Thank you for listening to my morning monologue. Brought to you by Golden Crest Metals. Find out how golden silver can protect. Would you have worked so hard to build? Visit goldencrestmetals.com slash Dr. Laura. Remember, you can hear my radio program daily on Syria 6M Triumph and connect with me 24-7 at Dr. Laura.com. I'm here to talk today pre-planned about when people lie. And a lot of you have people in your life, your kids, your spouses, your friends, your parents, whoever. Well, lie and you say, I don't know why they didn't really need to lie. Well, yeah, they did. They needed to lie. You may look at what they lied about and think. It's so small. Why would they bother to lie? Because for them, it is important. So one question you could ask.

First of all, I think you should reasonably minimize anybody in your life who perpetually, compulsively lies. It's, ain't going to get better. Okay. So moving from there though. At the moment, it's always good to ask questions and a lot of you have to push you to ask questions when you have dialogues with people in your life about situations. Just to say, what made this thing so important to you? I mean, in your own head, it might be, who would lie about this? This is so ridiculously dumb and small on microscopic and who cares? They do. For some reason, find it out by saying, what made this so important to you? This seems very important to you. What makes it important? Why? People lie for control. They're trying to control a situation, exert influence. You see this in politics all the time.

Latent in your face. Lying for control for power. I'm personally really impressed. I am impressed. Yes, impressed. With how many people you can watch being interviewed, read their comments, with their blatantly, it's, I mean, everybody standing within 5,000 miles knows their lying. They know their lying and they're okay with it. Because there's something else to be gained. Power money getting out of trouble. Who knows what it is? Well, I got in a situation. Lying is rampant. Sometimes people lie because like in your family, they tell you a lie because they don't want to disappoint you.

I always love that explanation. I didn't want to disappoint you. Well, then why didn't you actually just do the thing? Pen you actually would not disappoint me. Now I'm disappointed twice over. Once because you didn't do the thing and you're lying and saying you did or didn't whichever way it goes. When in the first place, you should have handled it honorably. And correctly, so it gives me a laugh. Well, I didn't want to disappoint you. Well, now I'm disappointed twice. For the event and for the lie. And lying is worse. Lying damages relationships. Almost like nothing else because then there's no trust cannot be a bond where there's no trust. Can't just can't. Sometimes people lie because they told a lie and then it just, you know, just sort of set the scene up for while I got a lie about this. No, I got a lot. And it's like a snowball.

Each lie gets more and more complex as you're trying to hide all the previous lies. To one of the reasons I don't lie is it's too much effort. It's too much effort. I'd have to remember all the parts. So I can't get caught. And I'm not good at that. So the easiest thing is just deal with the truth. Sometimes people lie because they're immature, insecure and they just want it to be true. So they're going to say it simply because they want it to be true. Their need for to be true is so important that they sacrifice character and trust. Yes, I know that's bizarre.

Sometimes people lie. You see, I'm considering lying an overt act. Which means if you actually forgot and got something wrong, I don't consider that a lie. I consider that bad memory. And I have a friend who has cheese, what a memory. I mean, 30 years ago, remember things. So I will say, I think we were in that city at that radio station. He'll go, no, we were in this city and the other radio station. And I always believe him because he has a better memory. So I'm not lying. I just don't remember right now. If I'm given the facts and I stay with it, now I'm lying. So what do you do with a liar? Minimize interaction and don't trust them.

That's it. You're not going to change them. You're not going to fix them. You're not going to argue them out. Line number 1-800-375-28-72.
