Anthony Ascham

Anthony Ascham was a renowned historian and scholar of the 16th century. He was born in Kirby Wiske, near Northallerton, and studied medicine and physics at Cambridge University. Ascham went on to become a vicar at St Lambert's Church in Burneston, near Bedale. He is best known for his work on the history of education and his contributions to the field of historiography. Ascham's writings are still studied by scholars today.
