Queen of Alexandria
Arsinoe IV was a queen of the Ptolemaic Kingdom of Egypt. She was the daughter of Ptolemy XII Auletes and ruled as queen alongside her brother Ptolemy XIII. Arsinoe was known for her intelligence and cunning, and played a significant role in the politics of the Ptolemaic court. She was also a patron of the arts and sciences, and was said to have been a close friend of the philosopher Philo of Alexandria. Arsinoe's reign was marked by conflict with her brother and other members of the royal family, and she eventually fled to Syria, where she was eventually captured and executed. Despite her tumultuous life, Arsinoe remains one of the most fascinating figures of ancient Egyptian history.
