Barbara Skarga is a Polish philosopher and writer. She was born in 1929 in Poland. Skarga was a prominent figure in Polish intellectual life during the communist era. She was imprisoned in the Soviet gulags from 1944 to 1956. After her release, she wrote several books about her experiences, including 'Na de bevrijding: Aantekeningen over de Goelag, 1944-1956'. Skarga has been recognized for her contributions to Polish literature and her advocacy for human rights. She has received several awards, including the Order of Polonia Restituta.
