Your Intuition Isn’t Yours. It’s Spirit Talking. Psychic Explains | Barbra Banner

About this episode

Mayim Bialik's Breakdown is made possible by:

What if your intuition isn't just a gut feeling, but a message from Spirit? What if the challenges you're facing today were lessons your soul chose before you were even born? And what if anyone could learn to connect with loved ones who have passed?

In this episode of Mayim Bialik's Breakdown, Barbra Banner (Certified Psychic, Trance & Evidential Medium) shares the extraordinary story of how she unexpectedly became a medium during the pandemic, despite having no previous interest in psychic abilities or mediumship. After experiencing intense paranormal activity in her own home, her life changed forever.

Barbra reveals how she discovered that her gifts run in her family, how her loved ones reacted to her transformation, and how she learned to raise her vibration to connect with Spirit and deliver healing messages from deceased loved ones to help clients find comfort and peace after loss.

She also explains why she believes intuition may actually be Spirit communicating with us, why Spirit often speaks through symbolism instead of words, and how anyone can strengthen their own connection with loved ones on the other side.

You'll also hear her powerful perspective on "Earth School" - the belief that our souls choose certain life lessons and challenges before coming into this lifetime - and why understanding your soul contract can completely change how you view suffering, purpose, and personal growth.

Barbra discusses what it's really like to channel someone you had a difficult or contentious relationship with during life, why she believes there are only 3 emotions experienced on the other side—love, gratitude, and joy—and why mediumship and after-death communication are becoming more accepted around the world.

She also shares how years of volunteering on crisis hotlines unknowingly prepared her to develop her mediumship, why belief often precedes spiritual experiences, and offers thoughtful advice for skeptics who are curious but unsure what to believe.

Whether you're interested in mediumship, psychic phenomena, intuition, spirituality, life after death, near death experiences, consciousness, or connecting with deceased loved ones, this conversation offers a thought-provoking look at one woman's remarkable journey!

I communicate with the other side. Something happened to me. My house went into a paranormal health thing. Just things were flying around and lights flashing. And I said, I think spirit wants to talk to me. I was never afraid of it. Are you an empath? I'm a normal person who does something a little abnormal. Barbara Banner is a psychic and medium who believes she has figured out how to increase intuitive abilities. We grew up seeing is believing. That doesn't happen in my arena. It's believing is seeing. You get information from people who are no longer alive. They are a different kind of a lot. Their consciousness is alive and lives on forever. I can help to lighten their grief, communicating, or connecting with someone that was just everything in their life. We make a soul contract before we come out. There's your guides, there's your angels. We have a whole group that works for us and with us.

I feel like intuition is really a message from spirit. Opening up to the possibility. I think everybody should have access to this gift. My name is Alex Break and I'm supported by Helix. Some of you may be familiar with Suzanne Geesman, who we have spoken to several times on the podcast. Today we're going to speak to someone who is a evidential medium. She also does trans work and she studied the techniques that Suzanne Geesman has talked about on our podcast. And we thought this would be a really, really awesome surprise to bring to our substat community. We have a conversation with Barbara Banner. In our conversation with Barbara, we have her explain some of the incredible readings she's done, some of the things that she's been brought to believe and some of the things that she knows

about spirit, guides and the power that mediums have to communicate especially to people who are grieving. She talks about the power of connecting with our loved ones to get over grief, how we can all increase our intuitive abilities and that, you know, something that resonated with me that we're all capable of being mediums, that that information is out there and something that I've said and I've told you that we can tune to the frequency of this information, that it's all out there. My am also tackles skepticism. What does it mean to be skeptical and to approach interacting with this world in a skeptical way? We're so excited to share this. We know so many of you on substack are interested in spirit guides and the other realm and what that kind of communication would look like. So we're so excited to present this very special conversation with Barbara Banner. Break it down. Barbara Banner, welcome to the breakdown. I'm so happy to be here. I think there's a divide in our audience

between those people who are all bought in and are like, yes, I get it and those people who are still kind of unsure. Yes. Tell people what you do, what is a medium? Well, I'm a normal person who does something a little abnormal, but it's getting more normal than you'd think. I, during the pandemic, something happened to me. I feel like I must have had all this stuff in me, but they put me on ice for like 50, 60 years and then they reactivated me. I started to, well, my house went into a paranormal whole thing. I mean, I just, things were flying around and lights flashing and everything and I said, I think spirit wants to talk to me. And I was never afraid of it. Orbs and tapes and it was crazy. And my husband witnessed the whole thing. So he can't tell me that, you know,

I must have taken a gummy or something. So I just said, I have to find out about this. And I realized I took a class with the magnificent Suzanne Geesman, a friend of the vodka. A friend I saw that. I had never even meditated before. That's what I like, that's what a rookie I was, okay? And on the first try, you know, that night I went home and I locked myself in a closet. I didn't really want my husband knowing what was going on. And one, two, three, I saw my dad, peaking over like, oh, look, guys, we're gonna have a medium in the family, you know, in this world, if you've got a doctor, you've got bragging rights on the other side. If you've got a medium, you're king. You meet someone on the street, they say, what do you do? What's your answer? I communicate with the other side. I learn to raise my vibration and they lower theirs because the spirit is in a higher vibration.

And we meet in the middle and I get information from them. You get information from people who are no longer alive. They are a different kind of alive. Their consciousness is alive and lives on forever. Their physical body, just think of it as, I'm unzipping my human suit today and I'm going over and I'm still me. I've got everything I have except a body. I've got my brains and everything. For work, you spend your days getting messages from people who are no longer in physical incarnation and translating that to people who are here. Who are in grief and who I can help and who I can try to lighten their grief. And what makes me different is that I bring humor into it because humor is such a high vibration. Is it always people who are in grief? Or people that are just wondering what, Aunt Philomena is doing right now

because she was your favorite aunt. But usually people, I believe people go to a mediumship class or a medium because they're missing somebody, somebody passed. And I can change how they think about it. I can't bring them back, but I can bring them closer. Do people ever contact the other side because they've lost something or they don't know where they buried the gold? I send them out a little preamble so that they don't come and ask me what the, lot of numbers are. They never lead with that, okay? But it's on their list of questions that I say list. And I actually have helped people find some things. Me, myself, I can't even tell you how much jewelry is missing and they will not tell me. So I am not meant to be, have jewelry. They just won't show me anything. But other people I have helped. What do you think is actually happening?

When you talk about raising your vibration and lowering them, lowering their, what do you think is actually happening that allows you to receive messages from the other side? First of all, you could be a medium and you could be a medium. Every person on this earth has the tools. You just need a soul and you need a heart and you need to meditate. You need to clear the messages, everything, they're all out there. They're all out there. Intuition is part of what we do. But most people believe, I don't think I really heard my father. I think it's just my imagination. Everyone passes over little signs that they're giving you because if they're not a true believer, we grew up seeing is believing. That doesn't happen in my arena. Its believing is seeing. If you don't believe it, you're going to miss out on some amazing, wonderful things

and messages that can just change your life. And the ones who end up believing, they have relationships with their loved ones. It doesn't have to end. You always say you're an auto medium. You have no intuition. My radio doesn't tune to that frequency. That's what it feels like. Well, first of all, that kind of negativity is not allowed in the spirit world, okay? Because you're going to manifest that you can't do it. You've got to say, I know I can do it. I can do anything. I think that's where a lot of people do have a problem though. I feel like intuition is really a message from spirit that's putting it into your head. I believe if you're asking a question, I always tell people, you already know the answer. I really feel you do. What is your intuition telling you? And they'll tell me, and I'll say that's what I'm getting to. So it's really just opening up to the possibility. I mean, what happens if you're wrong? What if I tell you the wrong thing to do

or you think it's not good? What you don't know is you've learned a lesson from making that decision, and that's why we're here to learn lessons and experience things. So all the bad things that happen to us or the things that really challenge us, those are the things we learn the most from. It's interesting that you mentioned Suzanne Geesman because part of what's interesting about Suzanne's story is that she was not raised with this sort of awareness of the spirit world. She lived a very kind of... A naval commander. But one of the things that Suzanne talks about is that it's a skill that you learn to drop into some other place where for those of us who don't really drop in there, it seems like very foreign to think that there's information there, but that once you learn that skill set, the way you talk about it, it's not even like it's a big effort. Yes, once you learn it, you can do it.

And it's how fast you wanna do it, and how much you wanna put into it. Did you have any inclination before the pandemic that you had intuitive abilities or that you were special? Okay. When I was about maybe 13, a lot of weird things happen at 13. I felt like I was a little psychic, and it was more of a joke to myself. I knew that she's gonna get busted for that short skirt at school. I knew things, and I would tell my friends, I think I'm a witch, because I didn't even know what a psychic was. But then that was it. Just having, it wasn't doing anything for me. I mean, I was a hit at the Oscar parties when I told him who's gonna win, but that it wasn't my life. So you go through your whole life. You're in marketing. This is not like a world that you're engaged in for the majority of your life. I was interested in it. I remember watching the medium Sylvia Brown when I was a teenager, okay? And John Edwards. I was interested in it. I thought paranormal stuff and sci-fi was cool. It's not like I was afraid of it or was spooky. I mean, you know, I wouldn't saw poltergeist. It was not on my radar, but what was interesting is I always liked to do volunteered things but I didn't want to just write a check. So I did things that I could be involved one-on-one. And it turns out the three main volunteer activities that I did until I came out, okay? Were divinely planned for me. I only understood it after I became a medium

and people were reading my bio and say, well, you're supposed to do this. Can't you see this? 14 years on a woman's hotline, crisis hotline and the training that goes into that. And Cedar's emergency room, you know, that was for my adrenaline rush. And then I spent years on the city's crisis response team where I would be a team two people would go out and on a scene where there was a dead body and the police were there. And we were brought in when the family or a witness came on the scene and needed help because the police are measuring the coroners doing that thing. It didn't bother me. It just seemed like, oh my God, I could really help those people. So you've always been sort of a helper and also the kind of work that you're describing even as your volunteer work, you know, working crisis hotlines, that is incredibly emotionally taxing to bear the weight,

you know, of someone else's suffering and be able to be supportive or being on the front lines of a critical emotional emergency, you're indicating that you have a tolerance for a very high level of emotional intensity without disrupting your own kind of person. It never really disrupted me. It's like I can compartmentalize. I just, it's not about me when I go on and there's a child's, you know, there and the parents are inconsolable. It's not about how I feel. I am there for a reason to help them and support them. Are you an empath? I'd like to say yes, but because I can shut things off with a blinder, I don't feel my daughter's an empath, but she feels everything. And I don't feel like it affects me. People say, how could you go on a scene where there's, you know, deceased people and everything?

What, why are you doing this? And I would say because I can, I think it takes a special person who's who could just shut out what they feel and just be in the moment. Okay, so you live your life as this person, you have one daughter. One daughter. Tell us what happened during COVID. I like to describe it if I have to of what happened to me. It's like three movies converging. It's like poltergeist, freaky Friday, and Allison Wonderland. If you can just imagine those three, that's sort of what happened to me. I was sending in and I did some commercials and stuff. You know, that's not acting. And I had to, during the pandemic, you had to send in your own tapes. And I just thought, oh, I'll take one look at it for the audition tape. And I look at it and there are like, you know, dozens of orbs, white balls flying willy-nilly in the tape.

Now, they were not there when I was shooting myself, you know? And that was the beginning. And then things were flying off the clock, flew off the wall in the den. And my mother-in-law's picture was on the mantle. She threw herself off, broke the picture. And I loved her so that I had nothing to do with that. And I'm in the bedroom and the fan starts going like 50 miles an hour. I'm not anywhere near it, okay? I didn't turn it on. And the light in it was flashing. Now, mind you, it didn't have a light bulb in it, okay? Because I had taken it out to use it in another fan. And I said, John, come here right now. You gotta see this. He goes, no, you come in the den. The same fan was going 50 miles an hour and flashing in the den. So I just, it was crazy. Did you feel like you were going crazy? No, I thought it was so cool. Even my husband, you know, who was a non-believer said, okay, something's going on here.

So what did you do once things started happening like that? Was your inclination to find an outlet for understanding more what was going on? I just said, I gotta find out more. This kind of stuff can't happen. You know, your house can't go all poltergeist and you do nothing about it. So I went to, I checked out and Suzanne looked good and somebody told me she was terrific and it was a soul-to-soul communication class it was called, it was like for beginners. So what are some of the skills that you learned and what did you discover? Well, what I learned is we're all the same. This whole, the world is like, we're all in a collective. We're all one that we're all here for the same reason to work off some karma, to enrich our soul, to help others being a service to others is mandatory

or you're gonna be coming back way more than you were gonna want to, okay? Because we make a soul contract before we come out, okay? And we work it with masters and you know, this, that, and the other and guides. And we figure out what will this life be and what are the things you're missing, okay? So if you're somebody who never helped another person, you know, you could be a beggar on the street, you know, with a little tin cup and know what it's like to need something and have people just look at you like you don't exist. We pick lessons that will help us. People pick having an abusive spouse and losing a child when people say, how can God let a little six-year-old boy die of cancer? You are gaining a lesson from this and you don't know what it is now and I can't tell you what it is now. This little boy chose to pass so that you could learn something.

And I always say, I'll tell you, you're gonna know everything when you cross over. I say there's a whiteboard and it's gonna say, child, passing, what the lesson was. You're gonna know everything. But they clear our mind before we come because as Dolores Cannon says, it's not a test if you know what the questions are. So we have to come down here, you know, erased and take each challenge as it comes. I wonder if you can talk a little bit more about what this choosing looks like. You know, the notion that people would choose suffering or choose sadness, what does that mean? Like, is there some like conference? There is a council, there's your guides, there's angels, there's, we have a whole group that works for us and with us. It's a collective that they figure out what can you handle? What will this do if you dig ditches

in 150 degree weather? You're gonna learn such and such and it'll be very good. The thing is, I think most people don't want it even though we're eternal, they'd like to think that they can get off the marry go round at some point where they're cooked, you know, where they've learned lessons, they've done what they need to do and they're ready to ascend, spend a little more time on a hammock in the Bahamas kind of things. So people, yeah, but listen, a lot of spirit wanna come right back forever's a long time. I mean, you want experiences. What was it like, you know, to sort of start learning these skills later in life? You know, did you feel like you were catching up on a lot of lost time? No, it was like, it was a gift, you know, I'm no spring chicken. So I thought, wow, I could do this.

My mother died at 104. So I knew I was gonna be around a long time. I said, I can do this forever, you know, as long as I'm here, I can do this and I'm only gonna get better and better and better and more knowledgeable. So I thought this is so cool that I found this purpose in life at this time. So did you find that you were accurate as soon as you started? What was that like? The first time I changed readings with another person as opposed to just trying on my own, I said to her, I said, do you know a guy named Thomas with a white dog? And she said, yeah. You know, for years, when I got something really amazing, I would be as surprised as they were. It was so exciting for me and I still feel that way. What would you say was one of the early experiences you had where you felt like, oh my gosh, this is resonating so much with someone. I had a woman who had this six-year-old son who passed

and so I gave it this reading and in all my readings, I do a Q&A time because people have questions in the back of their head that are making them crazy. And so the first question I said, I hijack it. I don't wanna know what the question is. I want you to just, here's a boundary, so you're not asking me the height of the Empire State Building. And just ask a question to your loved one because they're with you, they all know everything that's going on in your life and they just wanna be of help. And I say, ask your, you know, a question. And so she goes, okay, I've asked him. I said, well, I see your son writing on the back of a giant butterfly in heaven. And he's having the best time. He's dive-bombing and she's like, you know, water-recrying. I said, did that have anything to do with the question?

She said, oh my God, she said yes. She said, I asked my son, what are you doing in heaven? Now, normally you would just say, oh, that sounds great. But this woman, she said, I bought a book because he had a young sister. She said, and in this book was a page with a little boy writing on the back of a butterfly in heaven. I even have a picture of it. And she said, you don't know what you've done for me. I know he's with me. He made me ask that question. So this is what I'm hoping you can help us understand. When you have someone ask a question silently. Yes. I want you to walk us through in as clinical away as you can. What is going on? Are you getting quiet? Are you hearing the question? Are you feeling the question? And then where does this image of a boy on a butterfly live?

Meaning does it come to you in a flash? Are you breathing into options? What's going on that leads from her silence to a boy on a butterfly in heaven? Well, first of all, the reason I do it silently is because our critical mind is the enemy of a medium or a psychic. Because if, and it can come in and you can think, okay, that's what I'm seeing. But when you don't know the question, it's a blank slate. So what, every medium can see or do whatever. Some of them don't see anything visual. They just feel it. They, it's a knowing. Some of them can hear and ask. We've learned about clairotion. Yes, all of that. I can see, I can hear, I can feel, they even move my body, okay? And I just start mimicking what they're showing me. I, in my mind's eye, saw the picture

that was in their book. Oh. I mean, it was so accurate. But it came into the spirit of the little boy, put it in my, you know, the awareness. I just pulled it out of a little boy on the back of a giant butterfly. And it just came there. It just, it just was in my head. And one of the hardest things I feel for a medium to overcome is trust. Sometimes you just cannot believe that they said that and that you're going to say that to them. And I just learned no matter how wacky it is or crazy or, you know, I'll do anything except, you know, I said, I don't do x-rated things and some, some spirits really want to hold on. Why don't you just make a note of that and bring that later? I'm talking to a lot of intuitives and we've never heard that the spirits

have a little bit of a freak side. Not with me. Nobody's, nobody's, you know, trying to jump on me, but they would like to, you know, they're going to start nuzzling and, you know, they come in naked with just chaps on and a cowboy hat. That's how my him comes in. So I've seen those things and then I just sort of put a stop to it. They pick somebody and our guides direct them to us who they can relate to or who could handle the issues that they have. So they're sent to me and, and, you know, I think the other side is getting it. That don't, don't, don't do that. That's not happening. The other side knows who's going to receive what type of information. They know everything. They're intelligent beings and they don't make mistakes. I want to go back to something you said earlier, which is the idea of there being lessons to our life experience and that we have some form of choice in it.

Pre-birth often. And we've heard this from people who have had near death experiences talking about selecting some very difficult life lessons. Absolutely. Can you share from your experience how it changes someone to know that there is either a choice or some participation and a lesson in it versus what I assume is them fighting the universe for having to go through it? And yes, and the more you fight the universe, the longer it drags out. So this is just something I say, go with the flow. Don't try to figure it out. Just, just take the lesson at hand. I like to bring humor in, okay? Because I think the endorphins are like nature's pain killer, you know? Here's one thing I do. I show them, I said, I promise you that the photo that, you know, you look at every morning and cry with you and your son and your daughter that makes you cry. I promise you that one day you're going to look at that photo again and you're going to

laugh your ass off because he's doing that crazy grin that used to just crack you up. I said, it's the same picture, but it's how you're perceiving it. So when people know that, oh, this is a lesson and I will know why it happened. If I can just be patient and understand that the universe is not making a mistake and this is happening to me for a reason, I feel like it's a little easier. It's how you look at it. And listen, grief, you have to go through grief all the stages. Nobody can make it go away. But I feel, did you know that 15 minutes of laughter equals two hours of restorative sleep, it releases, you know, seroton and all the good stuff. It's an interrupter of the horrible feelings that you're feeling, even if it's for just

a few moments. How common is it that people think that there was a mistake made? Part of grief is being, if I need someone to blame. And they'll blame anybody that's that's around or they'll blame God and they're just, they're just in a bad place. And it takes time. There is no set time to grieve. Some women are out in six months looking for the next husband, okay? And some people are, you know, 10 years later, haven't left the house, you know, and of gray hair now. Everybody's different. Have you done a reading with someone where let's say someone had very recently passed? A lot of times they want to know if it was suicide or if it was a mistake. Okay, that's a big one when somebody passes early. The spirit is delivering some information that nobody else knew or that they understood.

It softens the blow. And we're not here to prove anything to anybody. If someone doesn't want to believe it, that's fine. I'm just going to give you what I get. Can you explain a little bit when you get ready for a reading? What is it like for you to sort of tune in and try and see who's around? I always ask the client, is there somebody you really hear for? Is there so? Because a lot of times people say, let's just see who's out there and wants to come forward. Well, I find that a lot of times it's a great aunt that they met three times and it's sort of wasting their time with somebody because in their head they want their husband. So I just say, who is it that you'd like to? Who's the first person on your mind? What is their relationship to you? I like to just cut to the chase. And that's who usually comes forward unless there's something else going on. Like that husband is letting his mother go first.

And I said, you have a very, your husband's a gentleman. She said, yes, he is. I said, well, he's letting this woman go first or she should probably hit his hand with a ruler. But there's usually a message and sometimes it's to give to somebody who's alive. I'll get a name. I'm not great at names. I shouldn't say anything negative. I'm working on names and I'm getting better. And I'll just say, is this woman whose name is Alice? Is there something going on with her? Because I feel like you need to call her. It needs and they'll always say, yes, she's in a big depression and she's so lonely and stuff. And then those people are just there and then they go. But then the husband would come. And then they're spirits around all the time. Do they need someone to be like, hey, we're ready to hear from you? Like you walk into a room. I don't see that. I mean, everybody, as I said, everybody sees things differently. But a lot of times they'll come to me before a reading because they're rare and to go.

That's usually the guy who wants the X-rated thing. But most of the time, they're just available. Everybody's essence is out there, you know, out there. And just that we can just bring it forward. The skeptics thing is crazy. I want to just give you one thing that happened. This woman whose husband had recently committed suicide. She came to me through a referral. And she was like, oh, that's too broad. You might have seen that on the news or the paper. I mean, I felt like everything I said, she was like the Olympics. She was giving me a rating. And I knew I was not going on the podium. OK, so I couldn't continue that. It's just so much. And so I said, you know what, let's just cut this off. You know, it's just the energy just isn't right. So a few days later, like three in the morning, her husband comes.

And I know I had her husband there. But she wouldn't, she was asking questions like, what were we wearing three days before he died? That's testing you. You know, it's testing me. We hate to be tested. That's not what we're there for. Right. What does that mean that this woman's husband came to you at three in the morning? That means he's got to talk to me. And I'm, and since I'm not going to read her, he had to come and like sort of wake me up and let me know he has information. So is this a voice that you're hearing? This is in my head. He showed me a half of a toasted bagel that was scooped out. You know, scooped out bagel. Yeah. I just said, what do I do with this? Just sit, just tell him. And, and I knew it was him. I, he looked like one of the little, the little doctors that was on house for like 10 years. I, I get in touch with her and I said, listen, your husband came to be the other night and he showed me a half a toasted bagel that was scooped out. I said, does this mean anything to you? She was nasty as ever. Why are you bothering me with this? Of course not.

So every, every Jewish woman scoops the bagel out. I said, okay, just remember I said it. Only the skinny ones. A week later, she gets in touch with me. She goes, you're not going to believe this. She said, I, I went to see his, his parents, my, my daughter's in laws. And my father-in-law says, you know what? I invented a product and I have a prototype and I'm just going to show it to you and you can tell me if you know what it is. So he shows her some contraption. And she goes, I don't know what that is. He said it's a bagel scooper. That's like my favorite because that's pretty specific. That's, yeah, that's like one of those. You can't make this shit up. So I get a lot of things that like, I can't believe it either. So when you say, you know, how do you like doing it? Oh my gosh, it's unbelievable. What we get to experience. Do you ever do readings with people who had a contentious relationship with the person who's asking to speak with them? Absolutely. We are all here playing parts in a play.

The man shows me his anger and I have a, I get a lot of symbolism. The woman goes like this and that's my symbol for abuse. Like he would physically abuse her. So I tell them and I show them what he's showing me. And I keep going until she said that, that was my husband. Yes, I, you know, I had to leave him. He, you know, I was afraid for my child. The husband is always wants to say he's sorry. Even though he was just playing a part, he's not like that on the other side. But in order for him to make her believe that it's him, he's got to show her the way he was in that part. How do you get from being with an abusive person building your life back together? Taking, you know, I say, take your life back. Okay.

Show the strength you have. Do something for others. You know, go to help in a shelter for abused women. There is a lesson in there. There's a reason. And our job is to navigate through these challenges and to, to move, expand our soul so that it evolves on the other side. Explain a little bit about how people can increase their ability to connect. Okay. And that's something I do. I try to do in every reading at the end. I take them on an exercise and it's really simple. I tell people I'm going to count to three. And then I'm going to say, tell me the first thing that's in your head, the first item that's in your head. Do it. Ready. One, two, three. Okay. I, and I say, you're going to get a representation or seed dogs where you least expected. It could be somebody who moves out in front of you and their license plate is, I love dogs.

Okay. That's your sign because your spirit, one of the spirits put that into your head because they knew where and when you would see that. Why do spirits communicate with us through symbolism? Like why? There's only three emotions on the other side. There's not hate. Nobody's judging you. They're not going in the bathroom with you. This veil comes down. Love. Only the highest vibrations. Love, gratitude, enjoy. That's it. You know what we used to say where our parents used to say. I'd cut my arm off for you. I said, the spirit does not want any of your appendages. Okay. What is for you to learn to laugh again, to love again. They have no jealousy. If you like this new husband more and you still want to be with both, they don't care. It's okay. I'll take Tuesdays and Fridays. They don't care. They want to help.

They want to be there for them, especially somebody who was an abuser or who didn't treat them right. They say, I want to make up for you now what I couldn't give to you then. Who communicates with you from the spirit world from your life? My grandmother now. She's taken over. It's harder to do your own for me. And a lot of mediums just go call another medium friend and say, okay, tell me what my mom's doing. Sometimes things will come through. But mostly my grandmother is hanging around. And she's because she had the juju too. And I didn't find out till my till my mother was 103. I said, mom, I have to tell you something because she was almost 104. I said, I'm a medium now. Okay. This was during the pandemic. And I said, I didn't know how you take it. I thought you might go right over the edge, which is actually where she wants to go. Where where she wanted to go at 104. And she goes, grandmother used to take me to fortune tellers, tea leaf readers, psych

ex. She said she had the juju too. People would line up to talk to her and get her into she was so intuitive. I said, mom, you're like 104. When were you going to tell me she didn't have an answer. People didn't talk about it before. I mean, what were 300 years out of being burned at the stake for, for, you know, for saying there's a bail scooper coming. What do you think it is that people used to be so protective and afraid of this information? There's still issues with people who had very religious backgrounds. Like, you're, you're doing the devil's work, you know, and there is no, you're going to go to hell. And if they could only just say, what if the priest wasn't right, just what if, what if I could see my mom or get a message to her? I wonder if we step back and think about the evolution of human consciousness, moving

from a place where we were terrified, where we couldn't get extra sensory information. You couldn't really talk about intuition or anything that was seen as witchcraft to now where it's probably more accepted than ever, right? More, it's, it's the awakening, 2025 and 26 is like the awakening, like they woke me up. All right. You've had enough sleep, lady. Get up and help people. Would you get insight from spirit about, about the progression of earth that things are happening because you talk and we've heard you say it's a lot of one on one information about helping people move through grief, but there is something happening, right? There is an evolution. There's a lot more people waiting. There's an awakening now. Psychics have, can, can do projections and predictions and I don't really get into that unless spirit shows me something that's specific or astrologers will give predictions,

terror readers can do that. So that's not my thing and what people do want to know, am I going to meet somebody? And I do get visions on that. I do say, yeah, he's, he's bald and he's short. And he's in the food business and he's really lovely. And the girl told me that she walked into Costco and the guy with food asked her out and they started dating. It was like the exact, I said, don't go out without lipstick, even if you go to the market. Okay. You got to be practical. That always look good. I've had some, some funny things happen where they take over my body. I mean, I had two grandmother's that and the woman said, they're so similar. I, you know, I said, okay, we'll go to the tiebreaker part of the show. And I said, there's a woman and she's following a sword and she's she's belly dancing, you

know, and I'm moving around. And I said, does this make any sense to you? She goes, oh, yeah, that's my grandmother on my mother's side. She was a Turkish sword dancer. What? No, I'm known from around the whole country. Yeah, or what's it like when you get chills or yeah, chills are my, my sign that what I'm saying is very important to spirit. And if I give a piece of evidence and the client says, I don't understand that and spirit brings it back again, she goes, no, I don't understand. And I bring it back again. I said, all right, we're stopping. What this has some symbolism, they are not letting me stop. And then I get a call, you know, 20 minutes later. Now I know what it meant, the color red, the color red. He took red pills to kill himself and he told me, you'll see red. So it all ends up making sense.

But the chills mean they are absolutely with me on it. And even if a client says, I don't understand that, I know that they're going to come upon it. Sometimes it takes the day before they'll, they'll listen to it again and they'll say, oh, I can't believe I didn't get that. Sometimes they just drop a bomb in the beginning of a reading spirit. And I say, don't worry about it. It's going to come full circle. It always comes full circle. Can you talk about things that you would suggest for people who are skeptical? If they want to think about the spirit world, if they want to think about mediumship, either being on the delivery side or the receptive side knowledge, there are so many books out there. But there is one, there is one website called soulproof.com. And it's created by Dr. Mark Pitsick, who's like a pioneer. And it has 30 years of articles about everything spiritual. Listen to the NDE. There's got to be 10,000 NDE.

The more you know, the more you'll be open and you must meditate. It's free. Go on YouTube, put a guided meditation to meet your, you know, meet your loved ones. When somebody books, I send them a whole resource page of meditations they can click on and different exercises they can do. I think everybody should have access to this gift of communicating or connecting with someone that was just everything in their life. Where can people find out more about you in case they want to learn a little bit more? bannermedium.com. Barbara, thank you so much for being here. I've had a wonderful time. Thank you. I really appreciate it. You know, Jonathan, one of the things that I was super intrigued about was, you know, how much skepticism can block you from being open to this other frequency. And that's something this conversation really had me thinking more deeply about.

And the fact that she uses humor in her readings, I think, is also really, it's special. It's unique and it can be very healing. You know what it made me think of? She said that 15 minutes of laughter is the physical equivalent of two hours of sleep. I don't know how scientifically... Is it going to be constant? Yeah, it's like constant laughter. Ha ha ha ha. It made me think about how much I laughed with you. And I must be getting an enormous amount of physical benefit. The laughter that we have together makes up for the amount of time you have nightmares after we spend extended periods of time together. It all just... All the stress we endure is offset by the laughter. Also, you know laughter, yoga? No. Okay. This is crazy. We have to do... Valerie, we got to get someone who does laughter yoga. I don't want that at all. The way that it works is basically you're in a group and someone starts to laugh. You lost me a group.

Ha ha ha. It's so awkward because they're fake laughing because you're like, you have to someone has to just start laughing. There's a contagion factor though to laugh, sir. And once we get over the fact that someone is basically fake laughing, someone else joins in. It's like almost impossible not to join in and then everyone is laughing. You don't really know what you're laughing about. There's a set of videos of people with unusual laughs that we're all brought together. No. No. They were all brought together on a talk show. I think it's like in Spain and they have all these different unusual, very unusual and they know that people who are laughing at them, they know they're being brought there. But they have this cacophony of awe. I mean like it's big. There it is. Like it's like that. All right. I think we've done enough for today. Laughing yoga coming at you at a later time. Thanks everyone for being here on Substack. No. Ha ha ha.
