Ad Melkert is a Dutch politician who served as the leader of the Labour Party (PvdA) from 1998 to 2000 and again from 2000 to 2002. He was a member of the Dutch parliament and served as Minister of Social Affairs and Employment. Melkert is known for his role in the Pim Fortuyn affair and his criticism of the Dutch government's handling of the affair.
