Dutch architect and urban planner
Albert Winsemius was a Dutch architect and urban planner who played a significant role in shaping Singapore's development. Born in 1905 in the Netherlands, Winsemius studied architecture at the University of Amsterdam and later worked in various countries, including the United States and Indonesia. In 1954, he was appointed as the first Director of the Urban Planning Division of the Singapore Government, where he worked closely with Lee Kuan Yew to develop Singapore's master plan. Winsemius is also known for his work on the design of Singapore's first public housing estates and his contributions to the country's urban planning and development. He passed away in 1986.
