Ali Akbar Salavati is an Iranian writer, historian and professor. He was born in 1934 in Isfahan, Iran. Salavati received his PhD from Columbia University and has taught at several universities, including Shahid Beheshti University of Tehran. He is known for his works on Iranian history and culture.
