Anna Jarvis was an American activist and philanthropist who founded Mother's Day in 1908. She was born in West Virginia and grew up in a family of modest means. Anna was a strong advocate for women's rights and education. She is best known for her tireless efforts to establish a national holiday to honor mothers. Anna passed away in 1948, but her legacy lives on through the celebration of Mother's Day.
