Wyttenbach Named Hobey Baker Finalist

On March 18th, here's the latest surrounding the Calgary Flames.

Calgary Flames' prospect Ethan Wittenbach made the cut as one of 10 finalists for the

Hopey Baker Award, the top honor for NCAA hockey players.

The league announced the list on Wednesday, and no one was shocked to see the 19-year-old

Quinnipiac forward there. He led all players with 58 points, including 24 goals,

topping everyone by seven points. Wittenbach, a fifth round pick by the Flames in the 2025 draft,

from Rosa New York, has dominated his freshman year. He's also a finalist for ECAC,

Player of the Year, and Rookie of the Year, awards he's favored to grab. Rumors swirl about him

going pro soon, but he might return to Quinnipiac for another season. Fans in scouts see him as a

real threat to win the Hopey Baker, even if his conference isn't the toughest. He's the only

Flames prospect in the mix, while he may Gavin McKenna, a top draft hopeful, is right there too.

Other nominees connect to Flames picks through college teammates. Meanwhile, Quinnipiac bowed

out early in their conference tournament, but should get an NCAA bid for the big national event

later this month. Cole Ressany earned NCHC Rookie of the Year honors, and Cullen Potter had a solid

year before a shoulder injury sidelined him. The Hopey Baker winner gets revealed on April 10th
