Roman statesman and politician
Appius Claudius was a Roman statesman and politician who lived in the 5th century BCE. He was a member of the patrician class and served as a consul in 493 BCE. Claudius was known for his ambition and his ability to build alliances with other powerful Romans. He was also known for his rivalry with other Roman politicians, including the decemvir Lucius Quinctius Cincinnatus. Claudius died in 455 BCE at the age of 70.
