Russian writer and dissident
Andrei Sinyavsky was a Russian writer, philosopher, and dissident. He was born in 1928 in Leningrad, Soviet Union. Sinyavsky was a prominent figure in the Soviet dissident movement, known for his critiques of Soviet society and politics. He was arrested in 1962 and sentenced to seven years in prison. After his release, he continued to write and advocate for human rights. Sinyavsky was awarded the Sakharov Prize in 1975 for his non-violent resistance to oppression. He died in 1983.
