Hi, I'm Johnny Erickson Tata. The apostle Paul wrote several letters from prison, but perhaps the shortest is his letter to Philemon.
Paul had a specific topic in mind. It was the issue of Onesimus, the runaway slave of Philemon. Onesimus had been a slave, and in verse 11 it says that he was useless to his master.
But when Onesimus meant Paul and came to Christ, he went from being useless to useful, helping Paul share the gospel from prison.
Onesimus held such a dear place in Paul's heart that he referred to him as my son. No longer was Onesimus to be seen as a lowly slave, but rather as a beloved and valuable co-labor in Christ.
Maybe you too are feeling worthless like you have no purpose, like you can do no good? If so, be encouraged. In Jesus, you are useful in the kingdom.
No longer are you a slave to sin. Now you are a co-labor of Christ, and friend that is huge.
