Bao Zhiyi was a Chinese empress consort of the Ming dynasty. She was born in 1378 and married Zhu Yuanzhang, the founder of the Ming dynasty. Bao Zhiyi was known for her beauty and intelligence, and played an important role in the early years of the Ming dynasty. She was also a patron of the arts and education.
