Bartolomé de las Casas

Bartolomé de las Casas was a Spanish Dominican friar and historian who was a key figure in the Spanish conquest of Mexico. He was a vocal critic of the treatment of indigenous peoples by the Spanish and wrote extensively on the subject. Las Casas is considered one of the most important historians of the conquest and his works are still widely read today.
