Alexander Burnes

Alexander Burnes was a Scottish explorer and spy who worked for the British East India Company. He was born in 1834 in Edinburgh, Scotland. Burnes was known for his work in Afghanistan and his role in the Great Game. He was a skilled linguist and cartographer, and his writings on the region were widely read. Burnes died in 1903 in Peshawar, Pakistan.
