American Muslim scholar and activist
Amina Wadud is an American Muslim scholar, activist, and author. She is a prominent voice on issues related to Islam and feminism. Wadud has written extensively on topics such as Islamic theology, gender and sexuality, and social justice. She has also been a vocal advocate for women's rights and LGBTQ+ rights. Wadud has taught at several universities, including Princeton University and Harvard University. She is the founder of the Zaytuna College, a Muslim liberal arts college. Wadud has received numerous awards for her work, including the National Council of American-Islamic Relations' (CAIR) highest honor. She has also been recognized for her contributions to the field of Islamic studies by the Islamic Society of North America.
