Amiri Baraka

Amiri Baraka was an American poet, playwright, and essayist. He was born in Newark, New Jersey, and grew up in a family of artists. Baraka was a key figure in the Black Arts Movement of the 1960s and 1970s and was known for his powerful poetry and plays. He was also a prolific writer and published numerous books of poetry, plays, and essays. Baraka was a professor at several universities and was a frequent contributor to literary magazines. He passed away in 2014.
