I'm surprised and I'm here for it.
I followed Argentina certainly during the World Cup in 2023.
I knew that they would be far from aside that you can make any sort of real assumptions on in terms of the result or what they would sort of offer.
I think even more so than Chile and Petruguay for example who we saw the US play in January.
But I would say that going into the game if I was expecting like I don't know as five or six out of 10 on the scale of physicality.
We were looking at more of like an 8.7 8.9 9.1 9.3 maybe not 9.3 it wasn't that crazy.
It's a solid nine.
So and honestly even more importantly than what I was seeing the players said that Claudia Dickey who I spoke to after the game literally said that it was a more stressful game than they'd been prepared for.
And I think at halftime that was very much part of the conversation about what it means to adjust to a team that has made clear what their what their remit is in terms of how they plan to try and win how they plan to compete.
And I also spoke to Jaden Shaw after the game and there was definitely some poetic justice to the fact that she scored a goal post hair pull.
But I asked her about that and sort of wondered aloud whether that sort of was a bomb of sorts to the frustration that she clearly felt which I'm sure you saw on TV when she was literally motioning to the rest about what happened.
And she said yes that was the first time she'd ever had her hair pulled in a game.
And she said quote I wasn't messing with it which fair enough I don't think any of us would.
But she also said something that I think is really important to underscore here which is that.
And this was reflected also by Emma Hayes and Olivia Multri who we saw getting in the face of an Argentine player later in the game.
Jaden said that one of the things that she has personally been working on is her emotional management in the middle of a game.
And she sort of framed that moment as a test of her ability to do that.
And what what better argument can you make that you have been doing the work then scoring a goal after something like that has happened.
So I think for her she I like I applaud her for being able to turn a very unfortunate moment into something that she literally capitalized on in the second half.
I think that's really important.
And I think one thing that I've been hearing a lot from Emma from the players is that yes this is a friendly tournament in terms of the round robin style in terms of it not necessarily being like a FIFA sanctioned event.
But they're treating it like a tournament and everything that they're doing here in terms of having to turn around quickly and prepare for the next game in terms of learning how to as Emma Hayes said win in different ways.
They're doing this in the context of World Cup preparation for sure.
And so I think that as whatever for whatever we might say about the way the game was played, officiated with what Argentina were bringing.
It feels very clear that the US is looking at their ability to manage the emotions of a game as a win when it comes to what happens Sunday night.
I feel like Emma Hayes is low case ending Argentina. I thank you know for testing your heads because we see this team very often the opponent respecting the US and Argentina came in in a different way and this is the type of test that they haven't had a ton of yet.
I think Emma Hayes is grateful grateful for and we saw the spice in the other game as well Columbia Canada a double yellow having a player sent off.
So there's spice all around this tournament and Tamara we look forward to seeing what happens in the second of this three game sat should we call it when it all shifts to Columbus Ohio which is where we'll catch up with you next time.

That's the good one the US taking on Canada at 645 and in the meantime if you need something to fill that women soccer cup of yours you can go check out the new docu series on ESPN I just finished watching it on my ride from the airport here Theo ESPN put out an NWSL documentary it's a new mini series.
And it was aimed at going behind the scenes of the 2025 and WSL season zooming in specifically on three players Trinity Rodman of the Washington spirit spirit Riley turn in of angel city and low LeBonta of the Kansas City current but I found this docu series to go much further.
Then all that and kind of take me on some twists and turns perhaps that I wasn't expecting what was your biggest takeaway of this three part series.
Hello yeah I think I like I'm interested to know more of the journeys you kind of it took you on I think the interesting thing for me and I I do want to give credit to ESPN and the production behind this and Marie Margolis who the director.
It's great this exists the behind the scenes footage some of the cinematography some of the what they were able to capture was really really good and when we talk about deepening what we can see and what we can learn about the end of yourself and these players this is a huge huge win.
The struggle with it and in my opinion is when you're making a documentary you have to make quite hard choices about what you keep in the edit and what you keep out.
And their decision to go kind of focused on the Washington spirit and angel city and Kansas City current regardless of how the season plays out is is tricky so I think especially the angel city component and so much Riley Tianan.
Felt a bit like we were getting lost in the weeds of what the real story of the 2025 season was and I think trying to bring so many new maybe you and yourself as well people didn't notice legal on the right while people like you know you are me or other people who know some of these characters already you feel like you're kind of wasting time.
So here's the thing I'd say anyone who listens to this podcast would get a lot out of watching it.
You get to see other sides of people I feel like I feel like the player that I walked away from being like oh I think I'm a fan of your personality and I want to know more about.
Oh, can I guess who it is it's how hush felt yes amazing how how still yeah she wins the docu series for me and that's what these are all about that someone sparks your interest you look them up you look up a team they play on and that was a huge when coming out of this this docu series but to your point if I had to be critical I'd say less is more angel city should have ended up on the cutting room floor I would have made it I would have made it a story of two teams.
Or even one team or that's my argument yes we we've all been there as someone who is a producer and was at one point my career only a producer and did documentaries it's really hard to throw 500 hours on the cutting room floor for three 45 minute segments but those are the hard decisions that you talk about but here's that here's the things that I really liked about it if how her felt is my winner my runners up are I liked how Sam muess was like.
How Sam muess was like our guiding wizard great to have her as a token head yes she kind of is like the professor like making it all make sense Trinity Rodman like opening up and maybe being like a little bashful about her relationship I found really endearing and cute cliff note though I understand that out of respect for Trinity we don't talk to her about who her dad is but everyone sitting there hearing the last name Rodman is like is that Dennis Rodman's daughter.
And as journalists you have to chime in and give some context as to who this player is because it's not like it's some random NBA players daughter it's Dennis Rodman can I jump in there though sure so more context ESPN and producing this as part of the end of yourselves broadcast four year broadcast deal with different broadcast entities so last year Amazon Prime did a very similar behind the scenes you remember it I think we talked about it.
So this is sort of the second edition different production group different director and that documentary focused a lot on Trinity Rodman and I'm not saying focus on it though but I'm saying I think that and again it's inconsistent with some other editorial choices but that if you know that documentaries out there and you know she's talked about it before but you can't I take your point and you're right you're you're right who is this for is this for but that's already watching 30 and WSL games a year or is this for someone who.
Who who who saw the Trinity Rodman and a good documentary in my opinion hits both people to talk about Dennis Rodman the last dance about the Chicago Bulls I could know nothing about Chicago Bulls pulled you in America's team about the Dallas Cowboys pulled you in and I knew not much about that air of the Dallas Cowboys so a good documentary.
May makes the ultra fans not feel bored but doesn't alienate the new fans so I think there were a lot a lot of positives here and I would absolutely go and watch it but I think that a new fan would have a hard time connecting with the players because there was just too much.
I'm kind of skimming the surface of great storylines that transpired all season rather than just picking the the two or three best ones but again that is me putting on my producer hat overall yes I go watch it and I'm happy that I learn more about how I felt well worth three times three forty five minute episodes totally agree and I also want to shout out low lobona because I think the director in the and the documentary starts the amazing job highlighting one of.
The kind of great end of the cell characters and the cell players the captain of a record breaking can see current side who doesn't have an international Korean a lot of people don't know about and I think her back story and and what happened to her brother and all that kind of getting to know her better and her relationship with the guy from sporting KC who you maybe like that's a great example of I had no idea who that guy was I don't watch Emma less you probably knew who he was so I thought that was really good and it made me it deepened my connection to an end of supply already know I thought.
I knew a lot about so I think the low lobona stuff my biggest critique and I think it's like making documentaries really hard I think you put it really well who is this for and it's hard to try and make it for different people but my critique is like I could have had a whole documentary about low lobona and we could just stayed there we could just stayed in KC for for an hour and a half that's basically like more of what I wanted but the when it was good it was good it was just like you said they could have cut stuff they could have they trying to squeeze a lot in.
Hey and credit to spn like the amount of sit downs and the amount of travel that is not a cheap production it was really well done so you can stream and WSL the final third with a subscription on the ESPN app now and it'll also be available to stream on Disney plus between March 2nd which is today the day this podcast is coming out Monday through March 31st so that's our real thoughts and feel before we say goodbye today I give you a
quick confession of mine. Confessed. Confessed. So for our watchers our viewers as I call them look Theo what arrived as I walked into my house eight minutes before this podcast began look what was on my oh for those of you that are
listening it is a Utah Royals jersey. They watch them. I feel like I'm gonna throw off because no team set me a 2026 kit in the end of the cell but the Utah Royals did and I did them so dirty I don't even think I spoke when I just said I don't
get it not great colors yada yada but you know what I'm looking person it's more beautiful in person and
yeah did they buy me a little bit probably wow but there's a little bit more
dimension the yellow is a little bit more warm and sunny than I thought behind the
lion there's there's a little bit of like a floral situation happening so I just
want to I'm gonna find a new least favorite and WSL kit I haven't had time to do
that in the two minutes since I've opened this but I just want to go on the
record to say it worked Utah you bought me and this no longer takes my place for
last place I'm obsessed I'm issuing an apology I'm obsessed with your end of
yourself blind kit ranking because it's sort of become law on this podcast of
like something you deeply regret and that was floored and you were set up and
everything about like from Gotham at one in Utah at six it's like nothing on that
forever you know shout out to the Utah admin in the office and the
com steam for getting the shirt shirts out we love to see you know we love to
see shirts we love to see shirts getting across the country and you know we
love a good football kit if you had strong feelings about the end of
circuit rankings or anything we said about the 2026 and so kids that was on the
last podcast you can go and your podcast feel listen to that hit us up in on
TM's at TA full-time on social media or full-time at the athletic dot com we
love strong feelings good or bad and we love we love new kids we got two more
fashion discussion points before we get out of here one Jill is wearing a
Spanish version of together but with the next very famous everyone watches
women's sports Jill tell me about your shirt what does the writing say and where
did you get it okay so obviously I am like a subscriber to the emails of
everybody watches women sports swag email our list and I got this email that they
were putting ones out this was right before after bad bunnies half-time
super role performance I would have bought it anyway for the record they're just
good at marketing good at timing but the Spanish edition came out of the t-shirts
and I got it in my email and I wanted to support it and I bought it just like
everybody else and now they're virtually sold out and it's really really cool
it's like a nice heavy after the beach blue t-shirt it's got embroidery let me
tell you it has a flower it has a straw hat it has a sun it has a domino and it
has a frog and it is the colloquial expression that reflects rhythm flow and
musicality of spoken Spanish especially across the Caribbean influenced
communities and when I read that description sure the embroidery part like
really sold me but as soon as I read that description I said that's the
shirt I want and I actually don't own everybody watches women sports swag I
feel like every time a really cool one came out like a Gothamune really cool
one came out a couple years ago they sell out so bought it right away and it's
showed up today and I put it on about one minute before the show to El Mundo
ve deporte is femininos yes and then the black and white version is in just like
this the straight-up straight-up Spanish we should also say that the Puerto
Rican women's national team won 10-0 against Saint Vincent and the
Greta deans in their World Cup qualifier over the weekend so big week
connected very much never a better time to be speaking Spanish and asking
everyone to watch women sports yeah Jill before I before I really end the show
and I promise you it's gonna end I do want to get your take I wanted to talk
about tomorrow but we didn't have time I already know you're gonna say the cowboy
hats in Nashville Emma Hayes I need your fashion review and also shout out
everyone on the TNT sports desk who yes went full cowboy casting Emma Hayes
you sent me a screen grab of Emma Hayes getting off the bus in and I like
Southwest vibe outfit which you know she doesn't always do and most of all the
the cowboy hats so I found it so fun to lean into it when they were all on the
the TNT desk one I'm here for bringing fun to broadcasting all the way so
win but Emma Hayes look did get slightly like overshadowed by everybody
having the cowboy hats on but you know what broadcasting is supposed to be
fun we watch the game to feel happy and to take a break so go for it that's
what broadcasting is all about I got a lot of text from people in England
being like didn't understand it well no they understood it but they were like
what's happened to Emma Hayes she's really she's like turned into a cowboy she's
committed now I was like you know that's what you got to do you commit to to
your national team so if you ever thought if you ever wondered about Emma Hayes
loyalty I think a big cowboy hat in Nashville probably told you everything
you need to know and that listener really is the end of our show all right so on
that note did you know that the athletic has partnered with Yahoo Sports to
