For 18 months, the Securities and Exchange Commission has been weighing how to finalize its climate risk disclosure rule. California may have just helped clear the path for the Wall Street regulator with its own landmark legislation. But it’s not clear whether the SEC will follow California's lead or go its own way. POLITICO’s Jordan Wolman breaks down how California’s legislation could impact the SEC’s rulemaking process.
