A.B., it's 13 losses in a row, but you and I are both pretty used to it at this point.
We understand that's the mission.
That's the goal.
Every loss gets you a little bit closer.
But you got some big time performances tonight from Will Riley and Bob Carrington.
So we had a little bit of fun today watching this game, didn't we?
Bob, 30 bull.
That's what we've been talking about.
I know people have been talking about the slump, but tonight that wasn't the case.
Bob stands.
Stand up.
There we go.
There we go.
20-year-old big night form.
We're going to talk about him in the second segment.
And outside of the 30-point game, which is season high for Bob Carrington,
I think there's some other aspects of his game that have really grown.
We detail that today.
We're giving opportunity with A.B. to let it all out, of course, in the final segment.
But let's start with Will Riley because he came out with a different type of energy
and a aggressive mentality early in this game.
And to me, his offensive talent has become undeniable.
I think based on what we've talked about with how crowded this wingroom is going to be,
next year with Blaukulabali, Cam Whitmore, Kishan George, Potentially a Gallic A.J.
de Bonza, where's Will Riley going to fit in in this equation?
Because he has been awesome for this team.
And to another night was one of those nights where you go, wow, this dude really
has skills that we don't see from an average basketball player at his age.
This guy just turned 20 years old and he's doing impressive things night in, night out.
There's a reason why his college coach, Brad Underwood, to go in the way,
said he was a tough shot maker.
That stuck out to me early in this game.
One opportunity when he got the ball facing up in the corner,
shot clock was winding down.
Had a hand right in this face, he rises right up for the jumper and he knocks it down.
He continues to get better every single game.
And just scoring the ability alone is going to take him really far,
I think, in his Wizard's career, A.V.
And he's just so raw.
I mean, raw as in, he's so young and he's barely scratching the surface.
How we start off the season was slow and that's what we expected.
It's going to take some time to fit into what the modern day NBA is in the speed
that he played in college or the NBA.
You love to see the transition at 610.
Potentially could be 611 or 7 feet.
And it's going to be a tough decision next year, Ben.
When you have such a crowded wingroom and potentially could add a guy in the draft,
how do you distribute these minutes?
Because Bill Al is essentially going to get an extension, at least we're assuming.
Number wise, we don't know yet.
Well, Riley, a case of 21 points, he's had a really good post all star break.
And I do want to see the numbers, Ben, I have to look it up.
But I've got it for you.
Well, go ahead, let me know.
I've got, I've got the post all star break numbers.
I looked this up right before we did the show.
So they'd probably be a little bit inflated actually from what they are right now
because these were the numbers that I was looking up as the game was ongoing here.
Post all star break for Lil Riley.
14 points on 48% shooting, 35% from downtown.
However, as a starter, tonight was this ninth start of the season,
he's averaging 15 points per game and shooting 42% from behind the art.
So when he gets these opportunities to handle the basketball a lot,
to get chances at scoring, he shows that he is a real, real offensive talent.
And I think that makes him so useful for what this team is trying to do in the future.
And tonight, what stuck out to me is you're playing this Detroit team
that was without Kate Cunningham for a lot of this game.
He went down with an injury chasing down a loose ball with Tray Johnson.
They kind of collided with one another in the first quarter.
He didn't return to the game to Troy.
We'll them out with back spasms.
This is a really physical Detroit team.
They've kind of hung their hat defensively all season on being physical,
being in your face and body new all night.
Riley hasn't been afraid of contact whatsoever despite his pretty slight frame.
And I was impressed with his ability early on in this game to get paint touches,
to get opportunities at the rim,
despite this really physical Detroit defense trying to let him have it.
He scored 11 points in the first quarter of this game.
And honestly, if he was having the same type of opportunities he had in the first quarter
throughout the entirety of this game,
I think he goes for 30 plus pretty easily.
And post also a break when you look at those numbers, Ben,
it just has me convinced that
we're Riley could have potentially been a top six pick in this upcoming draft class,
a loaded draft class.
And this is a kid who the wizards traded down for when originally they had a wall
to play and they traded back.
And all the hype was going into trade Johnson going into this season.
But not many people talked much about well, Riley.
I know you and I did.
And it just goes to show that the wizards organization did their due diligence.
And they I'll say right now they hit on another draft pick.
This kid is so young and he's just too good for the capacity to go go.
We talk we talk about it all the time.
This is giving me confidence that this kid could be a real contributor
for this team moving forward.
And again, Ben, next year the starting lineup,
it's going to be tough in the wing group because you want to see
the log as many matches as you can.
But we're Riley showing you it as a year one guy that he can go out there and hoop.
And then there's AJ the bonds of potentially Caleb Wilson, Cameron Booser.
And on top of the justice champ penny plates tonight and he's a guy that can
contribute to winning basketball.
Lots of tough decisions, but it's good to have these types of problems.
We're Riley.
I'm excited for a future here in DC.
Ben, it's going to be a great company.
I'm forward to that aspect of it.
And I think when it comes down to it, when you look at the numbers and you look at
the eye test over the last month or so,
Will Riley has been the best rookie for this team.
It's been a bit of a slump for Tray Johnson.
And tonight certainly was not one of his better nights.
I think he was a little better in the second half, but three for 12.
So you like to see that Johnson didn't lose confidence.
He continued to shoot the ball.
But the shot this hasn't fallen for the guy as of recent.
I'm not worried whatsoever about Tray Johnson.
I think it's crazy some of the discourse that exists around him right now,
saying he's hit some kind of rookie wall.
He's in a bit of a shooting slump right now.
I think he's had some of those inconsistencies when it comes to staying in the line up,
doing with a little bit of injury this year.
But the way Riley's played, he's been the best rookie of the group.
So far, over the last month or so, Junior Watkins, I think has given you some real quality
minutes as well.
But I want to go back to that trade you were talking about.
You trade back three spots in the last draft to get Will Riley, who looks like a guy who's
going to be a proven NBA player at this level because of his offensive game.
When they traded back, they also got the second round picked.
They used to acquire Junior Watkins.
That's a really underrated trade that they made right there.
And Walter Clayton might very well become a pretty solid player.
I liked him coming out of Florida.
But Riley's been the better player in Junior Watkins, a guy that's already earned a full-time
contract with this team as a second round pick.
Great trade that they made to trade back and get Riley.
And once again, another night that just shows you what he is capable of.
And it just makes me wonder, Ben, potentially in this upcoming draft, is your possibility
to where they trade back into the first round because we have all these draft picks in
this draft cap little.
But then again, there's just so much talent on this squad.
Man, it's going to be interesting to see where Will Riley stands in the rotation.
We're hoping that he has a big summer.
And I think you said that Ben, he's your breakout candidate for next season.
Yeah, absolutely.
I think there is a real possibility that now that you bring it up, they trade back into
the first round.
They had that 30-of-overall pick, which they traded to Dallas to acquire Anthony Davis.
So not too worried about that.
But if you're able to string together some of these second round picks, maybe some stuff
in the future to get back in the first round.
I think that could be a good move for this Washington team because of how loaded this
class is.
A lot of people think there's going to be some pretty premier talent even in the back end
of this first round.
So it'll be interesting to see how that all plays out.
I love to continue seeing development from certain players.
And in NBA season where it's all about development, it's not about wins and losses for this
team, you see different stretches of play where different guys have shined.
In the last month or so, it's been real Riley's time.
In the month of March, his usage is actually down 3%, but the numbers are up for him.
The one thing he doesn't really have to his game yet is the punishment when it comes to
his jumper.
He's shitting 33% on jumpers throughout the course of his rookie season.
And he's had a couple of nights where he shot the ball from the outside, shot the ball
from the mid range pretty well.
But by the numbers full time over the course of the season, it's not quite there for him.
So if he continues to work on a shot, continues to find ways to get better at shot creation,
which I think he will, looks like he's going to be a real special offensive player to me.
And this is a game that you're going out there against a really good Eastern Conference
team without your facilitator and Trey Young.
I love talking about in the recent show, the livestream that we had against the Warriors
post game, Trey Young and Bilal Kool-Abali, that duo is great to watch.
But maybe we'll Riley and Trey Young find them to allow them to bounce off each other
and be able to enhance their games.
This is great to see.
And again, no Alex Sartonite.
I know you lost to a really good Eastern Conference team in the Dredora pisses like I mentioned.
Jalen Dern is a beast.
But you found a way out there for the young guys to play some of the competitor basketball
and I understand no kick on him without the injury early.
But this just gives you optimism as a Wizards fan knowing that at least you're still competing
and your young guys are going out there and proving it all.
Bob Carrington had a lot of haters and he's still the us.
But 30 points tonight, those haters are quiet, at least for tonight.
Bob not only did he score a season high, I think he's shown some pretty significant improvements
in areas that I had said he needed to make improvements and over the past couple nights
I've noticed some things about Bob Carrington.
We'll talk about that next here on Lockdown Wizards.

Season high for Bob Carrington 30 points.
He really started to cook with fish grease late in this game, 12 of 16.
How about that efficiency for Bob today, six to eight from downtown, but it's not even
about scoring for the output tonight for Bob Carrington.
The way he commanded himself for the point guard position was impressive.
He did not turn the basketball over tonight.
And one thing I've noticed with him recently is his ability to get to the paint, get paint
touches.
That's something we hadn't seen from him for the majority of the season saying if Bob
Carrington wants to become a point guard of this league, he has to figure out a way to improve
his game, breaking down a defense, getting into the paint, creating for others.
And over the last four or five games or so, I'd say he's really learned and shown the
ability to do that with a little bit more consistency.
And maybe you'd like to call this the Trey Young effect here.
He sees Trey Young doing it every day in practice.
He's getting that in grade into his brave.
Now that he's putting that part of his game together, it's becoming a lot more exciting
to watch.
And I've actually been really encouraged over the past four or so games that we've seen
from Bob playing at point guard of the league.
And I love that he's taking advantage of this opportunity because again, this wizard
squad is doing with a lot of injuries.
Keishan George was out today.
Alex tried, like I mentioned, Trey Young, Bob Carrington being a young guy who's had his
peaks and valleys this season, 30 points, 37 minutes, four rebounds to assist.
This is what I want to see and build off of.
This is a kid who is an Iron Man, his nickname because he doesn't miss games last season
play already too.
I'll work his second team.
And I think there is a spot on this rotation that he can be a real key contributor.
You just have to be patient with the kid, 20 years old.
You just can't give up on guys so easily after one year, two years, even three years.
It's just, it got to a point where for Bob that you have to block the outside noise and
just play your game.
And like you mentioned, getting into the paint, that mid-range shot, I know it's my, that
three point shooting has been a strength despite struggling in the different type of areas
this season.
And for Bob to be able to persevere and keep on going and knowing that this team isn't
going to win that many games, but you still have to go out there and contribute in some
fashion.
Tonight he did that.
And again, this is a really good Detroit Pistons team that they really had to put their
starters at the end of that game, man, because this Wizard Squad was giving them a fight.
And I'm hoping that Bob can build off it and I expect a good year three from him.
Yeah, it's going to be important to see him build off these type of performances carried
this toward the end of the season, kind of the way he did last year.
And then pick that up in the next season.
I think there's going to be competition for him next year, whether it's them falling in
this draft or whatever it may be and them drafting a point card, that would provide some
competition for him or somebody else being brought in.
I think there's going to be legitimate competition at every single position on the floor.
There's not many guys on this roster.
I'd say we're are definitively starting players for this team next year.
That's the kind of problem you want to have though.
You want to have guys compete and earn their spot.
You want to have a plethora of talent that gives you a tougher decision when it comes
to who's going to be on the court for minutes next season because it's going to be go time.
They're not necessarily hitting the gas and as in the sense where they're trying to be
like the one seat in the Eastern Conference.
We know that, but there's going to be real expectations that they go out there and play
winning basketball night in night out.
So we're just Bob Carrington fit in that equation.
To me, it's pretty simple.
I think Bob Carrington is going to have a pretty solid role for this team as a guy that
comes off the bench and can provide you the three point shooting and play in the back
up point card role.
Now things could change if they fall on this draft and they land a player like Kingston
Fleming's or Darius Acuff, then everything could change.
And you might see Bob Carrington go back to playing in an off-ball role.
Whatever it may be, I think Bob is a guy that's proven that he can adapt in many different
ways in this league and he's a very, very young player.
We talk about this.
I issued a public apology to Bologna Culliboli saying, you know, I had my reservations.
I had my doubts about the kid's offensive game, but the 21-year-old is finally putting
it together offensively.
And Bob Carrington is 20.
He's in his second year in the league.
And when you have players like this, it takes time to really ascend.
You have to look at it from a view of, what are they going to do three to five years in
their career?
You're in year two of Bob Carrington.
You're in year one of Trey Johnson.
You're in year one of Will Riley.
Still a year two of Kishon George.
There's a lot of these players on this team that have shown pretty significant strides,
but they still have a long way to go in terms of development, in terms of becoming their
true best NBA player self.
And to me, that gets too exciting about what the future is going to look like for some
of these players.
And especially two to three years from now, you hope to be a true contender in the Eastern
Conference.
Well, I'll set you over.
I think the unjust criticism that Bob gets kind of stems up the fact that you traded
Danny firm, at least from Wizards fans' perspectives, but the caveat.
Year two, Bob comparing him to year five, six of Evdia is just not fair.
And as a Wizards fan, you just have to be patient with the kid and that this regime
knows what they're doing when it comes to draft picks.
I'll say it again.
I love saying it.
When it comes to back in Old Dawkins, he hit on all three draft picks in a considered
labeled weak draft class.
So just give him some time.
And I think this shows why the Wizards organization traded up to get or traded their asset
and then Evdia at the time to acquire a guy like Bob Carrington.
You saw what he did in the ACC and his game will translate and best of all, he's able
to play.
There's no, you can't question the kid's heart.
He's going to go out there and give it his all.
And even despite having slumps throughout the season, he still goes out there and performs
at 110%.
Today was his 150th career NBA game in a row.
So he's played all 150 games of his career.
I think he's been maybe questionable for a couple, but ended up playing.
He's the modern day NBA Iron Man.
I think he's already top four, a top five, I believe, an active streak of games.
He's chasing Mikhail Bridges' record, right Ben?
Is that what is he at?
I don't know.
I just know that Mikhail Bridges doesn't miss games.
We're kind of in a sad state of the NBA, though, where people dismiss games all the time.
So Bob at 150 is already top of the league pretty much.
He's only been in the league for two years.
We don't have true Iron Man in the NBA right now.
So unless Bob Carrington becomes this revolutionary guy that's going to become the next cow-rippkin
of the NBA and never miss a game throughout his entire career, like a London Fletcher type.
Oh, cool.
That'd be pretty cool.
Yeah, man, London Fletcher did not miss a game in his whole career.
Pretty crazy.
It's a little famed, by the way, but we can have a discussion about that another time.
Durability and availability is an important aspect of a player.
And we harp on that a lot with a guy like Belal and SARS-Misplenty of time this year.
And when you're a team that's tanking like the Wizards are and they're focused on development
and not trying to really win these games, you're going to have players that miss time for
things that are pretty light.
If it was a playoff game, you'd see so many of these guys playing.
I don't know if Trey Young's recent injury would be a situation where if the playoff
game would he be out there, we didn't get any type of update on that.
I don't really expect to get an update till later in the week.
I think it's what Keith said.
But guys like Saur, guys like Kool-A-Balloy, if these were playoff game situations or they're
playing meaningful basketball, they're probably out there, but they're being precausious
right now.
There's no need to risk anything more serious happening because you remember what happened
with Halibur and when he had the calf issue, then that turns into a tornakil as you miss
an entire season with that.
So there's two, there's multiple levels to it.
You're having players out more than they probably should for the reason that they've been
playing the whole season pretty much and to be precausious.
Yeah, if there's any reason to pull out a player, even if it's a minor injury, Ben, the
Wizards are going to do it because again, they're just trying to enhance the development
of the younger guys, but you also want to make sure you put Trey Young to develop that
chemistry, but you also don't want to win too many games.
It's like you're doing too many things at one time, but you're just looking at the overall
mission.
We're seeing the lead out of the tunnel.
I think we have less than 15, less than 18, 17 games left to go, Ben, in the regular season.
These are like 15 games.
Wow, 15.
I'm a season goes by fast, Ben.
It's an exciting time knowing that this off season, we're flipping the switch.
There is no more intentionally trying to lose games.
There is no more, we're more worried about development.
We're going to go out there.
We're going to develop, but we're also going to go out there and compete and win games.
That's the best way to put it.
They're still going to be developing.
They're still going to be really young players, so don't expect them to be world beaters
in year number one of really trying to win, but you're going to be expected to win more
and look better while doing it.
That's the bottom line.
That's going to be exciting for next season.
We're almost there, everybody.
I know it's tough to watch some of these games sometimes, but we're getting toward the
end.
That's all I got to say.
All right.
When we come back, it is your opportunity to steal the show.

I made sure today we are ready to let it all out 13 losses in a row.
I understand it's still frustrated, but hey, love carrot and season high and 30 points
will arrive in another 20 piece JC my guy played today and I really we barely talked about
him, but 18.9 rebounds to assist one block.
You guys kind of understand why he when he's out there or he's when he's healthy and he's
a DMP.
There's a reason why because he's going to impact when he but tonight I think you needed
him because there was no key Sean the law Alex.
I mean, I'm looking at one, two, three, four, five, six, seven guys on this was rostered
were labeled out for today.
Let's let it all out guys uptown drain says yo, my brother in the muscle emoji.
The street continues, but Bob goes bananas six triples.
Bob parents and you can make the argument that he is the best three point shooter on this
team currently.
Now, I think it's going to be going back and forth between him and both trays.
Johnson is definitely a certified sniper and for me, seeing tray Johnson play alongside
tray young, it's kind of the same way when it comes to seeing tray play alongside the
law where they feed off of tray young's ability to create open shots and dictate the defense
and bring in help side or leave him and give him some space.
So I want it as much as I the criticism for tray Johnson is when it comes to not having
a bag or not being able to score as much as he should, I just want to see him play alongside
a really good point guard.
That's just something we didn't really have up until tray young, I traded here uptown
drain also says world Riley's improvement is showing each game.
I'm excited for well guys.
I think Ben and I obviously we tried our best to have him up going to the season, but we
just didn't know how his game would translate early on.
We thought it would take some time, but he's gotten better at every single game like we
had mentioned the numbers post also a great averaging 14 points per game at his size.
I love the spin move.
His jump shots only going to get better and defensively he provides you that length obviously
needs to get bigger and stronger and that will come in due time.
But man in a draft where in 2024, you picked Alex, Kishon and Bob, the next year tray
will junior walkins.
That is all guys that can impact the game of basketball.
Mr. Bombay too also says Riley getting consistent now.
You love to see it.
Z Pappy five was going on man.
Thank you guys.
41 of you in here.
Thank you for liking, commenting and subscribing to locked on wizards.
It's a Tuesday at 10 p.m. after the 13th loss I appreciate or 13 loss and right I appreciate
you guys.
Z Pappy says it's funny how teams always have to start us back at the end of the fourth
quarter to close us out.
I think it's just the competitive spirit that the wizards are trying to build here and
knowing that this is a Troy Piston's team that's if I'm looking at it right now six.
Oh, first in the Eastern Conference at 4919 almost at 50 wins and I understand the cake
on him went out with an injury early and Jalen Durin is a beast.
But without your wings and bill all in Kishon and Alex are no tray young.
These young guys went out there and put up a fight and that's what I love to see Z Pappy
also says Bob can she is underrated and nobody else on our team has his size and skill
said we look at everything he can't do finish but never talk about the things he can
do very well.
I agree a lot of fans and it's just every particular fan base.
They'll look at a young guy and talk about what he can't do but they kind of forget about
the things that he offers and his ability to shoot the mid-range shot but also get inside.
I think the one thing about finishing that Ben and I mentioned a lot is that he does struggle
or not struggle but he hesitates a lot when he's in the paint but I guess it's just a young
guy thing where you're just trying to create the best shot for you and maybe it's tough
finishing but that's just something that hopefully he can develop Mike's A248.
I'm going to try to get to everyone's comic guys so bear with me.
Bob could easily be a sophomore college this year.
He was the youngest freshman in the ACC since Brad Doherty hopefully pronounced that name
right.
I probably butchered it.
I got to search up Brad after this but yeah Bob's a young guy guys just turned 20 years
old and this past year or I think it was before the season started.
He did lose his father.
You just have to be patient with the young kids man.
They're called WizKids for a reason.
There's no point in rushing the development.
Back, back set 2014.
I hope to God the BAM game seals keeps faith.
He's a fine AHC, he has not had coach material.
Let me ask you guys just 41 of you guys in here.
Drop in the comment section right now or in the chat.
What are your current thoughts on head coach Brian Keeve?
Is there a possibility where who will be retained for next season?
Do you think he's just a bridge guy, a tank commander?
Some would say, do you think the wizard need to go out there and get a legit head coach
and Mike Malone in this off season?
I've seen some, the way I see it to start off the season, the way the wizards played,
there was more talk about him just not knowing what he was doing and there really wasn't
any meaningful development.
But then you see the emergence of year two, Alex Hard, then you see Tray Johnson, and then
you see recently Belal Coolabali.
It's tough to evaluate his coaching because what he's essentially assigned to do, where
it's you want to develop your young guys, but also you don't win too many games.
It's just a lot to handle when it's a lot to handle on your play and I understand he's
a head coach, he gets paid to do this, but I defend him because I want to give him
the benefit of the doubt.
But I want to see how this team does next season when there is no top eight cloud protection
pick over this organization that there is and there is no incentive to tank that next
year you have to go out there and play meaningful basketball.
Bridges 729 games, college and NBA playoff series, Tony Stark, yes sir, okay, so that's
the number.
I definitely have to keep that in mind, let's see, let's see, Ronald senior 7 7 was going
on man.
He says above a shooting guard just like Tray Johnson, above just a better combo shooting
guard.
And I'll say one thing for sure, like I always say, the point guard position, it's hard
to play in the NBA is even hard for a young guy to get right at it at such a young age.
The combo guard role is suited well for Bob Carrington.
So we'll just have to see in year three his development and we're hoping to see how
he can get into the painted area and be able to finish in the painted area.
AJ 5 2 says, no, I need the above hate to continue.
Yeah, I guess the above hate, I understand it was in a slump.
It was tough watching it, but I always try to give the benefit of the doubt to the young
guys.
It's one of my favorite things benefit of the doubt because when the kids so young,
it's okay to make mistakes because you are going to learn from it.
The puppy also says, well, Riley is a certified bucket indeed.
Uptown Dre says, it's a great situation, I have a plethora of young talent, we're going
to need them when we load, manage, train 80 during next season, playoff push.
Next season, guys, I'm hoping that this team makes the plan, especially if, excuse me,
they land a top three pick.
Jed 5 0 6, what's going on, buddy?
He says, bill par sells is famous for the quote, you are what your record says you are.
Indeed, it is year three of this rebuild and you're going to finish bottom three in
the NBA.
I think right now they are, they have a second worst team in the NBA and they're right
above the Sacramento Kings.
I don't think they can take that spot from the Kings because the Kings are just awful.
But who knows, things might get tight.
We'll see how many more games, let me ask you guys, when do you see the losing streak
ending right now?
They're at 13 and the schedule coming up, I think is pretty tough if I'm not mistaken.
And the Wizards obviously are dealing with a plethora of injuries with recently
Trayong and Kishon's, I think, out for another week or two and there's just no reason to
put these guys at risk at another injury.
So we'll just have to see.
But I think with that being said, I tried to get everyone's comments.
I appreciate you guys for staying locked into another post game show for our beloved
