Why do we think of movies as mythology?

In this first, introductory episode, Mark Stratton pitches the name "Movies Are Mythology" at Michael Bolton who then hits a homerun with his introspective dialogue as to why the title works with the pair's rather unique perspective on how movies reflect society and the individual back to the viewer.
