Former CEO of Bank of Credit and Commerce International
Agha Hasan Abedi was a Pakistani businessman and banker who served as the CEO of Bank of Credit and Commerce International (BCCI) from 1972 to 1991. He was instrumental in building BCCI into a global financial institution with operations in over 100 countries. Abedi was known for his charismatic leadership and his ability to build relationships with high-profile clients, including heads of state and celebrities. However, he was also accused of engaging in money laundering, arms dealing, and other illicit activities. Abedi was eventually arrested and charged with various crimes, including conspiracy and racketeering. He died in 1997 while awaiting trial.
