Local people, local stories. This is the all-local from 10-10 wins.
I'm Kathleen Marple-Calb and here are today's top local stories.
While there is no indication of any immediate threat here, New York leaders are keeping an eye on it.
Governor Hocal has participated in table top exercises
as part of preparation for threats to New York in light of events in Iran.
Our energy sources, hydro, electric power plants, nuclear plants,
you know, transportation corridors, our airports, our subways.
She gets updates every half hour. All emergency personnel are involved.
All hands on deck.
Yes, every single person who has a role to play in the state of New York has been activated.
And they're working in tandem with the NYPD response and intelligence to coordinate safety plans
and response. Julia Papa, 10-10 wins on 92-3 FM.
Well, what next for Bronx Week?
Burrow leaders are looking for ways to find a way to keep it going after the shock cancellation
announcement. Tenemun's Glenn Schuck is following the story.
Bronxboro President Gibson blamed the economic uncertainty for what she calls a difficult
decision to cancel the events that are held every May.
Third Avenue bid executive director Pedro Suarez telling 10-10 wins.
Alternate events can be worked out. In fact, they're already working on it.
We're planning on activating Roberto Clemente Plaza with music and other types of community
building. We haven't branded it as Bronx Week in the past, but there's no reason why we can't
this year. That music tours, parades, cultural events. Suarez says they have to happen in some form.
Bronx Week has always been a staple, you know, despite, you know, the fire from the 1970s to the
great recession to the pandemic. The fact that this event has never been canceled before.
And he says in some shape or form, the Bronx will be celebrated.
Glenn Schuck 10-10 wins. 92-3 FM.
And N-Y-P-D officers recovering after being hit in the head in the subway station in the Bronx.
This happened just before 530 last night at the Fordham Road Station in the Fordham section.
Police officers had tracked down a 41-year-old man wanted for an assault earlier in the day
as they approached him. He threw something at the officer hitting him in the head.
The officer was taken to the hospital with a minor laceration. I got away. No rest so far.
New Yorkers had plenty to say at last night's rental ripoff hearing in Astoria.
The number one complaint left Brax City tenant leader Julianne Williams here should sound familiar
to many New Yorkers. The rent is too damn high, you know, especially for tenants who are coming in now.
Another renter in Astoria said with new management, her rent went up 50 percent.
It's unfair and it seems like they're trying to press us out so that they can get newer people
into these apartments that are willing to pay these ridiculous prices.
See a weaver heads Mayor Mom Donney's revitalized office to protect tenants.
The information that we're collecting is going to inform some of the police policy decisions
that the administration hopes to make. With a housing plan to be released in late spring or summer,
Marla Diamond, 1010 wins on 92 three-ap them in Astoria.
It was the Mem Donney administration's second hearing on tenant issues.
A hit-and-run tragedy in Brownsville, Brooklyn, a little boy killed.
When people coming in and out of Brookdale hospital were saddened to learn about what happened
to this four-year-old, he was hit by a Ford SUV right here but couldn't be saved.
That's a driver. When you get your driver license, the person they say,
look out for the pedestrians.
That Ford SUV took off North on Lyndon Boulevard.
Sources say the four-year-old was with his mother and ran off on church avenue when he was hit.
Royston and Twine saw a lot of blood and thought someone had been shot.
Because that's a usual thing, you know. You see people looking at us and
somebody get shot. But unfortunately, it was a car accident.
It's a hit-and-run and the person didn't start.
Macros and Burke 1010 wins on 92 three-ap them in Brownsville.
New tariffs, new challenge. Democratic governors and attorneys general for some two-dozen states
suing over the global tariffs president Trump imposed after a Supreme Court ruling
over turning his first tariff plan. New York AG Letitia James says the president is trying to make
an end-run around the high court.
The stability of our economy is more than just a political talking point.
It is imperative to improving the daily lives of working families.
And most importantly, it is foundational to our democracy.
That is why we are asking the court to declare these tariffs unlawful.
The president says the tariffs are essential to reduce the nation's long-standing trade deficits.
He used a different law to impose the 15% levies after the Supreme Court ruling.
Oregon's attorney general says the focus should be on paying people back for the original
levies not doubling down. The White House is promising a vigorous court defense.
There are disturbing allegations against a Long Island doctor.
Authorities say the 71-year-old doctor was in an exam room with a patient when he sexually
abused her during a routine oncology appointment in New Hyde Park.
Dr. Mark Hoffman's office is now closed. The doctor was charged with sexual abuse and
forceful touching. Police say the 48-year-old victim and the doctor were alone in the exam room.
Detectives say if there are any other victims, too, please come forward.
Sophie, a whole 10-10 wins, a 92-3 FM on the Long Island.
New York, for the win.
Head of the FIFA World Cup, the American Museum of Natural History,
is starting a new exhibit featuring what it calls artifacts of sports excellence,
spanning a century and a half. Visiting curator Vicki Tobak tells 10-10 wins,
there's some really cool stuff. We have like the 2024 New York Liberty WNBH
Championship trophy. We also have a ring from one of their star athletes. We have the giant
Super Bowl ring. We have a crown that was presented to Yogi Berra by Babe Ruth in the 70s.
The exhibit also includes one of Jesse Owens gold medals for the 1936 Berlin Olympics.
It opens on May 15th. A little Bronx girl has a heck of a story to tell about her birthday.
Thanks to a bunch of NYPD officers. The front of Kashana Leguet's building in the Bronx
quickly turned into a delivery room when her water broke and she realized this baby was coming now.
A lot going through my mind. I was nervous. I had like a lot of feelings.
Officers Keanu Philip and Rodney Remi were among the several who helped deliver the baby on a
cot. I assume the position of holding her head. Officers are in position of waiting for the baby.
Others have held her hand. Last second, I don't know why. I just took off my camera and I just
gave one of the officers my hate. This is my jacket. Just make sure the baby has it.
Baby Zenovia is doing well and her middle name is Remi. Macros and Berk 10-10 wins on 92-3 FM.
Well, some Gen Z fellows are apparently nursing 19th century views. A new survey shows 31% of Gen Z
men believe a wife should always obey her husband and a third believe hubby should have the final
word and important decisions. Researchers for Ipsos and the Global Institute for Women's Leadership
at London's Kingsbury Trought Business College pulled some 20,000 people of all ages in 29
countries ahead of International Women's Day this Sunday. And it turns out the olds are a lot
more progressive than the zoomers. But also over 30-10 to favor women's equality. Young men
apparently want the ladies to go back to the kitchen. It's unclear exactly where they will find
these women since there doesn't seem to be a corresponding wave of obedient young women.
