Will the defense force the Bills offense to step up

Of course I do. I mean, the impact that you want to have is a head coach on a team and a community. That's one thing. But man, oh, man, the impact that that team, that building and that community had on me and my family, we'll remember that for the rest of our lives. That's part of sports, right? The wins and the losses are important, but it's like the impact you leave or that is left on people and the fan base and them on you.

1:03And that's the real part of sports. Sean McDermott on with Rich Eisen. I am not close enough to him to know any of this. But I would say from almost a decade of listening to him and talking with him many times, he could be good at that. If he wanted to sort of give into it. I mean, he could be good at it. There would be nothing, there'd be no hot take, or he, that we would hate him for. Anybody like that, that, you know, all the Stephen A. Smiths in the world, you just can never believe that they actually mean what they're saying. Sadly, the top McAfee, no interest. Like I just never believe what they're saying. It's just no. But here's a guy, I mean, who's more convincing than McDermott? You know, if he says something, as a coach, he sometimes was, many times,

2:03was reticent to overdo it, of course. But I think if he were willing to just sort of, you know what, I'm just gonna be real. I think he could be great if he wanted to. I think he could be right. I think he wants, I think he's gonna want to go back on the field. He's 100% gonna coach. I mean, I provided the appropriate opportunity, you know, is available this off season. I can't foresee a scenario where he's not back coaching. Tomlin's made the jump. Tomlin is part of this NBC Sunday night thing. He seems really good. And he's, yeah, he seems good. I didn't, you know, they did some awkward stuff with him in my opinion anyway. At that Hall of Fame game, where like his first interview, they're like walking across the field. Like, just stop, stop, stop, stop walking. Stop walking. Sit down. Sit down. Sit down. Sit down. Sit down. I don't care where we're gonna go. But yeah, but maybe even Hill only do it for a year. This might just be a pit stop for him. But I don't know, but McDermott to me is, yeah,

Maybe he'd like to do that again. Would he be a great college coach or is it too dirty? I think probably too dirty. Okay, I think, yeah. Boy, I would hate that for him. His kind of messaging though. Yeah. Had it like a big, it doesn't matter how big. Like at college, at Penn State, or wherever, like, couldn't that really work? Like maybe a great stereotypically perhaps fit. I think it could and certainly the money is good and the big jobs are big jobs, but still he's, he's in the NFL. I don't know if I think that all NFL jobs are above a job like that. And I think financially they're definitely not. No, I think that's right. That's right. But it's more status for being in,

4:08like if you look at NFL coach that goes back to college is going back to college because he is somehow damaged. Harmoa did it. Yup. Want a national championship? Yup. At his alma mater. And he was not, he wasn't, there was no, you know, he wasn't, oh, he's got a, I don't think he was damaged. There was no scandal, right? There was scandal in college. Eventually. Well, that's inevitable. Certainly, yeah. That's why I don't, yeah. Where you started is where I think I end up. I cannot seem to dermit integrating into that universe in any way shape. I might like action on this. We decided, real quick, and then to the phones. We decided, we had conversation about this once, where he coaches next year. And you said it first. We both thought like the Eagles, right? We're the team. They have to implode first. Yes, they do. And if they don't, I mean, there were tender so jobs that came open this year. But some of them stink.

But a job like Penn State or some top, some power school would call, like they would want to know if he's available. He would be a candidate. If he wanted such a job, he would easily be a candidate. I think that that's right. You want to put it on the board? I don't think he's, you think he'll never coach in college football? I don't want to say never. You could get 20 years from now after his next gig. Right. Go like Bellaget, you know, just to sort of keep doing it or something. But I don't think his next job is at all. I know I you're thinking Penn State. I think it's just totally a vibe saying he just looks like he would probably coach there. And I'm a huge McDermott fan. I can't deny that. I'm hearing that. Hearing him, hearing him talk on the item show, I didn't hear that until just now. I miss him and quench early enough. I'm calling to say our offense might be better without him because I was listening to you guys the other day. And I think it was talk about, you know, player props over under touchdowns yards, all that stuff. And one point that doesn't get brought up a ton. I've heard it before, but not as much as I would imagine as our new defensive coordinator from what I understand is more feast or famine, which to me

8:15creates more possessions for our offense, which I think lifts everybody. Well, you know, I think you're right to say that it should be talked about. I think really for me, if it's not the same point, it's that they're gonna play a tough schedule. And whether they want to or are forced into it that there should be more volume passing, you know, potential for big days from their offense because of it. I don't think the bills or any team really wants that. They want, the bills for the last two years are I think pretty classic example of it working perfectly for you, which is, you know, you've got a great quarterback, but you want to keep them out of trouble. And you're running back plays every week and your offense align everybody plays every week and you know, you get home. This year, I think they'll have a much tougher time doing that with even with DJ Moore, because of who they're playing. And maybe that's, maybe it's a McDermott point, we'll see.

9:19But I'm expecting Alan has come down and touched down passes five years in a row. It's kind of amazing that literally five years in a row he's had fewer than the year before. I'm expecting that streak to end. I'm not sure I want to push in on over stats when it comes to any player because of injury risk and that.
