Hello everybody, welcome on in.
It's a new week here on Betting Weekly WTA.
It's your number one tennis-bending podcast and YouTube show.
Bought you in association with our sponsors, Betrivers.
I'm Nigel CB, your host and joining me to go through the draw, the bracket,
the best odds on the market and having a look at the outright picks.
It's our WTA handicap, it's Tim Dennis.
Good morning Tim, how are you?
Good morning Nigel, yeah, I'm very well, thank you.
How are you, you're back in the UK now?
Obviously a little bit more back to normal life, I hope.
Yeah, well, good mate.
Yeah, it's nice to be back.
Seems ages ago that we previewed the tournament in Dubai.
I mean, it seems like a lifetime ago.
I've stopped there for eight days, felt like about 80 days.
But it was a weird experience.
But it seems like a long time ago since we spoke.
Yeah, absolutely.
Obviously we've had that Indian Wells has been and gone now.
And we've got Miami look forward to.
And we can talk about the Indian Wells final in a minute.
But yeah, what a final that was and we've got another back to back.
Masters thousands went in slightly different conditions,
but heading on to Miami for this week.
So another big tournament to get stuck into.

If you have been following our picks this year on the official picks on this show.
We're minus 2.59 units, but there's a big, but lots of outright picks didn't go into that figure.
Because we didn't have odds at the time.
Including 50 to one shots and eight to one shots and various different big prices.
Well, and also if you followed us on our socials last week in Indian Wells app.
Because we win on our socials on Instagram and Twitter.
You would have been cash in tickets left right in center.
Because I think Tim had 100% straight weight on the matches just last week in Indian Wells on the Instagram.
So congratulations.
Thanks, Nadia.
Good week.
A little bit of caveat to that.
Rebecca now actually let us down in the final for 100%.
But I think we went three from four and some good winners there.
I think they were sort of plus 130 plus 104 and perhaps plus 120.
I think so.
Three out of four.
So not too bad.
If you were if you're back in those, you'd be well in front.
So we shouldn't complain too much.
But even though she we're back in the process.
She had a match point, didn't she?
But but wasn't able to take it in there.
And several anchors took that so.
But yeah, a good week on Instagram and any any matches we can can't cover on here will will look to cover on there.
So yeah, definitely keeping on that.
You lots of great content as well.
We had the winner of the golf from Mike Carver.
Simon Holden gave a couple of one place as well, a big price as well.
So it was a good week for us on our socials app because we win.
If you're on Instagram, give us a follow there as well.
Okay, let's all about this week before we go into this week though.
You touched on it at the top of the show.
What a final it was yesterday.
The top two players in the world without a question of doubt now.
Subbellinka and Revike and I put out an absolutely fantastic final yesterday in Indian Wells.
Revike and I failed to take one match point.
Subbellinka fought back from a set love down and a match point to take it.
And there is no doubt for me now at the moment.
These are the top two players.
The rankings are showing them as number one and number two.
This week, they're not though.
We come on to that in a minute.
But what a final.
What a take.
What do you take out that final?
You know, the gap between them at the moment, especially in these hard calls.
He's big, isn't it?
Yeah, it is certainly with Subbellinka.
She's so consistent on these hard courts to her record speaks for itself.
She just seems to make final after final, whether it's slams, thousands, whatever it may be.
She is probably the woman to be on these hard courts.
And I think she did well to win there yesterday because I think there was.
There was a case of her almost wanting these titles too much because she has bolted in a few finals.
We've seen lately.
So, so she did well to take that.
Rebiken and Mike.
Well, I think this with his one might have just slipped through her graphs.
She was pretty much unplayable in that first set.
Rebiken wasn't she.
And then, and then she broke Subbellinka very early on in the in the first set.
But, but then I think Subbellinka won the next four games to take a break lead of herself.
And she managed to take that set.
And Rebiken.
I had those match points.
But I mean, I don't think they're quite as far clear as sort of the Alcarazans.
The Alcarazans are on the men's side.
But they are definitely that the two to be aren't they?
And they've definitely.
Distance and from themselves and the others.
And I think that they're.
They're very consistent solid level that their level is certainly a level above.
I think pretty much every other player on the on the planet is those two are.
I'm definitely a step ahead, I think.
Yeah, I mean, it's they I think they had a top two in the world.
And I do believe that the gap between them and is growing not so much as obviously.
Sinner and Alcarazans as you say.
But it's reflected in the odds and I'm quite surprised by deals which would come on to in a little while.
Just give you a couple of quiz questions before I go.
I only thought it's Abelinka's bidding to win the Sunshine Double and defend her title here in Miami.
Do you know the four players who've successfully done the Sunshine Double?
Well, you might have stumped me here.
I'm going to say Serena Williams must be one.
No.
No.
No, okay.
Well, I'll be already stepping right.
Actually, actually, oh, yes.
I don't know.
No, she hasn't done it.
She hasn't done it.
It's only four.
But we've done it.
No, she hasn't done it.
Okay, Steffi graph.
Steffi graph done it twice in 94.
96.
Okay.
Martin and Avastolova.
Nope.
Okay.
Okay.
I'm going to tell you.
Ega Shron take did it in 2022.
As a rink.
I did it in 2016.
Kim Closh is in 20 2005.
Steffi grasped it in 94 and 96.
They're the only people to win the Sunshine Double and Arena's Abelinka.
He's doing looking to do that and defend her title.
Here is the list of the previous winners in Miami.
Sabelinka won it last year.
But Jessica Guder in the final.
Daniel Collins shocked everyone winning in 2024.
Beat Robiocon in that final.
Petra Kavitava won it in 2023.
I bet her 100 to one.
That year was out there.
Better 100 to one.
She won the title.
Myself and Wajewana gave up on the show.
She won it.
She beat Robiocon again in the final.
Shron take one in 2022.
The year that she did.
The Sunshine Double.
Ash Bart in 21 back to back winning in 2019.
She was the last person to defend her title.
If you give the COVID years.
There was no 2020.
Someone seemed as one in 2018.
Another shock.
Joanna Conta.
Another shock in 2017.
A victory as a rink.
In 2016.
So there are some like players in there that.
You know, you would expect Sabelinka to do it.
She wants it.
The minute party to do it.
But there is a tournament that gives you a few shocks as well.
What trend have you got for a show?
A show?
That's him.
Sorry.
Yeah, looking at a few trends.
I mean, I think only one unceded player has won this event in the past 10 years.
And that was Danielle Collins back in.
In 2024.
And you might put a little bit of an extract by that just because.
Collins.
I think she was on a little bit of a break.
And Mr.
Few torments within you there.
So that's probably why she was unceded.
So you can maybe take that with a little bit of a pinch of salt.
Only two number one seeds have won this event in the past 10 years.
They were a rena Sabelinka last year.
And Ash Barty back in 2021.
Just looking at conditions for a start here as well.
They're obviously much quicker here than.
They were in Indian Wells last week with with these hard courts being some of the.
The quickest conditions these plays are going to face all year as far as hard courts go.
So yeah, those are a few trends to look at.
And certainly conditions a little bit different from what they experienced in Indian Wells.
Yeah, I think the most important thing to take.
I've been very lucky to be here.
Be to this talk three times before.
And since James Blake took over as a tournament director.
He's tried to make it quicker.
And it moved obviously from the venues to the to the.
Where the the maybe dolphins player, the hard rock stadium.
Which is going to be host for the World Cup quarter final.
I think they get there against Brazil, which is going to be interesting as well there.
But they've it's been a lot quicker.
And the outside courts are really, really, really fast compared to the main court.
You know, the sun is shining to the moon.
It's very similar to the sun shines on the court.
And obviously the main court is it's half of the football pitch.
And the sun gets across it quite a lot.
And it's not so quick.
And in the in the evening, it is a little bit cooler as well.
But the weather is going to play havoc.
And it's going to change throughout the week.
And obviously yesterday was rained off.
And the next three or four days are pretty dreadful, don't they?
Yeah, I think organizers are going to have a little bit of a headache here.
There's some of the qualifying matches that were due to take place were completely washed out.
So I think they've now got to try and get the the WTA qualifiers and the ATP qualifiers all done in the on the one day today.
But but yeah, as far as the weather looking ahead, I mean, it doesn't look great.
Certainly very unlike Miami.
I think I think Tuesday and Wednesday forecast rain on both days.
Only conditions in the low 70s temperatures.
Thursday at the moment looks dry but still very cool low 70s.
And I think they've got rain again on Friday before.
I think Saturday looks to sort of get a little bit warm and hopefully a little bit drier.
But I think certainly that the early part of the week.
I think organizers are going to have have their hands full here with with rain forecast.
And I think players are going to looking like they're going to be on and off the court at quite consistent levels here.
Because yeah, far from far from usual Miami weather, I think for this time of year.
Yeah, when it rained to it really rains.
I've got caught in a couple of terrible terrible razors on rain like I've never seen.
But then all of a sudden it's sunny.
So you know, you might you might have interruptions.
But you probably would get drive very, very quickly with the humidity.
And the other thing I would say to you here as well is that obviously the rain changed.
It might not play as quick as what it has done over the last few years.
So the weather forecast is going to play a huge, huge part.
It has been very, very hot in the years I've been there.
And it doesn't seem to be as hot as that until the latter part of the week.
So first round may be different to what it plays in in the second week.
Obviously, this is a draw of 128 players.
The top 32 seats all receive buys through to round number two.
And obviously there's some dangerous opponents along the way.
But these are the projected routes to the latter stages.
And you can see them on screen there.
So I won't go into them in all much detail.
But what I'll do is say in Q1, if it goes to the seed in Sabalinka will play Jasmine Powell.
Jasmine Powell, he was a beaten semi-finalist last year.
Sabalinka's defending champion and the world number one in great form as well.
If you look at the second part of the draw, and that's the interesting thing.
Sabalinka and Rebecca and I even though the number one and number two in the world are in the top half of the draw,
Rebecca and a CD3 this week, despite the new world ranking of number two,
which will come into effect after this tournament.
Rebecca and I will play Jessica Bagoula.
Other than that, really in those draws,
I don't think there's really much in the way of the main sort of fight.
The top three there, Sabalinka, Rebecca and Jessica Bagoula getting through
two of the semi-finals apart from maybe fatigue on Sabalinka and Rebecca's front.
Let's have a look at the bottom half of the draw.
The bottom half of the draw seems Annie Simover.
She will play Coco Gough in all the American quarter-final.
I'm just standing in a way, being a Noshkaver, I suppose.
Not Ben Chico's a bit of form.
The rest of them, that looks very comfortable section as well.
In Q4, we'll see Miran Draver and Ega Shromtake.
And I would argue that's probably the most difficult quarter of the lot,
with Unbuku's in good form.
The conditions will suit her.
Mukavos, Capel of Black Beat and anybody on her day.
Towson and the emergence of Ilya, who got to the semi-finals here as well
and has points to defend.
Let's have a look at some odds with Bet Rivers.
This is the outright market to win the tournament outright.
And Sabalinka is plus 220.
Rebecca and her is plus 350.
Bet Rivers are taking no chances whatsoever on the top two.
They want to keep them as short as they possibly can.
They are fearing Anal Kharaz and Sinner kind of event here.
Ega Shromtake is also very short at plus 450.
So the combined odds between the top three there is approaching sort of very heavy minus money.
So they look at, they believe that those three will dominate this week.
I'm not so sure about that.
Let's have a look at the other contenders, Annie Simover is 11 in a bit of a lump of form.
Coco Gough, 11, Miran Draver, 11 Jessica Begula, 13.
Victoria and Buku, 13.
Svitilina, 25.
Mertens, 40.
40 to 1 keys.
And 50 to 1.
Mukava, Nishikava, Arca and 66 to 1 bar.
Those players.
We also have some quarter making as well.
But before we go into the quarter betting, let's have a look at these odds here.
From the draw, first of all.
I mean, you've got Rebecca, you've got Sabalinka drawing the top half.
So I suppose, first of all, we've got to probably look at the bottom half to try to find someone who can come through and land the each way part of it.
I suppose that's the first logical way of looking at it.
Yeah, I don't know about you, Nigel.
I was watching that final last night and during that final, my first, my first thoughts where I want to take on these two this week.
Obviously, if we've spoken there before, only four people have won this sort of sunshine double.
So it's clearly a difficult thing to do, but I thought we're biking and might be the sort of.
The more the more of those two, perhaps a jeopardy through this week and more so than Sabalinka, but having said that it obviously is very difficult for me to do.
But I think I certainly want to be away from the top two.
And like you said, that top half does look with those two in it.
You probably want to be looking towards the bottom half.
And I think I actually like one in Q4 and I actually would like one from the top half.
So I think we're probably going to take one from both, but just looking at the bottom half first in Boko is the one I did quite like it plus 1300.
You mentioned that section being being a little bit difficult Q4, but I think Sriancek, even though she's won this sunshine double.
And she obviously won Wimbledon last year, whether these conditions might just be on the slick side throw.
I thought she looked good at the start of the week.
She was one of the winners we put up on the on the Instagram page.
But then she went, I think when she'd be muck of her, she's due to meet her in the last 16 here.
So that that should be she no stress for her.
But yeah, and Boko, I think Andreva, she had a difficult last year.
And she should look to be having a few issues with the crowd walking off court, becoming a little bit difficult to root for.
And even she certainly showing that she is a teenager and perhaps she is finding life a little bit difficult.
And Boko, she hasn't played here, but these conditions should suit her.
She's obviously shown some decent form in the in the middle east this year on quick court since the conditions.
And yeah, I thought of plus 1300 from the book from the opposite half to a bad guy.
And Savalenko, that's where I wanted to be going.
I don't know what you thought.
I liked and Boku a lot.
I think she's showing signs of a real talent 19 years of age.
She won a home tournament last year.
Hits the ball so hard, a confidence player.
It started off the year well.
I think her form is really good.
Final of Adelaide, which she got beat by Andreva.
Got beat by Savalenko and Australian Open.
Got beat by Savalenko again in Indian Wells.
Beat Anisam over 6461, a very easy win there.
I got beat in the final in Doha, one muck of her.
So she's reached two high court finals.
And in the Australian Open in Indian Wells, the only person who's beat her is the Manorway World number one.
So that suggests that she could easily, easily reach that, easily reached the final here.
I think it's quite a difficult section.
I mean, Andreva will be a fade for me.
And Boku will play Kenning in Round 2, which is not easy with home support.
I expect her to get through there.
But then she runs into Ega Shrantek.
And that is the one that I think in the quarter finals.
But if you look at Ega Shrantek at plus 450, and you look at Boku at 13,
I don't think there'll be much between the two of them in the quarter final.
If they played, obviously the conditions are going to be key.
If it's a hot day on scheduling, you've got a fancy in Boku in the quicker conditions.
But obviously it's a night match.
I think you would fancy Shrantek.
I wanted a little bit more than 13.
If I was brutally honest with you, I think the prizes put me off a little bit.
I'd want about 16 to 1.
But I do think she's going to have a very deep run.
I think she's primed to win a big tournament again.
And I suppose the question about what we have to have, I mean,
we come onto the top half in a minute, but I really suppose it's
how much is that final going to take out of Sabalinka and Rebecca?
You mentioned about Rebecca, but Sabalinka as well, you know,
it's very hard to win these two tournaments.
Very, very difficult.
So it could be a time to fade the top three.
And I would rather, you know, if I was doing the book for that rivers,
I'd want to go a little bit bigger to attract money on the top three.
I don't want to, I don't want them on my side.
I'd rather, I'd rather take them on the field on my side.
If you're going to get the top three beat, I think this is the kind of
where you can get and beat.
Yeah, I would agree with that.
I think if this tournament was perhaps taking place before Indian Wells
and Indian Wells was the second of these two, you might be saying something different there,
but obviously it isn't.
And this is the second event.
And yeah, I want to, I certainly want to be against the top two in the market.
And the fact that Aegis Shrantek is third in makes me want to be against the top three in the market there.
So just looking through the sides of the jaws where we want to be.
I think certainly in Boko for me in the bottom half there.
Noscow replace him at some pretty decent stuff.
But when, when the level was up there, she was, she was found wanting.
Goff looks to be still miles away.
I think she served.
I think she played two games either last week or the week before.
I think she served 17 double faults in two games.
So she's still clearly got massive issues.
I thought Anna Savova was, it was a possible.
But yeah, plus at 1100 probably a little bit on the shorter side for me.
And so yeah, and Boko certainly for me in the bottom half.
And like I said, we'll talk about that top half in a minute.
But again, like you, I was hoping for sort of perhaps.
Plus, plus 1600 maybe, but I think 1300 is probably still just about acceptable.
Because I've been interesting to see if.
And Boko does play Sri on tech and.
I guess.
Conditions day and night matches might be slightly different.
But let's say, let's say that was a day match and Boko Sri on tech.
What price do you think Sri on tech?
Sean's probably going to be favorite isn't she?
Yeah, she, I think she'll be about minus.
If it was a day match, I don't think that it would really much change.
Really, but it should change, right?
I think you should want to probably be around about minus 150 minus 160 to beat.
And Boko Boko be about plus 110, 120.
I think she should be underdog.
And you can tell really by some, if you look at the quarter betting,
which we've got a little bit of Q4.
Sri on tech is plus 170 to win Q4 Victoria and Boko is the second favorite plus 350 to win Q2.
So that shows you that Sri on tech is still the most likely to make the semi, the semi finals.
Mukaver is more likely than an Andrava $5 and Mukaver and Andrava is out to plus 5 to plus 550.
So really, the Andrava, you know, the loving that we had for her that she might challenge the top four.
She's in, she's the one who's on the rank, the ratings of the ranking to plus.
She's moved back.
And at this moment in time, Muka would start an overwhelming favor against Andrava.
If you look at the quarter betting, but that's not really much reflected on the, the outright betting.
Where Andrava is still a shorter price on the outright market to beat Muka.
So that suggests that Muka is a little bit of value on the outright market.
If you look at Q3, if you look at the Q, the quarter betting Q3, that's very competitive.
And this and over is plus 250.
Golf is plus 260.
Benchik is six dollars.
So the two Americans have it between them there.
Let's move on to the top of the draw.
You said you had a little bit of interest in the top of the draw.
There's a little somebody I quite like there if it's quick.
But we'll come on to that.
I mean, I've got another quiz question for you though.
Another quiz question for you.
There are only four players who have won this tournament in action this week.
Who are the four players?
Four players who won this in action this week.
There must be Saberlenker.
Yep.
Correct.
Igor Sviontek.
Correct.
Did I see Sloan Stevens in qualifying?
Correct.
Correct.
And one more.
And one more.
Venus Williams.
I'm going to have to rush.
Venus Williams.
Four out of four.
You get an extra point for that.
She won the tournament back in 1998.
Almost, you know, what's that?
Yeah.
It's incredible.
No, there's many sports where you won a tournament 30, almost 28 years ago.
You still plan in the tournament.
But it Venus Williams is in action.
Let's move up to the top end of the market where obviously Saberlenker and
Robi can dominate the market.
If we look at the draw.
I think you, I think you won.
I think a 50% fit Saberlenker can get through to at least the quarter final.
And obviously Paola, and he's not playing well.
Oster Penco went.
Truss Vittalina.
She's got.
Going to be running on empty at the moment.
Q 2 he got.
Rebecca the there as Alex and Trevor radicano.
Redicano could.
30.
And I'll English.
The British.
If somebody cartell.
If someone cartell wins.
Oh, first round.
It would be interesting.
And Jessica Cuella who's done us a favor as well.
I'll win in the tournament over in Dubai as well.
What do you.
What do you like here?
Yeah, our girl, Jess Pagula, who's done us a favour already this year, she's got a really
good record here, Pegula. She obviously lost in the final here last year. I think she
made the quarterfinals in 2024, the semis in 2023, and obviously she won that tournament
in Dubai earlier in the year and pretty similar conditions. I think she equaled her best
finish last week in Indian Wells when she lost in the quarterfinals to a bike and she
was well beaten in the first set, but lost a close second set in a tie break and she'd
only made the quarterfinals at Indian Wells once before and previously she'd been beaten
in the first round there as well. So yeah, equalling her best record there at Indian Wells,
I think she's still in pretty decent form and coming to a tournament where she clearly
goes extremely well and I think she's probably playing the best tennis of her career right
now and clearly loves it here. So yeah, I think plus 1300, I wanted to take her in the
top half as well. That section is she's obviously going to meet one of those, those perhaps
Rebiking and Savalinga, she might have to beat to get to the final, but I mean Rebiking
is, she's not got the easiest task, she's got, she's got chances, she'll meet Kostya
early on, either Eva Jovich will know me or Sarka, perhaps a little bit later and then
perhaps Paglia in the quarterfinals. So yeah, like I did say, I wanted to be against Rebiking
of this week having put in such an almighty effort last week and I don't think she's as much
as I'm a bigger fan of her, I don't think she's probably the perhaps the most robust
player capable of sort of going deep back to back weeks. So I think if this wasn't a
master's thousand, she'd almost certainly wouldn't be here. The fact that it is, it's
why she's here, but yeah, I think Paglia, she's obviously got a great record here,
goes really well and I think playing the best team after a life, I want to, I want to
take her in that top half as well. Yeah, I see where I just look, I look at the top
of the draw and it's like, especially in that first quarter, you've got Savalinga, you
got, can we Jane, you've got Madison Key, Savalinga should get through to the, to the
quarterfinals, but the second part of Q1 is so weak, you have Svitalina, I know Svitalina
is playing well, but yeah, I just think she's, I don't think it'd be too quick for her
here. And also, I think she's played a lot of tennis. I think she's a fight this week.
You've got Sampsona, who's playing absolutely terrible tennis and I think she lost the
last three matches, you know, in long matches as well. She says, see where she's something
more, some, some, some, some son of a, she's going to drop outside of top 32 very quickly.
Oster Penta, who is in awful form and Jasmine Pauline, you've got a lot of points to defend
here. I can't, I can't have it all. So you're going to get someone at a very, very big
price or shock, I think, getting the quarterfinals there. And if Savalinga, you know, does get
beat early, you could, you could open up that top bit really, really, very interesting.
And some of them, I think, might do well at a big problem. Not saying she's going to win
it, but some of them, I think, could go deep in the tournament, might be worth having
a look at in match bets. He's Taylor Townsend. She's playing well Taylor Townsend.
So it got beaten a second round of Indian Wells, but one, three matches in qualification.
She got to the final of Austin, where she got beat by Peyton Sterns in the final. But
I think a big price she could, she calls a couple of shocks. I think she can be Jasmine
Pauline, a big price. I think, so if you can get, I think she's about 500 to one. I
might be worth a little dollar, dollar each way or something, because I think if you're
going to get someone beat Savalinga, could get beaten this tournament there. So that's
it. Just give you some updates on the quarter there. Savalinga is minus 136 to win that quarter.
It's written in as plus four, four, fifty, Madison Keys is plus five. Taylor Townsend
is in that 25 to one to win the quarter. Could be interesting. And I'm sure we'll be
25 to one, just to beat Savalinga, as you've got to say. And in Q2, Rebecca next plus
one, 15. If you want to go with Tim's bet, I've just got to win a quarter plus two, 75
is what you'll get further in the quarter. It could be a great time to face Rebecca.
It could be a great fight to fight Savalinga. And there was two alternatives to the top two
and the top three with Bet Rivers. So we're going to go for Victoria and Bucco at 13 to
one. Is that going to be an each way play? Yeah, I think I think we'll bet both, both
of them each, each way, yeah, probably half a point each way. And on the pair, I think
one, one from each half. So yeah, I think that looks, looks, looks a good way to go. Yeah.
And if you do, obviously, have a bet with Bet Rivers, you on this tournament, the each
way part is a half of the odds of the tournament winners. So if you're betting someone at 13
or one to win a tournament, your gets to the final, you get paid out as a six and a half
to one winner and for sort of four, and they're both exactly the same. So 13 to one,
Jessica Buccoola and Victoria and Bucco are our picks here. There's plenty more content
