Patrician politician and military leader
Appius Claudius Crassus was a Roman patrician politician and military leader who served as a consul in 322 BCE. He was a member of the Optimates faction and was known for his conservative views and his efforts to establish a strong and stable government in Rome. Crassus was also a skilled military leader and played a key role in several important battles, including the Battle of the Sabis. Despite his many achievements, Crassus is perhaps best known for his role in the Social War, a conflict between Rome and its Italian allies.
