August von Galen was a German Catholic bishop and politician who served as the Bishop of Münster from 1922 until his death in 1946. Von Galen was a vocal critic of the Nazi's treatment of the disabled and was a strong advocate for the rights of the poor and marginalized. He was also a skilled orator and was known for his powerful sermons, which often criticized the Nazi regime's policies. Von Galen's opposition to the Nazi regime ultimately led to his forced retirement and exile. He died in 1946 at the age of 71.
