We have a political culture right now in which a lot of people on both sides of the political spectrum, both on the left and the right, are very, very cynical about institutions. They're very, very cynical about the law. Welcome back to You Might Be Right. As we approach the 2026 midterm elections, we're focusing this new season on the pressing topics from Gary Mandering to the affordability crisis to whether democracy really is in danger right now. Focus on the rule of law. How is the rule of law holding up? How are elections? Are they free and fair and safe? Are things like accountability still applicable? 85% of congressional seats, one party is going to win them pretty much.

1:00So what that means is you go to your base and then you double down, you double down, you double down. That incentive structure means that the politicians take that bit of fear and play it up.
